I used to listen to radio commentary. What a combination it was "Vishy-Suresh Saraya-Tony Cozier". I love those wonderful memories and i MISS THEM TODAY. when HE RETIRED i WAS DUMB STRUCK. NEVER ENJOYED CRICKET THE WAY I ENJOYED DURING VISHY DAYS. Hats off sir Vishy. my eyes are wet. I cant write more-------
Vishy was undoubtedly one of the finest batsmen in the world. His artistry is unmatched till date though Laxman or Azhar (in his peak form) can be somewhere near him. Vishy played some brilliant knocks, sometimes in unplayable conditions. In fact, his one particular innings in New Zealand under very trying conditions is an unforgettable gem. He stood alone, when wickets were tumbling all around, forcing John Allot to say, Vishy is a better batsman than Sunny Gavaskar.
Flawless batting and a connoisseurs delight. Not the same can be said about his selection of the Indian team when he was the chairman of the selection committee.
You are my favourate from the day I saw you bat for mysore against ML Jaisimha's Hyderabad Ranji at Central college grounds in Bangalore. you were run out and how MLJ danced in delight, he knew you could spoil his party.
You were simply great there after went after The best fast bowlers like Andy Roberts, Thomo, Lilly with grace and elegance. Your best knock in my opinion was the century you made in Melbourne against Aussies, India went on to win the match.
Great cricketer, True Gentlemen, wish there were many more like you.

why india ... the world. and ignore guys like desimee ..he's the type who will sell his mother for money when she grows old
hWith a flick of the wrist the ball would be racing to the boundary. The touch artist played the late cut so late practically of his stumps.Michael holding and roberts could not believe that bouncers could be squarecut, square or fine to the third man boundary. The coverdive would be adjusted late and played between cover, extra cover and square cover. The flick would be similarly played between the arch of midon and fineleg and the same with The off drive, straight drive and ondrive. There will not be another like him
A good article. FOr those of the cricket fans, who have not had an opportunity to see Vishy's batting, I would say they have missed some thing, that cannot be described. Vishy was a touch artist. Memories are still fresh, when he wold send the ball to third man boundary with a field placing of 4 slips and 2 at gully!! How great! I had the fortune of watching him closely, I have even seen many of the 1st division matches he used to play in Bangalore. Be it local league match, Ranji, Duleep or test matches, his standard of game was always good. It was always a treat to watch, his silken touch of the ball and just caressing the ball to boundary. There was never an occasion of brute force and hard hits. Yes, it was very unfortunate the way he was dropped. He deserved a better deal. Of course, he set his own standard. When it comes to Vishy, scores of 30 or 40 were considerd as failures! While for the others, similar scores were good enough to retain their position in the team selection. [Incidentally, folowing that series, we also had similar senior players getting dropped after every Pak tour - eg., Bedi on one occasion, Srikkanth on the next etc all had Pak tour as thier last test, after which they were dropped!!] WISH VISHY ALL THE VERY BEST.
