Govt. spending for Corporate Sports
by guptaapsn on Mar 10, 2009 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

Why govt.should spend money for corporate sports. Govt.is not able to appoint sufficient security staff in many of indian airports and pasingers are suffering hours together in long quees. Chidambaram states that thinking of alloting para militery forces for IPL. Is IPL is ready to pay money for security expenditure?

I think you do not know that IPL / BCCI will pay to govt for providing security. It is not a free service as you are assuming

Rightly said Gentleman. This is a tamasha organized by the cash rich BCCI and our already over worked security men should not be made to work over time. It is BCCI and Modi's responsibility to conduct it in a smooth manner and if anything goes wrong bcci and modi's ass must go for a toss !

Re: IPL security to be centrally managed: Modi

All this emphasis on security is understandable. But, what's puzzling is Mr. Modi's dependence on the States for security support. With all the money that the IPL's making, I don't understand why he couldn't hire a security firm & private guards for this. A security liasion officer or officers could be appointed to manage the communications between local law enforcement & the players' security teams & the job will get done. Sure, I may be simplifying this somewhat, but, the logistics can be worked out, if Mr. Modi brought his allegedly brilliant tactical nous to bear on this issue. If the IPL is not about nationalist pride & it's a pro-league, then why not leave the security to the professionals as well?

With the fear of these Coward and Stupid Pakistani Terrorists why we should not organise our games or Celebrate Independence Day, Republic Day, Diwali, Holi, New Year etc.... Due to Fear Factor if we don't do anything it would be the biggest win for these Dirty Terrorists and ultimately Winner will be Pakistan's Proxy War against India. Till today India is winner remain winner forever inspite of their threats.

Biggest flop of this year
by MailSunnyHere on Mar 10, 2009 05:20 PM  | Hide replies

With terror threats, recession and job loss, high cost of tickets, far away stadiums, poor performance in previous season will all be making IPL deliver a biggest flop of this year. Even corporate bookings by companies is also in doubt in this situation.
