It is now innternational premier league

The charm of tourney is gone. Can you logically hold county cricket in India & expect it to be a success.Modi speaks & acts faster than he think which is showing in this strange decision.Theis is an outcome of one strret smart businessman running into equally arrogant politician leading to debacle of this magnitude & causing premature demise of a great sporting spectacle enacted by India

Government of India should and must ban the use of word 'Indian' with the IPL. This club is not a government promoted entity, like the Indian Oil Corporation. Words like 'National' and 'Indian' must not be appended to private business enterprises/clubs/hotels, etc.

Shifting IPL game out of our country is great shame!
by jibak majumdar on Mar 25, 2009 04:21 PM

I am quite astonished that Indian Govt and Mody could not succeed to resolve the security of our country for holding IPL game in our country. It is not giving a good signal to the other countries about the image of our country. Here's a dirty politics when last moment some states have backed out giving gurantte of security.
It's no doubt the security of our country is greater than any sports but resheduling of the game could have beeen done.

What we will definitely miss (or not miss) is moral police protesting against the cheerleaders! No such pangas in South Africa I'm sure...
I guess they would be rueing the loss of another opportunity to gain some political visibility.

In this recession its like a shock for indian cricket fans. They may plan to visit SA to watch the match in stadium. Its really a bad decision taken by Mr Modi.

IPL can be a huge success if...

IPL 2 could be a huge success, if and only if Modi make some new changes in the team compositions, by including at least two South African players in each team chosen from near their base in South Africa. Otherwise it will totally miss the crowd in the stadium.

Well, crowd cares only about good game and big stars. For example, a Davis cup doubles match between Spain and Switzerland (featuring Federer/Warinka and Nadal/Robredo) will attract sports-loving crowd even if it is held in India just because of big names. Same logic applies to IPL.

India for sure lost a big chunk of funs inflow. With the elections we are only going to loose lot of public funds. Modi has shown how selfish he is. IPL will be a success only to him. He has no sentiments towards INDIAN FANS.

Instead of cribbing about things and criticizing people especially the IPL staff and Mr.Modi .... Lets just accept watever is happening and try to show some support to that guy

Afterall...IPL is not just about big bucks but now its become a matter of Indian Pride and Modi (for watever reasons u may allege) is working his Ass off day in and day out to make IPL 2 a success story.

Think about the VISAS, The staff, The Hotel bookings, The Security, The Air Travel of 1000s of members involved in IPL ..... which he has to organize and arrange in such a short time
