Good Planing
by Venkat Pathi on Jun 15, 2009 11:01 PM

WI exploit the indian batsmen weakness with short ball Gautam ,Raina struggled a lot ..so the next match the Captain wih a very good plan added one more left hander who can struggle better the previous 2.

Pollard was hammered everywhere by SA.. but Dhoni the cool dude trying to settle down rather than targeting him...he is overconfident that he can hit Edwards or Taylore after settling down...

Where are the yorkers ?
by Venkat Pathi on Jun 15, 2009 10:39 PM  | Hide replies

Ishant clearly said that he cannot bowl yorkers ..he is not Umar Gul to use him after 10th over. He is highly ineffective in the later part of 20/20 because of no stock delivery like yorkers...

Dhoni mind if full of Media spate , he has been very defensive , never used Raina or Yuvi to bowl..reluctant to use RP or PK in the late overs.. what our Bowlers learnt from WI defeat ?

Correct. The moment Ishant came we knew the runs were going to flow. Bhaji or Zaheer should have been sent ahead with the orders to hit out or get out. That could have worked. I have seen both smash short pitched bowling. Infact Zaheers highest test score was in WI, when he smashed the quickies for 70 odd when the rest of the Indian Team collapsed in a test match. Plus guys like Rohit are ordinary and will click only on their day. He gets in because of where he comes from.

Dhoni ...is a selfish player..As a captain he is occupying a vacuum space in indian team.. Has got nothing to deliver. Gains name and fame in other team mates hardwork. If he is not the captain of the indian team , he might have found his way out of the indian team before the IPL itself.. Dhoni always thinks of his growth rather than team's victory....Its evident in several matches as we had lost several matches becuz of his poor batting and keeping skills........... Thats why he often promotes himself to 3rd spot in batting , just to score 50 odd runs in 80 plus deliveries ...especially run a ball in 20/20 format which is a big blunder....In 20/20 ...your strike rate should be above 150 if u r a good player.... Else u should be batting down the order next to Harbhajan or Zaheer ( who are far better than Dhoni considering batting in 20 / 20 format ) ...Dhoni should be sacked as a captain else given a rest for at least 6 months ....leaving way to Sehwag as a captain in ODI and T20 format.

Dhoni men deserve loss, they will be complete washout in super8
by Ram V on Jun 15, 2009 10:35 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni and his team desreved the loss. Last time when they won world cup the India team had youngsters who had hunger to win, this time they had earned too much of money in IPL and other tournaments they are not interested to win.
A win to Lalit Modi, who made them rich, but sick, incapable with no hunger and desire to even beat one team.

No we do not deserve that,we have a good team but mr dhoni did not utilize properly what players can do.Yuvraj and Yousuf are the best players for 20/20 but they were not utilized properly.yousuf played only 1 ball against bangledesh, did need to bat against scotland, played only 23 balls against WI AND scored 31 while mr dhoni came before him and played same 23 balls and scored 11 and then against england played 17 balls and scored 33 not out and we lost only by 3 runs.Mr dhoni is ave wicket keeper and as batsman he does not belong in the league of sachin, dravid, laxman, azhar ,at the max he can be in sehwag, yuvraj ,yousuf that also we could not include him in that category.

Dhoni, how much were you paid?
by Prasad on Jun 15, 2009 10:24 PM

It would not be a futile exercise to probe how much money Dhoni and his team were paid by bookies to throw away the match and the cup!

India's debacle
by K GIRISH on Jun 15, 2009 10:07 PM

Why last over was spared for Bhajji instead of Zaheer or Ishant. Bhajji's last over found very costly. His wider deliveries went for four. That boundry defeated India.

its just one tournament loss
by krishna v on Jun 15, 2009 09:56 PM  | Hide replies

i begin to wonder..why everyone is hounding after poor dhoni..for just one series loss..look at the no. of victories we have had after he took over..australia taken down in australiar, nz in nz, aus at home, 20 20 world cup.for just one loss..people are hounding him that too he was leading a jaded team..thanks to bcci's desperate move to have the ipl in sa.and what are we blaming dhoni..both matches were pretty close. we have lost worse before. but here we lost by just a few runs..so what..does anyone remeber how massive we lost in sa in 2003 ?do we remeber how we were knocked out in 2007? thaks to all these oldies who play for nothing but for records...here we lost because of a brilliant innings by bravo and by 3 runs to engaland..and we are blaming dhoni for all mistakes..who doesnt make mistakes ? please give him the poor guy some rest..we have learnt a lesson that some of the yougsters still need to learn playing shortpitch bowling..they will..the selectors should stick to them..instead of bringing back the useless good for nothing oldies..

You are right that dhoni should be supported but we can't help questioning some of his decisions which we can't digest at any cost. You said about bravo and 3 runs loss but don't forget that dhoni missed a golden chance to dismiss Bravo and he went on to win the match for WI and also losing a match by 3 runs with 5 wickets in hand is one thing India alone can do, shows that we didn't know how to pace our innings nicely. I agree with you that oldies should not come back but at the same time don't shun them the way you remarked forgetting the contributions they have made, for all the major achievements that you have said about dhoni, except for the last 20-20 World cup, it was achieved also through the efforts and experience of the oldies esp. Sachin Tendulkar

Your right! We have a lot of pessimism in ourselves. People just criticise them and don't don't talk a lot about optimism!

any remember dhoni's comments?
by vinay on Jun 15, 2009 09:52 PM

dhoni has reportedly stated that if a player gvs 80 percent of his talent, they vl win. so dhoni initially itself, didnt want 100% performance of players. he was happy with 80 % efforts.
look at the misfields from yuv which was unimaginable.

overconfidence on rohit to sideline player to calibre of sehwag
by vinay on Jun 15, 2009 09:45 PM

dhoni's mistake of relying heavily on rohit to such an extent that sehwag was thought of being sidelined had he been fit.
rohit cant take the place of sehwag the opener which dhoni failed to realise in his over confidence. rohit has no class to play good quality bowling. his shortcomings came to the fore alongwith that of raina.

poor jadeja.
by vinay on Jun 15, 2009 09:38 PM

nothing can take the blame from jadeja for his tortoise batting when the run rate was mounting.
but i fail to understand, y no 1 was giving him advise to relieve pressure on him. neither gambhir did it nor even vice capt yuv dit it. some sort of advise cud hv boosted his confidence when he was thrown in the deep sea.

poor jadeja. when he came to bat, others might hv avoided to come on the pitch when eng were bowling too many short pitched deliveries which others were afraid of facing n the other 2 ie rohit n raina were undone by it.
