Laxman is too much of a gentleman
by ABC XYZ on May 26, 2009 06:52 AM  | Hide replies

Adam Gilhcrist could done us a big favor by keeping his mouth shut. Who is he helping out with these statements? Poor Laxman, the guy is too much of a gentleman and is paying a price for that. The thing which is missing these days is RESPECT. When you have a cricketer who has made a significant contribution towards Indian Cricket, the least these franchsises can do is to show some respect. You may not like his style, ideas, etc. and decide to discontinue him. Please do that in a respectful manner. Gilli should have been told to keep his mouth shut about Laxman. One thing is never clear to me is why we Indians enjoy being White Slaves. Why can't we think that our cricketers could also be a coach, mentors, etc.? Why do we have to import Australians, English, Kiwis all the time? And now this Gilchrist is making such outrageous statements and we are sitting here and applauding. Shame on us.

I agree with you partly....Gilly shouldn't have opened this pandora box...wht good will it do for the franchise ....we were really happy with Gilly's performance as a captain but this has just hurted everyone....

On one side they say Laxman agreed to management to stay back on the other gilly says he was fired disgracefuly...

It happens. He is not a t20 player. He was dropped. What is the big deal. He better play in 3 day and 4 day matches so he can prepare well for test matches.

Another Goof up in Man of the match decision...
by Indian on May 26, 2009 05:24 AM  | Hide replies

I thought Gibbs who stood till the end was a good choice and Symmonds who made some quick runs and took 2 crucial wickets at the crunch situation was more desiring then Kumble....

I have seen many unexpected decisions in IPL for MOM...your comments pls..

Uneccessary to reveal this after glorious victory....
by Indian on May 26, 2009 03:16 AM

Unnecessary to reveal this after glorious victory....just imagine after this how bad Laxman will feel about this issue...I don't think such kind of news after victory is needed....

VVS

VVS is a gentleman ... perhaps too gentleman for today's cricket business. I adore him and sad the treatment meeted out to him. The over commercialization of cricket may do more harm than good in the long run.

Not to confornt you, but dont you think this is how things should be? All the players who are not fit for a format shouldnt be picked just because they are greats in the other format. Laxman is not a master blaster. He may score around run a ball in the long run, but he needs time to get started. Even Sachin was looking misfit. He may well mask it by saying, he was playing the situation, but can one really see him change the game like gilchrist or Ross Taylor who got their 80s from 30 odd balls? Accepting reality and giving up money involved is not easy I reckon and I dont blame them for that.

our oldies Ganguly Tendla laxman and Dravid have to accept that they are not t20 material keeping in mind the current fitness and form...lets not talk wht they have done in the past...

This is the difference in a franchise and BCCI...Franchise cannot take them just becos they are great....they will be thrown out of the team disgracefully...

We have to acknowledge that players like Gilly, hayden, mcgrath have retired when they were still doing great unlike indian players who keep themselves in the team with thr records....

Who said that? Dravid has played some magnificent innings and so has Tendulkar. With Ganguly, well, if you have a Buchanan I don't think you can do much. Our problem is that we are white skin slaves and will always be. Imagine a T20 arranged by Australia and they are allowing Indians to captain those tournaments.

Why going on Race man....Accept that we don't have legendary players like Warne, gilly etc....making gilly the captain got the DC in winning stream...like wise warne who got the title with his leadership skills...

sachin scored some good runs and he was even MOM two or three times.. he even when needed blasted.. but I shld agree his captaincy was bad.. he shld have always open... very very big mistake he has done.. he was so much in pressure that he was used to change the batsman order.. thats shows that ur so much worried.. too much change is not good....Mr Tendulkar

This shows how the foreign player shows the respect towards the Indian players. Poor VVS Laxman. At least respect him as an icon of Deccan chargers .

Laxman is not even fit to be a player in the team. When he was told not required he should have left immediately. Why is he still hanging there as an assistant? MONEY boss! that makes greedy to bend their knees.

Mr Jagan, are you forgetting that he chose not to be an icon player in the IPL auction, just for the sake of the team, so that they can buy big name players. This shows, he is not greedy. Don't talk nonsense without knowing facts. He could have easily made more than a million$ if he were an icon player.

Do you think VVSL is of any use in 20/20? He has proved useless in 50/50. There is nothing wrong to tell that he is not required. If he played DC should have been out of the tournament long back.

Well Said! VVS was given chances and he batted poorly on all the occassions besides he is very poor fielder and cannot get any quick singles.

he would have played better than zero heroes viru and gambhir...who are considered experts of quick cricket...look at dravid who is not considered 50/50 player but he was much better than both viru and gambhir...
