IPL franchisees invest lots of money for each team and its important to make profits. This can be done by a decent show in the tournament. With 4 foreigners in the team along with the Local talent, if the team gives a decent performance it would be exciting to watch and thats the success IPL. Along with this its important to learn profesionalism becoz we take decisions based on emotional issues. Its good that Gilly explained the situation to VVS rather than treating him other way. Hope VVS also understood the situation. Hope DADA too learn a lesson becoz whatever the issue he makes a point to come to the media and the aftermath is known to everybody.

Sheer rubbish, do u think Laxman voluntarily stayed out of 11? He dint, he should have never been a part of a T20 team, Deccan team realized that this season and dumped him. Regarding Dada, well he is any day a much better T20 player than Laxman, KKR dint have too many options either so it made sense to include him

Dont believe what the Goras tell u!! Dont forget Laxman voluntarily gave up the ICON status, that saved his franchise millions. He is the cleanest guy in the Indian cricket team, u should check that out from his own team mates, they respect him tremendously for that. Agreed he is not T20 mould, but as per prevailing conditions in SA he would've been handy. Did u forget Gillys stement before the semis that they are looking at Azhar Bhilakia or VVS to play the next two games? What did the young replacements like suman, azhar, ravi teja, Venu rao achieve anyway. They dont even have decent first class records. As luck would have it VVS laxman dint perform in the few chances he got himself to blame for that
These Aussies will always open their we@@rd mouth in the public,no matter whatever happens. If the DC management thinks,Laxman wasn't needed, then why to open the mouth in front of media.Keep this as a secret. One thing is for sure, these nuts wants to target talented indian cricketers.Buchanan targeted Ganguly,Gilly is doing the same agnst Laxman.
The same Gilly whent the IPL was going on spoke to media that Laxman can't be ruled out for playing in the next matches, and wat is he talking now, just rubbish, these aussies have no shame and ba@@rks like anything.
I think it would be risky to make an foreigner a captain in future of IPL teams, since once this people gets the power, they will spare no time in using agnst the indians.Time for franchises to rethink their love for Phoren Babas
Dropping Laxman was one of the biggest reasons behind Deccan success, he was terrible both as a captain as well as a batsman last year, he might be an ok Test player, but he just isnt fit for ODI or T20, his running between the wickets is poor, and is also slow in the outfield. This so called icon player was a burden on the team, and Deccan did the right thing by benching him. Well done Gilly!

he is not an OK test player.. He is a very good test player.. He is the only one who performs under pressure in test cricket
Re: Re: Laxman

He is the most overrated test player around, but whatever, he sucks in T20 and thats what we are talking about here
Why did Kris Srikanth announced the t20 dream team...just before the WCt20??? was that important or needed at all???
He included Nehra in the list but not dhoni....may be becos Indian T20 team was announced before Nehra shined in IPL2 but these kind of press releases just hampers the motivation levels of players....
I am not a fan of Dhoni but why all this crap is needed????
Before I write any htin here I studied most of the messages and would like to share my understanding. Firstly Gilcrist is very professional, every one is aware that now a days for every team or franchisie, there is a media managment team, who teaches the do's and don'ts with media to all the players. If gilcrist has revealed, it might be because the Francise wants people to know, and how this will benifit franchise, we do not know their policies. As far as Gilly is concerned, he didnt reveal it just like that and that without any ones's interference.
Coming to minimum respect to laxman and not greedy for money ? Hmmmm Self respect is most important, if one cannot respect oneself, it is stupidity to expect someone to respect. Laxman, with loads of expereince, knew about is potentials, his fitness and all the facts, he does not fit the oneday team and sucess rate for Test cricket is also not THE BEST, yet he joined, he unlike foolish DADA thought that if as a CAPTAIN, he could slowly earn the money for a longer time, by giving Francise the option spending more money on good players, so that team wins, and gets his permananet income, but Hyderabadi's or Deccans are not as stupid as Bengalis, who keeps DADA ahead of team and national interest, and wants ot c DADA,in team, thoguh it is a burden on team. i appreciate people of Deccan territory for understanding the importance of team but not induvidual.Great job Gilly and the owner Mr Reddy.DC needs some local youngsters.

Abusing a community as a whole shows your dirty family background. It is evident from the fact that you don't have the guts to reveal yourself and took shelter behind a fake name. Rediff is to be praised for giving so many "highly knowledgable" persons an opportunity to abuse other communities & celebrities.
Even its very hard to acknowledge but dear friends its true ... Laxman is great player in Test matches.. 20 ty is not his game.... any way this my openion
Re: Its Fact
by extreme on May 26, 2009 08:28 AM
everyone knows that.. its not necessary to reveal in public... was the selectors blind when they selected Laxman in IPL1 and handed the team to him.. he was even that time a test player and it was clear that he canot play fast.. as he was dropped from one Indian day team ..
he was there as a player or a coach? Why Adam has to say so that he was asked to go and bla bla... this is not good.. why he is not needed as player... he could have needed to play in case two-three players get injured... he himself was the one who fumbled even in the first over of the final game and he himself handedover the game to Royal challenge.. he shld be thankful to RP who really bowled well.. Role of a captain in criecket is not that creditable than one in Soccer.. thats why in cricket sometimes the captains take undue credit due to individuals contribution.. if he was a good caaptain he shld have earned highest point in the tournament.. T20 is all luck be it at the individual level or at the game!!!! these aussies are really nasty...

What is Gilchrist supposed to do - give Laxman false hope about getting his spot back. This is why India, despite being the most talented team in the world, underachieves especially away from home. It may not be culturally appropriate to say it as it is but Laxman is never going to be a 20/20 player. Unless he is standing in the slips he is a sub par fielder and cannot bat at the frenetic pace required in 20/20. He is now 34 and hardly in top physical condition such as Symonds who is a year younger.
This guys adam is a b a s t a r d. Typical sick aussie culture , trying to say sweet things while running down a person. Its just not Indian thing to do.
Adam Gilhcrist could done us a big favor by keeping his mouth shut. Who is he helping out with these statements? Poor Laxman, the guy is too much of a gentleman and is paying a price for that. The thing which is missing these days is RESPECT. When you have a cricketer who has made a significant contribution towards Indian Cricket, the least these franchsises can do is to show some respect. You may not like his style, ideas, etc. and decide to discontinue him. Please do that in a respectful manner. Gilli should have been told to keep his mouth shut about Laxman. One thing is never clear to me is why we Indians enjoy being White Slaves. Why can't we think that our cricketers could also be a coach, mentors, etc.? Why do we have to import Australians, English, Kiwis all the time? And now this Gilchrist is making such outrageous statements and we are sitting here and applauding. Shame on us.

I agree with you partly....Gilly shouldn't have opened this pandora box...wht good will it do for the franchise ....we were really happy with Gilly's performance as a captain but this has just hurted everyone....
On one side they say Laxman agreed to management to stay back on the other gilly says he was fired disgracefuly...
Re: Laxman is too much of a gentleman
by Jagdish Reddy on May 26, 2009 07:57 AM
It happens. He is not a t20 player. He was dropped. What is the big deal. He better play in 3 day and 4 day matches so he can prepare well for test matches.

Jagdish, dropping is different,,,he was dropped anyway in IPL2....but opening this in public is not a good thing....it hurts everyone...how laxman is been handled is bad example...
