M S Dhoni
by Ashok Sapre on Jun 12, 2009 03:26 PM  | Hide replies

Remember when Dhoni was not hundred percent sure of his mental and physical fitness he had guts to drop out of the tour to Sri Lanka even though he was just a new comer then. At that time there were two wicket keepers waiting in the wing ( Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Kartik).Sure enough he was selected in the Indian Team after the rest which he chose of his own will. Is it not fair that he expects same level of honesty from all the team members of his team and particularly from his vice captain. If he has changed it is certainly for better. If he is captain ( and a successful at that) he has right to demand certain things from all his players. That is how Australia plays and hence they were at the top for almost a decade.

well said pal! the scribes who have nothing else to do but create sensations have to wake up and realise that Dhoni is not there in England to have fun but to reatin the trophy for the country...this would most certainly add immense pressure on any normal person too.....but naturally the last thing that he needs is to be sorting out this kind of rubbish instead of concentrating on the tournament

Well the problem is we are not used to winning and our media just are not able to digest the fact that this indian team is really good. Media loves to criticise and loves to bring the indian captain down which unfortunately they are not able to do as the team is winning. That is the reason for their anger at dhoni whom they consider to be their spoilsport! Let dhoni not be successful in this tournament, u wd find our beloved media wanting a change of captaincy to Tendulkar! lol

you hit the nail right on the head pal ... indian media always had a traitorous streak ... right from pre independence days ... that time they sucked up to the britishers ... now also they are doing that ... they just can not see india winning anything ... they will be happy only if all indians die of hunger and they get to sip seagram's scotch

What Our handsome skipper says is untrue. He has been like that from beginning. He keep two sets of teeth..one to bite the other to show and smile (he has to keep smiling for he gets paid millions through ads). What Bedi says is right that Dhoni is getting bigger for his boots. And why not? millions are flowing and pictures and posters of the man hanging in every city and villages of India and that more than Priyanka Chopra one is forced to see tha man on the TV. Luck is hugely smiling on him and there seems no competition for the man from any quarter. He is king and the whole of the world seems to be his kingdom for the moment. BBCI has spoiled cricketers by paying them millions and allowing them to do commercials. In fact Dhoni's present clout is such that if he wants he can remove the BCCI president with one day's notice. try and remain on the ground Mr. Skipper only then can you see problems of all other players.

As a captain or as a player ?

As a captain he is doing fine as of now.

If you observe his batting S/R in recent past ...they are not inline with format of game

T20 with ODI S/R (Strike Rate)
ODI with Test S/R
Test with ODI S/R

And WTH, when Raina is in amazing form...this dork comes and plays run a ball when he can do that at 4 or 5 when all our inform batsman are gone. (Did the same with CSK and now with team India)

As long as team is winning, no one cares how Dhoni perform with bat (Something like what used to be with Sourav)

the real cricket starts on jul 8 with the ashes and aussies will kick some rear
oz is no 1 in test rankings by 10 pts and will only move further up
oz will remain true world champs
india in history have lost 40 more tests than they have won whereas oz have had twice or more winning percentage in all formats in history compared to any other team never mind that ind have nothing but cricket and in india-the population is 60 times bigger than oz whereas in oz, there are a dozen plus sports and cricket comes no 3 after afl and nrl
oz are also champs in last world cup in windies and champs trophy
btw ind will remain a joke as ever and oz will remain on top as always
i dont read posts i dont reply to

Mr..... who ever u r.

m agree wid u thtover all record of AUS is far better in comparision to india n few other teams. but u need to understand the reason behind that. india started playing cricket very late.Although india have produced some gr8 cricketers, it never been a threat for other big teams till last century. In this century, now india is developing as a world power in cricket and now is equaly strong as AUS in any format of the game. As the time will move on, the diference which is visible in past record will be reduced. n dont talk abt other games as in india situation of other game r very poor bcoz of poor policies of govt and lac of facilities. so dont b negatve as far as cricket is concern. nw we r able to beat eng and Aus anywhere in the world.

I think he has forgotten his pyrotechnic batting style due to sitting long hours and watching the game at pavillion while other players batting.May be he is thinking that scoring some 20 or 30 odd runs as a captain will be relieved him from blame game.He has learned good vocab for the post match ceremony.Fisrt he should bat at no.7 or 8 and let Suresh Raina,Yuvraj to play.

I put azhar beacuse in his time India got success with average players team. Second he captained India so long successfully while no other captain was able to retain captaincy so long like Azhar.

Winning a WC in ODI format is much easier than winning it in T-20 format, because T-20 is very unpredictable. You can see Aus lost Zim in last T-20 and now exit in first round.

BCCI should take the blame for the mess
by Cric Fan on Jun 12, 2009 01:38 PM  | Hide replies

What was BCCIs doing when they selected Sehwag without assessing his injury during/after IPL? If they thought it was minor, they should have issued a statement to that effect instead of making Dhoni the fall guy in front of the media. Also, I can't understand what the team management and media manager doing/ Why did they wait till the situation went out of hand before releasing a statement. This is the usual lackadaisical attitude of BCCI and the management. They are a bunch of fools who live on the reflected glory of the team and only contribute to messes like this once in a while, with their thoughtless and reactive manner of doing things. BCCI wake up !!
