Hold your horses!
by bigben bigben on Jun 28, 2009 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

It is a list only of people who retired prior to 1995 as clearly stated. So hold your horses. Others' time will come.

In the US, they have Halls of Fame for all 3 major sports - American Football, Baseball & Basketball. Every year 3-4 new players are inducted into the Hall of fame. Players have to wait a minimum of 5 years before even being considered for induction.

Since cricket is a poor copycat of baseball terminology and all phrases American (e.g. Pinch hitter, fly ball, line drive, are all baseball terminology), it would be no surprise if this is what the ICC people have in mind.

Who is this nincompoop who says 'cricket is a poor copycat of baseball terminology and all phrases American', I mean ok, pinch hitter is something that has crept into the cricketing lingo, but no one has ever heard of line driv$e and fly ball. The fact is that baseball as a sport is a poor cousin of cricket.

Cricket Hall of Fame
by Ashok Gupte on Jun 28, 2009 07:14 PM  | Hide replies

In the news on this subject Subhash Gupte's first name is incorrectly spelt as Subash.I think this mistake occurs because of what I call as the "Dravidian Syndrome" in which "H" is incorrectly "removed" like mentioned above or "added" for eg Prashant,Jayant, Lata become Prashanth,Jayanth and Latha without knowing or respecting how the person spells his or hers name.

Prejudice agaist Asians
by Mak Kumar on Jun 28, 2009 07:09 PM

As usual the English dominated ICC has shown prejudic against the Asians- No hall of fame is complete without Lala Amarnath, Vijay Merchant, Chandrashekhar, Prasanna and Polly Umrigar. I am sure there would be a few from Sri Lanka and Pakistan also. India should flex its muscle in cricket and teach these guys a lesson
