Talent and discipline should go hand in hand if you want to succeed. If you are not willing to mend your ways, then nobody can help. You can always take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Another fine example of this is Symonds. So go figure!

Well , he was discriminated by the cast he was playing in the Indian team at that time. Lets put it that way ... LOL
Kambli and Manjrekar kicked out from Indian Team more or less in the same time. The main reason of their ouster is the emergence of two far better players in Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.

Anytime, Kambli was better than Sourav. But kambli's discipline and his commitment to cricket is no way near Sourav's. So Sourav will be the obvious reason. Also, Sourav is a born leader, period.

Talent wise Kambli was.But cricket is not about talent alone. He lacked the attitude, commitment and the discipline of Ganguly.

If you have no knowledge of cricket then please shut up. Any cricket knowledgable person will tell you the talent & techinque Sanjay Manjrekar had. Even Sunil Gavaskar belives that Sanjay Mannjrekar was one of the top three tech. best batsman India had ever produced.
I agree he was a one of the greatest Indian Cricketer. The way people are reacting to his outburst, I believe that he might have discriminated. But I don't agree that he shoul have asked for favor.

hmm... some one who has actually watched Kambli play and remembered it. People discarding his double hundreds as against minnows forget that the other batsmen in the team did not manage it. They also forget his back to back hundreds against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. He is only the third player after Wally Hammond and Don Bradman to score back to back double hundreds. He had 4 hundreds in 4 consecutive test matches. Anyway.. he had one bad series against WI and that was it. His average in test cricket is still 54 How do you drop a player who is averaging over 50 on performance basis. People with a little bit of common sense will think about it

sanath, u may b right. but kambli may hv distracted his attention from ckt. he dug his own grave by his behaviour. its not merely bcci who slapped disciplinary action against him. earlier, it was vengskar from his own mumbai team, who had complained abt kambli for his misbehaviour (dont know what it was). may b attitude problem of kambli?
the point is kambli cant complain of sachin for his omission from the side.

I vaguely remember - but I do think Kambli got one last chance to be back in the team. Unfortunately, he played in a practice match and broke his bone and that was the end of him.

So many reason for discrimination. Caste, region, religion, money, language, color, favor, political pressure, jealousy etc.
Re: Re: Caste

add a few more reasons for discrimination; sponsors, bookies, captain's groupism, mismanagers in pr work, etc.
Kambli made numerous comebacks when Sachin was captain. He has only himself to blame for his decline. If you are good, you will be in the team. Who helped Sachin Tendulkar?? He stayed in the team on his own merit. He didn't need to hold onto anyone's hand to stay in the team. Players like Atul Bedade, Amay Khurasiya and others fizzled out after showing promise. How come they are not levelling such charges? Praveen Amre was also an old friend of Sachin and Kambli. How come he is not crying? He knows he did not fit into the scheme of things and is living a decent life away from media glare and without any controversies. Kambli is seen in comedy shows doing what he cannot do. He should be content with his contribution to cricket. Kambli has proved it again that he cannot mature.

Kambli couldnt face the pace of the westindian bowlers in WI series..whereas Tendulkar scored a ton..he could only play in india..and he struggled in seam conditions..who cares if Gavaskar nutured Tendulkar..Kambli should have taken help of so many coaches..ex batsmen..(Sandip Patil, etc)
Hes a failure..hes got a pretty-model wife..why should he whine..yes..he missed the big IPl money the newer players are reaping..His stand is outrageous..

the british media has been saying this thing for years now. looks like kambli has finally bought all their drivel.

Maybe he has watched too many black brother movies so he has forgotten that he is not actually black and has started to blame the "man".
