Yes. I never see players like Laxman, Dravid and Sachin in trouble against short pitch bowling. They scored heavily in abroad.

The best players of fast bowling are invariably those who play the pull and the hook shots consistently well. Mohinder Amarnath is one example of a grt player of fast bowling. As far as 20-20 is concerned, one can't afford to leave short pitched deliveries alone as there are just 120 balls to play for. We hardly see dravid sachin or laxman play the hook shots nowadays in any form of cricket. I have also seen sachin getting hit by short pitched deliveries. Maybe it is our thinking and the mindset whereby playing hook shots is a strict no no.

Gambhir, Raina, Yuvraj and Dhoni playing hook and pulls frequently in ODI. But in test there is no need to do that if bowler have field at square leg and deep square leg. So Sachin, Dravid and LLaxman doesn't play it frequently. But there is also no trouble for him by short deliveries. Dravid plays sometines fantastic hook shots. Laxman also pull very well.

raina is not a good puller on fast pithces
he will have to come down the track like ganguly and play inside out shots to counter the shot ball
something which gambhir does nowadays

He is good puller, but he has to learn how to keep bowl on the ground. He always play in the air.

Sure raina and yuvraj plays the hook shot quite well. My point is why single out raina for not playing it properly in the recently concluded 20-20 games. If u r going to duck under even waist high balls in test cricket, then that does not speak well of ur cricketing ability. Have u seen the aussies gilly, hayden, ponting and co duck under the short pitched deliveries always? They might duck under a few depending on the situation and the field placing but more than 80% of the times, they wd attack the bowler and put him under the backfoot. Also, i have seen sachin duck under a waist high mcgrath delivery and was given out LBW! I dont say that sachin is not a good player of short pitched deliveries, but he needs to attack them a bit more which is quite capable of doping. The same goes for dravid who plays the hook and pull shot occasionally nowadays. The problem is anybody getting out to the hook shot is roasted alive by our media and the our beloved former cricketers. So why take the risk? Play safe and draw the matches, everybody is happy!

sachin stopped or say nt playing frequently the hooks n pull bcoz of his injuries. otherwise i never saw him to put face off frm short delivery even if ball hits him or when he ducks the ball.he always know whre the ball is goin.

Boss, i can quote one instance where sachin took his eyes of the ball and got hit. He got out LBW to a waist high mcgrath delivery in one of the test matches in Australia. The point is not deride sachin, who is a grt player, but we need not go overboard and we need to accept that there is no batsman in the world whom u can say is totally comfortable against short pitched bowling as gavaskar always insists.

the instant u r talkin abt, i hv seen tht. sachin ws ducking the ball bt ball did nt bounced. he might moved his head bcoz the ball came to his body n he could nt balance himself. its nt bcoz he got afraid. generally batsman took the face off bcoz they got afraid tht ball may hit him. tht ws nt the case wid sachin. thts the point.

Virat Kohli miss to break Dhoni's 207 runs record.....
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 26, 2009 11:15 AM

Delhi’s Virat Kohli set the Eden Gardens on fire with a 121-ball 184 that guided Mohun Bagan to a 97-run victory over Town Club in the P Sen Trophy final on Wednesday. Coming at No 3, after Manish Pandey got out in the second over of the match, Kohli took the opposition bowling by the scruff of the neck hitting 20 fours and eight sixes in his 134-minute innings. Just when it seemed he would surpass Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 207, which the India captain scored for Shyambazar Club in the same tournament four seasons back, Kohli perished trying to hit Suvojit Chakraborty out of the park. He had to take a break due to dehydration midway into his innings, but came back and continued in the same vein.

“My team-mates told me about Dhoni’s knock and I had that in my mind. I was unfortunate not to get there,” Kohli said. About his innings he said: “I was determined to make amends after the failure in the semi-final. It was very hot and humid out there. But the wicket was excellent to bat on.”
