I didn't get what is the problem of BCCI?
The players should have diven time to ICL to think and ICL on the contraty has not done anything. Surely a political move. ]

how can BCCI grant amnesty
by arpita on Jun 02, 2009 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

it is pathetic how BCCI, which is an autonomous body and not some approved authorised government body monopolize Indian cricket. India is a cricketing nation with the entire population of the country fascinated with the game, so many youngsters want to make their careers in cricket but never get chances. ICL gave chances to people who otherwise would not have gotten chances to play. how can BCCI grant amnesty to players who played for ICL, is playing for ICL illegal or a crime, is BCCI the supreme authority on cricket in India, how long will BCCI keep on favouring a set of 20-25 regulars who can play international cricket, in a country with the population this size, can we not have more cricketing bodies, what a great injustice and malpractice this is !!!!!!!

there are enough formats under BCCI for new talent to emerge.
Tell me honestly have u ever watches a singlr ICL match, and what do u prefer chris harris Vs inzamam or Brett Lee vs Yusuf Pathan contest
The point is about the quality of cricket, facilities, infrastructure, transmission quality etc.
Did u like the Panchkula stadium..... is it an internation standard ground??

ICL wanted the fall of BCCI after Zee Sports did not get rights for telecasting cricket matches. Everyone thought that ICL will kill BCCI, but the reverse happened.

The organizers failed to read that the worlds richest board has total control over the world of cricket due to entire support of corporates and consumer companies. Even ICC is a pawn in the hands of BCCI.

Lalit Modi was the pioneer and First person to conceive the idea of T-20 format in India. Before IPL could kick-off, ICL took the lead.
ICL was started by break-away IPL group.

The great Kapil started ICL with the intention of nurturing local talent. BCCI took cudgels against him for whatever reasons they know of. His intention was noble. But BCCI being the autocratic body has created problems for kapil.

Kapil Dev is not the sort of cricketer whose love for the game is driven by the desire for money. That is the reason, we have been able to win a World Cup under his leadership. His intention in creating the ICL is indeed a noble one. BCCI, being the political body that is, has tried to pull down Kapil Dev. That was their motive behind forming the IPL.
