Get real man!! Look at their neighbours and then look at ours. Do you think their threat perception is comparable to ours, that too with an international team getting attacked next doors. its high time people stop US worship.

IPL ...becoming too Imperialistic
by madhu kiran on Mar 25, 2009 01:48 PM

It seems IPL is too much cared about thier money bags than the concerns abt security. How can INDIAN PREMIER League can conduct the matches in a foreign land. CAN YOU EVER DREAM OF CONDUCTING EURO-SOCCER IN PUNE..? YOu all Indians...get United...and OPPOSE THE MOVE...

Modi is responsible for holding IPL...he can hold it anywhere he wants....it ws his idea to have an Indian Premier League fr cricket....he was the one who got BCCI to hold the IPL tournament for first time, after 8 years of planning and logistics...

So he has full right to make sure that the show goes on and that cricket doesnt suffer due to Indian politics..

All our work goes to waste..thanks to UPA!
by sandeep kumar on Mar 25, 2009 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

We had a group in blore to support Blore royal Challengers. And the idea was to be present in Chinaswamy to cheer dravid, peterson, steyn etc. We had started work on banners, postcards..Created an online group and things were going great until we found that matches are held in South Africa. Dosent the govt understand that cricket is India's religion? Why does the election need so much security as all these fat Netas are never targetted by terrorists. Govt and IPl should have worked together to provide foolproof security, but that didnt happen and cricket lovers lost out instead. I hope Chidambaram, maha Cm all lose in coming elections. And by the way, to show our anger, RC fan club WONT BE VOTING!!

Boycott call to everyone
by Kamal on Mar 25, 2009 10:33 AM  | Hide replies

While Modi/BCCI could postpone IPL by a week why not by another two more weeks and conduct the matches in India? By April 30th, most of the states elections would get over. Any patriotic Indian will boycott IPL matches conducted outside India. After all, it is viewed as a local/regional tournaments - the names themselves are enough to prove this. Whatever it is, I have decided to boycott viewing IPL. If we all decide to boycott, the advertisement revenue, which is the main source of revenue, will get a hit below the belt. And, egoists like Modi will get hit. Further, I understand that 3 of the 6 venues, the maximum temperature itself willbe 15 degrees and min temp would be 5 degrees in Mid April. Donno how players will get affected. I am worried our Indian players' health should be in tact and they should be fit for matches which give pride to the country rather than franchisors of IPL.

Kamal:

If you are so concerned about Indian players' health, then you should also know that they have an already booked international schedule.
So your suggestion of postponing IPL by 2-3 weeks is not feasible.
Also, what's the guarantee that postponing would have ensured security?
The schedule was already revised 2 or 3 times and accepted by government. Then came the regional tantrums of not providing security et al. (Maharashtra and AP)..
Under those circumstances, it was good that at least IPL is happening.
As for your call of boycott, I'm sure that most Indians will stay home and not fly to South Africa to watch... ;-)

To me its a fitting reply by Modi to the Government which has never had the guts to defend itself nor accept the fact that game has become bigger than the foolish game of politics

And who do you actually think is responsible??? Modi... Hell no... That guy has been trying to schedule and re-schedule the IPL thousands and thousands times to suit the elections ..... But no the Congress Government cant provide bloody security to our people... You know something .... South Africa have their elections two days after IPL is launched.... Yet they were happy to accomodate IPL.... Now who do you think is to be blamed?? Modi or the government .... Realise one thing... if IPL did not underwent this time... You might as well say goodbye to IPL... Because the losses involved from TV Broadcasting Rights are enormous... He is trying to save the tournament and you people are actually blaming him.... and what's better ... young players are going to go and learn to play on the bouncy pitches of South Africa for a change... you know what kind of exposure that is to the players??? But no ... you have to blame Modi.... Seriously... you must check facts before making such an allegation.. And for your kind info... they are not making money... They are losing money in this endeavour... Please see that most ads have been pulled out because of IPL not being staged in India...
