Yes..agreed..Security is just a concern..but now with this terrorist attack in pakistan, they have a substantially valid point to ask to postpone IPL

The Govt does not want to protect sincere sportsman, but corrupt politicans in the name of Election security.
There can be no Analogies between the two.
Also cancelling means conceding defeat to the fear of terrorism.
IPL should go ON, meantime all the corrupt politicans who did not gain in this IPL venture can sit and think about how not to loose their seats.

Make IPL pay for all the security provided.
by Vrajesh Vyas on Mar 05, 2009 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

IPL is a purely commercial venture.
They should be made to pay for the security provided by the forces maintained by tax payers money.

why even talk about it now? people behind IPL are either interested in the money or glamour it offers. Cricket has lost its meaning somewhere on the way. These people are not bothered about the risks and game. the way i see it a vacation from IPL will do the game good

IPL

I guess the whole of IPL is a vulgar mean of showing money power. Most of the corporates who own the franchise have removed people from the rolls due to economic slow down. Some of them dont pay salaries on time. I think the IPL should be put on hold or the govt should act strong on the companies who have spend big money on cricket and cutting down on employee salary and layoffs.

Neutral Venue
by phaneeswar on Mar 05, 2009 06:00 PM  | Hide replies

I think this is not the time to conduct IPL matches in India because of recent attacks against Sri Lanka team and most of players may not play IPL matches with clear mind and there will be a flop show from foreign cricketers and we need to follow Home Minister advice seriously and if IPL bosses are arguing that if it is postponed or canceled then franchise owners and IPL need to face heavy losses then in that case Neutral venue is the best option for conducting IPL matches and this will satisfy the dream of Lalit Modi where he has plans to host IPL matches in other countries and at this point of time it is advisable not to host IPL matches in India and it s safe to held in Neutral Venues. Last time when England toured India despite Mumbai attacks because our Government have provided enough security to team in order to prove that India is a safe place for hosting cricket and this time situation is quite different and government cannot provide security which they provided for other tours and hosting major events during elections is not advisable.

It is not possible for hosting IPL matches atleast for a year because if this year season is postponed or canceled then they have to host next year because Future Tour Programes dosent allow IPL to conduct matches

IPL has to be on - we nowadays only rely upon security personnel & not the licchar politicians err. home ministry..what nonsense neutral venue are you talking about - you are an Indian or not! IPL is our showcase, a lesson to so called developed, safe & secured countries of our enoromosity & capability - govt has got more than enough reserve force to act upon whom they don't want to deploy!

Iam an Indian only I'M talking possibility of neutral venue but this time Government cannot provide that much Security Forces compared to security provided when England toured when 26/11 attacks took place and its a foolish thing to put security personal to put their lives into risk just for sake of entertainment(im justified?)

If we donot conduct the IPL then we are hopeless nation like Pakistan..nobody will ever come to the sub continent when we can successfully host Ind-Eng series just at the aftermath of 26/11 shows Indian military force is the best in the world..This is rather the perfect time to show the world that India is safe for all foreigners and investments..so we must stand together for IPL not for only cricket but for India's image.

Even the security personnels are human you cant expect them to run between the venues for securing the players and the politicians. If champions trophy could be postponed why not IPL
