They did it again. First they did in Srilanka where they won despite of some key players absence. Dhoni lead from front and got MOS. Here India was in same situation. Again Dhoni got MOS and India won by 2-1. It was Dhoni's strong reply to media and some crazy people.

Dhoni is never an international standard player. Only biased fans like u hype him otherwise he is an ordinary player. When we win even against weak team(that also beacuse of luck), u will say it is because of captaincy. when we are thrashed in w cup, u will keep ur mouth shut as ur relative dhoni was the captain. What a double standard. Dhoni should be kicked out of the team once seniors are fit as Kartik is much better keeper as well as batsman than dhoni. Dhoni can't score aaginst quality side like SA, AUS, ENG etc on overseas pitches.

Only for people who have no clue about the game. For the rest, he is a player india needed for so long in his current role.

ys they mst b appriciated bt again no need to hats off bcoz lot of thing r there to improve- bowling- none of them were looking good(except nehra in 2 matches) batting- only 3 inform batsman were there. others were big flop. vijay/badri could nt get a single chance bcoz of some unknown reasons.
Re: Re: Hats off to Dhoni and his boys....
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 06, 2009 11:54 AM
After Sachin, Sehwag and Raina's return batting will be more stronger. As far as bowling concerned I think Nehra bowled well. Ishant looked in good touch yesterday after long time. Zaheer comeback will give strongness to our bowling. P.Kumar was not effected because WI pitches were slow.
Re: Re: Re: Hats off to Dhoni and his boys....
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 06, 2009 04:20 PM
Dhoni wiketkeeping was pathetic in entire series. He should be replaced by kartik imediately if India want to win matches against quality opposition. Kartik technique also better than dhoni.

by deewaker pandey on Jul 06, 2009 12:07 PM
its 50 overs game. u mst hv 3-4 bowler doin well. bt in this series india ws able 2 win the series bcoz WI is also inconsistent. c hw they won second game. look at the first game- bowlers ws lookin like helpless while defending 340. u cnt be satisfied wid this performance even india won the series. a good team would hv won the series by 3-0 bcoz both the game india won were very close n may hv gone either way.. next is the triangular series. lets c wht happens.

Be honest & admit our team was not good including captaincy/wicketkeeping irrespective of series result.

You could also argue india was inconsistent in their performance. See the second game. They batted well throughout the series, except for the second game.

Dhoni's men have beaten Eng, Srilanka(twice), WI, Pak and NZ in bilateral ODI series. Now only SA, Aus and Ban are remaining.
Re: Re: Re: Hats off to Dhoni and his boys....
by Chaturchuramoni Chatterjee on Jul 06, 2009 11:50 AM
Yes, to be number 1, we have to beat Aus and specially SA.
Against South Africa our record in all forms of the game has been poor so far. ODI series in India was 2-2 but in SA we lost 0-4 in 2006.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Hats off to Dhoni and his boys....
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jul 06, 2009 04:24 PM
Dhoni team without seniors will be thrashed by SA in SA(5-0) in any format of game. In dravid captaincy we first time defeated SA in SA in test.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Hats off to Dhoni and his boys....
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 06, 2009 11:56 AM
Actually whenever India toured SA some key players were injured. Like in last tour Yuvraj was not there. In test matches Sehwag was not there.

He is the biggest politicain india ever produced in cricket.Holding the fort by luck, manipulation & media friendship. His wicket keeping & batting against quality bowling(if pitch is not flat) is pathetic.Doesn't deserve a place in team on merit but some stupid biased fans keep hyping him for nothing.
People may not like the truth but the fact is following kind of people would always hype Dobhi
#1The ones who enjoys mediocrity because they are mediocre themselves like Dobhi #2 Media people whom sponsors of Dobhi have hired #3 A few Biharies suffering from identity crisis

nt a mature comment Mr LG. if some1 is doin well then u mst appriciate it. dhoni might b overhyped bt u wll hv to accept tht he batted well in this series.
Re: Kind of people who hype Dobhi
by Varun on Jul 06, 2009 02:50 PM
The really SMART people who hate dhoni
a) Fans of superstars who were removed by dhoni. Blind hate is the way of life for them and hence wierd logic and repeated eating of ones own words.
b) People who are new or novices in cricket and cant distinguish style from consistency. They for some reason take flamboyance and strike rate for consistency. Example is yuvraj hailed for one good innings while dhoni hated for 3 good innings but not as flashy or destructive as yuvrajs innings. 3) Call others with ethnic names and show their racist roots. 4) Immature kids who started seeing cricket via T20 and think that is the world.
Re: Kind of people who hype Dobhi
by LG on Jul 06, 2009 11:41 AM
Goodbye. See you on this board when there is meaningful cricket---Champions trophy & World cup where it will be difficult for BCCI to fix the outcome matches. Tell then goodbye & Good luck.It is/was never personal for me. I tried to express my views about various players--great like Sachin & Kapil, and overrated and hyped players like Dobhi, Raina to name a few.
Re: Re: Kind of people who hype Dobhi

