aussies though have a great knowledge of the biomechanics - they have sports universitites to teach all these techniques - but it still doesn't give them a right to question anything that they can't tackle. If BCCI is termed as a financial bully... aussies are just bullies... they are sore losers and should better improve their cricket henceforth.

DP:

The debate is not about whether Aussies can play doosra..... Warne and Mallet have decided NOT to coach Aussie bowlers with doosra.... You have problem against that?...
Rediff as usual have bungled the original question itself and made out as if Warne is heading ICC technical committee and is going to ban doosra from next week...

get third thoughts and more... its not chucking as long as you dont bend your elbow beyond the permissible limit.

This permissible limit itself was set as a tacit understanding to clear certain players like Murli and Lee. Else the earlier classic law of cricket was simple - no bending - 15 deg or even 1 degree. So no room for dishonesty.

The Aussies tried to crack and imitate. After they failed in doing either they had resorted to their most lethal weapon.Raise a controversy.World should not be surprised if they start debating the legitimacy of reverse swing as they could not master it.

Re: Leg Cutter Vs Doosra
by K R on Jul 28, 2009 11:02 AM
A leg cutter is a type of delivery in cricket bowled by a fast bowler in which the ball moves away from the right handed batsman that is from the leg side to the off side.To say more clearly, the delivery is some what like a leg spin coming with a speed of 80mph.

Leg cutter for a fast bowler will produce a small spin from leg side to off side (According to a right handed batsman) in which there is a high chance of getting an outside edge to the wicket keeper or slip fielders

Doosra is the bowling variation of the off-spinner.The term “doosra” is an hindi word which means the “other one. we can define a Doosra as the Off-Spinner’s version of Googly. It is bowled with the same action as that of the Off Spinner but the ball turns from leg side to off side or sometimes it goes straight without any spin which surprises the batsman.

what are you talking about dudeman??

legcutter is bowled by a pace bowler.. the delivery "cuts" legward on pitching

doosara - simply put - is a legspinner bowled by an offspin bowler

Gr8 guru gantal.....dudeman.

Leg cutter the is word which used for Fast Bowler / Medum pacer. Who bowls the normal, foolish or good legnth delivery, after pitching it swings / (CUT)liitle bit away from the batsman. which is called Leg cutter (Mr. Venktesh Prasad used to bowl this delevery quite lot, you can observe his bowling.)

While the DOOSARA is the delivery stands for if off spinner bowls the Leg spin or Leg spinner bowls the off spin delivery without changing his action only by using his bowling thumb.

Hi

A leg cutter is a type of delivery in the sport of cricket. It is bowled by fast bowlers.

A bowler releases a normal fast delivery with the wrist locked in position and the first two fingers positioned on top of the cricket ball, giving it spin about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the length of the pitch. For a leg cutter, a right-handed bowler pulls his fingers down the left side of the ball (from his viewpoint), rolling the ball out of his hand over the little finger, in an action similar to bowling a leg break, only at higher speed. This changes the axis of spin to make it more like a leg break, which makes the ball deviate to the left when it bounces on the pitch. From a right-handed batsman's point of view, this deviation is to the right, or from the leg side towards the off side. This deviation is known as cut, and the delivery is called a leg cutter because it moves away from the leg side.

What differentiates a genuine leg cutter from a seam-up delivery that simply moves away off the seam is that it is deliberately bowled.

The doosra is a relatively new type of ball. Saqlain Mushtaq is credited with its invention, which was integral to both his success and the future of off-spin bowling, as it is unlikely that any off-spinner prior to him ever bowled a delivery which turned from leg.[3]
The naming of the delivery is attributed to Moin Khan, the former Pakistani wicketkeeper, who would call on Mushtaq to bowl the "doosra" (the other one) from behind
