test matches will be history
by suresh babu on Jun 02, 2009 09:33 PM

accept it or not. the t20 is gonna sideline test matches slowly. BCCI will reduce the no. of test matches and will be thinkin of new new Premier leagues.

Those fans who have been following cricket for more than a decade or so (10 years), those who have followed the team through thick and think will NEVER in their life let their priority shift from Tests and ODIs to T20.

Those who prefer T20 over Tests or ODIs are mostly women/housewives or those who have started following cricket lately or house wives.

I enjoy all format in cricket. T-20 can't end test cricket but globalize the cricket.

That's precisely the point. Even I enjoy T20, but I'll never let that grow beyond Tests and ODIs in my mind. T20 helps in globalizing the sport which is awesome. But it should not grow at the expanse of the other 2 formats.

true. but test ckt (esp their pitches) also has to learn giving results after 5 long days. else its meaningless to end 5day match as draw.

Who will watch test cricket
by prasanna on Jun 02, 2009 06:05 PM  | Hide replies

Who wants to watch your skills batting for 10 hrs and scoring 30 runs..Everyone wants entertainment and cricket is one of the slowest sport, now only after T2020 its entertaining and even 50-50 is boring. As a public i dont want to watch your technical skills i need entertainment for 3 hrs thats it.

I think such people can go and watch a movie as well. I agree that cricket needs to be spread. but test cricket is not matched by any other form. it is the best for true cricket lovers.

i fully agree with prasanna. i have been watching cricket for the last twenty years. i used to watch oneday matches only rarely test match if shewaq bat.

i am also true lover and a cricket player, playing cricket till now.

In my opinion test matches should not be conducted hence forth. only T20 which only making us not to miss even a single ball and single minute away from that. we want this type of excitements only.

You just can replace a Sachin Tendulkar, sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxamn, Azhar, Sunil Gavaskar etc... by playing just 200 balls....
T20 is just a gamble... u just need some luck and hit some balls out of the park. it just doesnt test ur skills both physically and mentally..

I think all of them who have played cricket or who loves cricket would join me..

could u please recall the 2nd test match between India and Newzealnd in Nezealand where G. gambhir was forced to bat 2 full day to save the test match..... welll that was equally enthralling ... that truly tested his charcter, patience and quality...

yes t20 is fun but its not THE CRICKET which every cricketer would love to showcase his talent.

Boss, did gambhir win the match for india or was he playing Malcom Marshall, Holding, Roberts and co for us to go ga ga over it? I don't mean to run down the performance of gambhir, sure he is a fine player, but ultimately it is the win that matters, not how many matches u saved! U don't become a top team by saving matches, but by winning matches regularly.

Both test cricket and 20-20 are complimentary to each other, we need to accept that instead of arguing for or against it.

If you want to ban test cricket then cricket itself wont exist. Your so called T20 is just a promotional game for the cricket. Is trailer alone is enough for you to watch rather than a full length movie?........

"Toku Toku Toku & score century in 1.5 days & double century in 4 days"... dats much tougher than scoring century in a twenty over format.. u jus need to hav sum luck to score century in t20.. jus swing ur bat in a stupid manner.. ball wl go sumwhere.. n here, u score a century.. bt its nt da same wid test n ODI.. u need to stick in dere...

if the players are making century by luckilly in T20. dont watch it enjoy with test by seeing their physical and mental strengths.

i believe akash chopra, sanjay bangar are all superstars for you.

T20
by drunken monk on Jun 02, 2009 04:36 PM  | Hide replies

Only cricket fanatics will watch the Test Match. Rather follow. Rest of them will follow T20 just for an Entertainment Quotient.

One cant change. How many women in India follow Test Match. when you utter the word test cricket, they will yarn and say that please turn the channel to some serials and dance shows.

Sachin Knows it so he warns. But does the people will listen?/?

Hahaha... Who wants the ladies to watch cricket and who wants ladies to cheer up with cricket...
I am passionate about cricket not by the sexy looks of the ladies jumping around.. but rather by the skills of the cricketers be it in the test format or ODI...

I think Sachin is correct, not obnly sachin but almost every one who loves cricket passionately and knows cricket would love to watch a 5 day test rather than a 6 hour extravaganza...

I think most of us would have enjoyed the recent India Australia Test series better than the just concluded IPL...

You just dont count on women with your idiotic thought... welll you just follow cricket and you will be mesmerized to see a huge number of women watch all forms of the game....

Difference?
by Akshat Rathod on Jun 02, 2009 04:32 PM

Cricket is cricket... be it Test or T20.. there is bat and ball still involved...
what T20 has done is...
1. you will see ODIs where scores of 350 is chased with ease..
2. there will be test matches where games can be won in last tow sessions (even though you have lost remaining sessions)
3. we will see result oriented Test matches...
Batsmen will need to be more flexible for playing fast or slow or avg as per the situation.. they will have to pace the innings ... bowlers on the other hand will have to be cautious.. and find out what needs to be done and how?

Sachin bank balance up
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 02, 2009 03:53 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin should not grow because of cricket crazy fans, who want the team to win and not some selfish player. Sachin bank balance up at cost of patriotic cricket public and this should also not happen.
