Manish Rules out career in Army
by narayanan on May 23, 2009 04:53 PM

Dear Manish
Your score of 114 is your first major inning in international level to be exact, Just be consistant before jumping to conclusions. This is not to underestimate you or your performance. Cricket itself is a game of uncertainity so before making certain conclusions its better to think. Any way be it Army or Cricket you are going to have a role for the country

Look at the list of the biggies - Heyden, Raina, Gilchrist, Smith, Tendulkar, Jayasuriya, Kallis, Dravid, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj, and the list is endless................ In 56 matches so far, there has been only one century - from AB DeVilliers. And then this youngter all of 19 years comes along and smashes 114 runs in quick time. Surprising why so few centurians in IPL3

This guy for sure has something special in him. Hope he is nurtured well and lives up to his promise. I am sure India would do well with someone like him who can fearlessly smash a 100. I am sure a big queue of Media management companies are vying to sign him up for a petty sum so that they can get huge returns in just a matter of year or two.

Look at how a person has choice in his career. His service to nation as a soldier has come second to money.

@Felixraj - I have the greatest respect for defence but I couldn't find any justification to this comment of yours. Going by your philosophy everyone should join the army. But then who is going to earn money for the country. Who is going to pay tax and trust me, the army personnels salary comes from the taxes that other civilians (cricketers happens to be one them) pay. Manish has the capability of becoming a good player and any good player earns name for the country, which is also very very important. Are you jealous that he is going to earn more money that you can?

Yeah so??? Army is just like any other profession. right now, there is no situation where India really needs a lot of people to serve the army. we are not at war with anyone. so its just a profession, and pandey has chosen a profession that he feels he is best at and a profession which he likes. I wouldnt want a guy in the army whose heart is not really at it.

Its not about money.

He may be just another jawan. Anybody can do that.

But not every jawan can be world class batsman like he does.

Hope that answers your question - You do that which you are best at.

But Mr. Felixraj,

He and his family are still better than you, because his father is a defence personnel. Except criticising him on this Board, what else you have done for this country?

Absolute loser you are Mr. Felixraj

A defence personal's son is behind money and doesn't want to serve his country in army,What a great irony and we have people like Ramnath alias brainless Babu to support him .What a shame.

Chill dude, its just a career option. why take it in such a sentimental manner. I had a choice to join a private company or the Army and I chose the army. I am in the Army and am ok with people making their own choices. Why make a big fuss. Every thing has plus and a minus.
