Sehwag episode is nothing new for Indian sports, many sportsmen have been selected to represent the country in Olympics and Asian Games who were carrying injuries but managed to remain with the contingent because of the reasons best known to the Associations. We go to extremes when judging fitness of a player, for example Hanumant Singh was dropped for Australia tour on grounds of fitness but another partially visually impaired made the tour!!!!!!Jai Ho..................

right. by hiding the injury Sehwag has let skipper Dhoni and Team India down. He is such a senior player he should have come forwarded and declared that he is un-fit. sehwas behaved in a childish way.
Indian Players get injured at the drop of a hat... Here you have a 40 year old jayasurya, easily twice as fit as guys like Zaheer khan... these indian players dont eat and work out properly... Or, they simply dont have the athleticism which is so essential...
Dhoni said, he is not going to come at no. 3 thought the tournament, thaz really great news for all CRICKET lovers, now INDIA can think of coming to finals or at least semis. THANK YOU MR. Ms. Dhoni

dhoni is nothing but a GREEDY PLAYER who wants to make a good record in t20 world cup coz he dosent get a chance to bat n so he has promted himself at no 3.its good that he has lalded on ground for the best of india ane indian team.
Check out the series in West Indies in 2006 when Agarkar used to get Gayle out often...he has been the most successful Indian bowler against West Indies team in last few years.

Agarkar not only dominate on Gayle. He also took Jayasurya, Langer, Gilly so many times.

well said....Agarkar was very effective with his inswinging delievry against the lefthanders...he used to tighten them up around the off and middle...getting Langer out early was one of the reasons India was able to draw the test series in Aus in 2003...

most of these Media persons do this. they want to tempt us to click the link and see what happened.
India still can win this tournament even with all the controversies(mainly unnecessary) as long as the pitches continue to play true as they have so far been, any given day a damp pitch can show the frailities of this so called new crop of players, no i am not saying they are bad but fact is they havent been tested in trying conditions, so the likes of Rohit, Yousaf, even raina have to go through the hard grind before we conclude that the indeed are as good as they are made out to be. Well Whatever it maybe rohit can never have the impact sehwag would have had but i still think India will win the cup.

More than the expense that BCCI incur for him and his family's trip to UK, he quashed the chances of many worthy young Indian players sitting on the fence. BCCI should make the selection transparent and for this Sehwag injury incidence, its not only Sehwag to be made accountable but also the entire selection committee and the team phsyio. Dhoni's anguish was justifiable and kudos to him for being brave and expressed his anguish for a senior player like Sehwag. In the past, Team India was always burdened with the seniors like Ganguly, Dravid, Sachin ..

Virat Kohli doesnt give me confidence that he can take on the pressure. Moreover, Karthik i believe deserves the T20 chance as he has especially performed well on this format and is a inform player. Anyway, he wont be in the starting XI unless some batsman gets injured.

Irfan is a liability. He may score 20 odd runs with the bat but he gives away as many or nearly double in his bowling. Nehra would have been a better choice. Apart from his wide experience, he was one of the most successful and economic bowlers in IPL. Aside, he is quite difficult to put away during the death overs. Nehra would be my first choice followed by RP Singh followed by Pravin Kumar. I don't know why Nehra is not playing in the side. Someone has to take the case of Irfan - Is he in the side as a bowler? As a batsman? Or as an all rounder? Now that we are past the minnows, the real challenge for the team begins only now.

The one's you call a burden have always delivered. So called youngsters failed miserably in SA and it was the oldies propped up the team. Same was the case in Australia. India wouldn't have won the test matches down under without the seniors.
India's interest should come first before one own's interest. In Viru's case, he was injured and it was well known even to the Captain. When that was the case, why he taken on the team and when it became clear that he cannot be fit in time, he should have volunteered to the Captain and Physio and got himself relieved. But he did not and that created all problem for Mr. Cool Dhoni. He lost his cool during the press conference, a rare sight indeed. He is a successful captain alright but then he cannot take things for granted. The Captain must understand that there are several Virus in the team who can bat better than this humorous player. Take the case of Rohit Sharma, he has been batting better at his age and experience. There are several others waiting in the wing to fit into his place. See what happened to Tendulkar. India team is performing well even in the absence of Tendulakar and other four fabs. No is indispensable in Cricket. After Gavaskar, we had Azar, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid. Old orders would give way to new one, is the law of averages. The hiding of injury in an important event like T20 would cost India dearly. Luckily at this stage, they decided to send him back and Karthik is certain to join the team. Even otherwise, the team has been performing like a Champion as India has to defend the title. The competition is tough and no compacency factor should over take the performance. Every time they have to perform and each match is as important till cup is won.
Re: VIRU'S INJURY - WHY PLAYERS HIDE INJURIES TO BE ON TOUR
by kafir chronicles on Jun 11, 2009 01:40 PM
Dhoni wanted Viru to play at the cost of aggravating his injury. Shows how indispensable Viru is. He can promote Yusuf up the order. Maybe Yusuf is not an opener.... but he is one of the most promising cricketers in my opinion. I hope he does well unlike Munaf who can't bowl 3 overs on the trot.