Get treated for your sickness while you are away. Maybe go to the LG repair store and fix that chip you have.
After the T20 world cup debacle many consider dhoni ,sheer waste as a batsman Now in west indies he suddenly emerged as Man of the series.
The Fact is that, he has always been a terrific one day player, but somehow he hasn’t mastered test match and T20 skills.
My theory In 50-50 scores around 300 = in 20-20 scores around 180 ( for team) Ie 100 strike rate in 50 overs = 150 strike rate in 20 mode (for a player)
If you go by this Dhoni generally manages 90 strike rate in onedays that’s pretty good But when it comes to 20-20, he ups it by just 10% ie 100 strike rate That’s poor strike rate for a 20-20 format. If you go by my above calculations He should be around 130 S/R
Players with 130 s/r in 20-20 are consider as good Ie, Gambhir, sangakkara, younis khan, G smith, etc
Players with 150 s/r in 20-20 are considered as very good Ie, Rose taylor, Bravo, y pathan, dhilshan, Gibbs, devillers, warner etc
Players with 170 s/r in 20-20 are considered as Great Ie, Gayle, sehwag, yuvraj, Afridi, symonds, pieterson, etc
I hope Indian selectors will pick 20-20 specialists for the next edition of world cup in west indies. Schedule announced for 20-20 world cup in west indies India are placed along with south Africa and qualifier in first round
And in super 8
Group E : Pakistan, south Africa, England, newzeland Group F ; India, Australia, srilanka, westindies
Re: Dhoni vs oneday/20-20
by Varun on Jul 06, 2009 02:54 PM
Good analysis. What dhoni is trying to do is to be a finisher. He is not looking at taking the blasting role anymore. We have more than enough players for that. What we lack is a finisher. But during that process, he has let go lots of risky shots. We have to constantly play T20 and ODI back and forth. And probably due to that reason, he is not quite effective yet in T20. But like kirsten said, he will figure out how to do the finishing role in T20 as well. Second is conditions. Why did all the superstars fail in england ?. That is one question to ask. Were the wickets suitable to hit from the word go ?. If not, then are these kind of T20 specialists the right choice ?. Not sure.

Yup.... the greatest triumph in India's 75 odd years of cricketing history.... absolutely....
To win a series 2-1 is no joke..... and we did it.... our team is the greatest and needs to be made the permanent number one ODI champions by ICC for the next 100 years.... no one can even touch us....
Re: Re: Awesome MSD!

Certainly not the GREATEST victory, but an impressive victory, keeping in mind that Sachin, Sehwag and Zaheer didn't play.

Yes, but a small difference, the four players you have mentioned have retired from international cricket.
Still, I admit their performance, specially the test series win in SA has been impressive.

wats ur problem with ICC...y bring it in this discussion? we should be happy that India won the series wihtout top guns Sachin,Sehwag,Zaheer, etc! Doesnt that make you happy?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Awesome MSD!
by Kool Dude on Jul 06, 2009 12:27 PM
SS: dunno why some people never get happiness...its understandable when the team loses but atleast enjoy the victories! In sport one cannot win everything..there's win as well as losses...as long as our winning record is good..the team shud be credited for it!
(1)Weak opponent (NZ, Srilanka, WI, ENG (2)Major contributions batsmen like Sachin, Sehwag, and UV and our bowlers were good enough for these weak teams. (3)There is very high possibility of series being fixed by BCCI
Dobhi’s captaincy has nothing to do with these series wins because as captain he could not win
(1)IPL 2007 & 2008 for CSK (2)Asia Cup (3)T20 world cup 2009

Re: era is over

I also think so. The reasons are:
Except SA and Australia, Pakistan play to be number #1 team. All other teams do not care. Moreover, their boards survive on the mercy of BCCI, which fixes bilateral series with these boards--ICC has no guts to punish them.
People tens to think match fixing was over when a few players were caught and punished. But, it is still there.
Re: Re: era is over
by manish manchandya on Jul 06, 2009 10:33 AM
wat maked u think that Pakistan plays to be No. 1 team.. If u r judging by the number of matches a team play...then Nobody want to play in Pakistan..they whole team is in a dessaray. Yes they won T20 world cup..but still they have lot of infighting
Dinesh, UV & Ashish Nehra: Should be credited for Series WIN
As I an Indian I fell good Indian win another series but I do not put much importance to these bilateral series especially against teams like WI, NZ, Srilanka. Earlier match fixing was done players, therefore it was easy to catch those players. Now it seems, BCCI is fixing matches with boards of WI, NZ, Srilanka (They need money to survive, who care whether their respective country is number 1 or number 10).
Another thing, credit for winning series against goes to Dinesh Kartik, UV and Ashish Nehra. Other players played supporting roles. So, one of the two: Dinesh Kartik or Ashish Nehra should have been the Man of the Series.
But, sponsors of Dobhi bought the Man of Series award for Dobhi just like they bought the MOM of 2nd ODI.
Ist ODI---India Won: UV scored hundred and India won & Nehra bowled well.
2nd ODI--India lost
3rd Match---India Won: Dinesh Kartik with good support form Gambhir gave India solid starts that led to victory (because of that we had an easy task of scoring 11 runs in balls). Nehra bowled well on flat pitch.

LG b transparent yaar. now no 1 is over hyping dhoni. he got man of the series bcoz he did well. he made run in all the 3 matches. i wll say he did well as a batsman.few players as u mentioned also did well no doubt nt dhoni made runs consistently.
Re: Re: Re: Dinesh, UV & Ashish Nehra: Should be credited for
by deewaker pandey on Jul 06, 2009 10:47 AM
m very much transparent. i m nt a blind fan of dhoni bt he deserves this award in this series. he scored well in all the 3 inning-41,95,46*. india lost 2nd ODI bcoz other batsman failed n bowlers did poorly. nehra performed well bt u see he took wkts in 2 matches only. similerly kartik made run in 2 matches only. also dnt forget tht dhoni ws keeper n captain too. he kept well also. h ws the candidate.

Correct your view in total.Have you seen in Indian one day history that any other captain has given a winning gift to we Indain for continious fifth series win ? I think you have a metal problem.G8 Dhoni(NOT dhobi) must be respected by we Indian like G8 Sachin,G8 Gavaskar & G8 Kapil.
