The so called champions managed a draw bcoz it was a flat wicket. Had it been a green top like that during 2003 series it would have been a humiliating disaster for India
Re: Champions
by India on Mar 30, 2009 05:41 PM
The present bunch of fast bowlers India has is way better than the one which toured NZ in 2003. That is the reason NZ did not prepare green top wickets because then NZ batsmen would also had to face chin music from Indian fast bowlers.

If that would have been the case, even the New Zealand batting would have collapsed.. These NZ guys are afraid of our bowling attack, so they didnt offer a green track

Humbug Vishal.. if India had lost... losers like you would have said that India couldn't even draw the test on a flatbed... people like you are chamelions who change colours frequently

Vishal
Had it been green top, do you think New Zealand would have crossed 200 or 250?? They could score 600 only because it was a flat wicket. You know what happened in the first test, how they went spinning against Indian bowling, when wicket was not flat

Vishal,
I will tell you in Marathi -
Only unwise think about - Aatyabailaa Mishya Astya Ter.....
Trnasalted it means 'If the Auntie had a moustache.......'
Visahl, please do not display your utter lack of cricket knowledge. It the top was green Kiwis would not have scored 600 plus if one want to go by your logic. Last thing I want to do for sure.
daniel vettori was mad to enforce follow on. he should have batted; score some 100 runs and then ask india for the 4th inns. india would have collapsed just like that... (hey guys, I appreciate the top 6 guys for their batting ability; specially dravid, sachin and laxman; but having a target of 450 in 4th inns is just enormous.)
Re: vettori's blunnder
by Ravi Chandran on Mar 30, 2009 05:23 PM
You can also dream that NZ would have scored 100-10, and India 420-0, a World Record for the 1st wicket (and also the 4th innings score?)
Re: vettori's blunnder
by jamescunnin on Mar 30, 2009 05:19 PM
looking at the wicket even with the strenght of runs on the board and rested bowlers ... think New Zealand would have got two wickets more ... but India would have batted the day out ... the wicket would have played well.
Re: vettori's blunnder

What would have happened in 100 runs man... Acknowledge the fact,, India played well in the last 2 days...
Please pick positives . India can play even if Sehwag misfires, some of the players didnot play in the first innings. They are not champions for nothing. We are thinking when we will be no1. Dont spoil the show with crybabys and personal hatred of players
Though in both innings sehwag got cheaply out, But we have to appricate of his Capataincy, Even though ha can't cool down his head, while batting, but he cool down his head, while captaincy
Re: Sehwag's Capataincy
by Cricketlover on Mar 31, 2009 01:20 AM
ha ha ha,, you are either joking or out of your minds,,, even experts have told, Shewag captaincy is useless
Re: Sehwag's Capataincy
by India India on Mar 30, 2009 04:23 PM
Ha, ha! Are you serious? From 23 for 3 he let NZ off the hook by giving away over 4 runs an over for 150 overs or more. Did you see the field placings? Poor, Munaf pleaded with Sehwag to no avail. You call this blunder coolness? It was Dhoni's captaincy from the dressing room which inspired the batsmen, not Sehwag.
Re: Sehwag's Capataincy
by rangdebasanti on Mar 30, 2009 04:37 PM
sehwag should be dropped from vice-captaincy also.... most irresponsible cricket from a captain..
Re: Re: Sehwag's Capataincy
by India on Mar 30, 2009 05:37 PM
UR right. Most irresponsible batting from a captain, who is supposed to be in terrific form. On this kind of batting wicket Sehwag could have scored 300 only if he had the patience to stay at the wicket. He blew 2 chances to do that.
THE END RESULT WAS NOTHING BUT PLENTY OF BATTING PRACTISE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE INDIANS & 4 FULL DAYS OF ONLY ACHING LEGS FOR THE KIWIS. IN FUTURE THEY WILL ALWAYS THINK TWICE BEFORE GIVING A FOLLOW-ON TO INDIA. "ITS LIKE RISKING YOUR LEGS" HA HA HA HA !!

If we have a face value in cricket know in new zealand its only gambhir...he has been proving time and again...when i first heard the score of 1st innings,,,my first thinking was is gambhir not playing....though there are traditioanlly strong players like tendulkar, shewag, dravid, lakshman, and even yuvraj but the fact it they have proven wrong and played bad at many occasions...but this young chap has done extraordinaryly well...i first saw gambhri score and felt bad....anyway things have changed and they managed to keep our reputation intact...kudos to them...and very stylist and real stylist knock by lakshman....well batted....know with this ...india whould go and win the next test and get the series win....best of luck

good teams not only win all matches but are aslo adept at saving hopelessly gone chances like this one...india is well on the way to be one of the top teams...its a pleasure to see the change started by ganguly and companu being carried forward by dhoni gambhir and company to greater heights

ganguli is history. his success as a captain was because of his team members, who were performing on their own. sachin, dravid and laxman doen't need ganguli to tell them. they do things silently irrespective of everything.

People who dont know cricket or only have TV knowledge should stop giving comments on players who are best in the world , have proven themselves over the years and still have no one to replace them .
Re: All credits to gambhir and laksman
by RonyRide on Mar 30, 2009 02:34 PM
laxman contributed when it mattered most....classy batsman always underrated....and with dravid back in form, tendulkar on song....india can win the next test...
The other day all Media were guning down the Indian team for playing badly in one innings. Now in the 2nd innings they have proved everybody wrong by drawing the test. Huge credit goes to old warhorses Sachin/Dravid/V.V.S.Laxman and present youth Gambhir & Yuvraj. What a performance? Sadly Yuvraj missed out on a century.
With M.S.Dhoni back in next test India should go on & win the series comfortably.
