Windies need focus
by prakash mohanasundaram on Mar 22, 2009 03:17 PM

West Indies had a great chance to win, but they instead of knocking off those 30 odd runs were busy worrying abt the light. Keiron Pollard appeared to be too distracted and was running up to the umpire after every ball. Same goes for Ramdin, for god's sake he is the vice captain, he should have asked pollard to just play and try and win the game. But Ramdin himself was looking for the easy way out bothering abt light. And i just cannot gulp that horrible chop he was trying to play to run the ball to third man. Really West Indies are trying to get back to winning ways, hence they should stay focussed. Here is the match that they should have won. Engaland for their part did well, the moment they saw the batsman distracted, bowled straight, nothing too full nor short, just good length which won the game for them

wat an embarassing loss to WI due to stupidity of D/L method i wud say. Here the coach or captain cant be blamed coz this sucking D/L method is unpredictable even by the persons who invented it. It's shame on ICC. Anyway this D/L method shows its gratitude to the nation(england) that brought cricket to the world. hehehe

D/L is not a bad method at all, it takes into account lot of factors. After knowing what it is, i have become a fan of the D/L Method. Just plain Math. Sad that John Dyson got his numbers messed up. Shaun Pollock also messed up with D/L numbers some years back

West Indies captain also responsible
by India on Mar 21, 2009 04:01 PM  | Hide replies

I am still puzzled as to how such a mistake could happen. Didn't the umpires or the referree tell Dyson about the situation at aleast to correct Dyson. What were the West Indian captain and players doing? Had they gone to sleep? This is absolutely stupid unless the match was fixed. Something smells very fishy. It has to be investigated by people responsible in West Indies board if there any left. West Indian players are notorious to tank matches. This is nothing new. Just imagine if India, Australia or South Africa had done this supposed mistake.

The umpires and match refrees are neutrals. they are not supoosed to tell the coach what to do and what not. plus, they sit/stand at different places on the ground. the decision to call players back is totally upto the coach and captain. yes, the captain is also to blame. nothing was fixed. its just a freakish human blunder.

D/L method is fine
by India on Mar 21, 2009 03:56 PM

There is nothing wrong with D/L method. By this time players should have got used to it and be prepared for it. They are supposed to be highy professional players(I presume) Otherwise rain and bad light will result in One day drawn matches. Nobody wants that.
