once upon a time, cricket was played only during Winter and was named Gentlemen Game. Now it is played throughout the year like a Movie and has already lost 75% of its original value. I remember Test players were paid Rs.5000/10000 and Ranji Players 2000/5000 depending on seniority. At that time, there were no sponsors and only very few players like Gavaskar, Pataudi, Kapil were ambassadors for few national brands. Now players earn more through endorsement than playing matches. World No. 1 Federer whose total earning is few hundred million just endorses two international brands of which one is Rolex. Whereas our fellows endorse at drop of hat without knowing the product details. And our foolish people purchase without knowing the efficacy of the product.
So this Ranking is not a botheration to our players and BCCI as long as we fools keep pondering our hard earned money on these idiots.
A wise man had said around 75 years ago that this game is meant for fools and it has proved right in 21st century.

You are right. We most Indians love to buy the products endorsed by Cricketers without considering the merits and requirement of the product. Also many Companies take it to increase their SALES on payment of huge amounts to get endorsement rather than to believe upon their quality.

However, there is/are exception too. Perhaps TATA group does not follow this way. And most bad experience was met by ALL SEASON FOOD company which paid a huge amount to Sunil Gavaskar but fell to the ground and now only few Indians remember the correct name of this Company.

I do not know much about cricket. Yet, I would agree with conviction that the majority of Indian commoners are foolish beyond repair. This is the sole reason why they keep re-electing thieves !!

Once upon a time man carved tools out of stone. Now we have laser and titanium. Really, mankind is foolish.
So were you the wise men who said this 75 years ago, I understand that you are now old and have grown boobies

wonderful comment. People like Boobies forget that cricket is now a real competitive sport. In fielding you have to sweat hard to save every run. Gone are the days when fatties and unfit people use to play this game and use to worry about their clothes before diving on the ground. It is true that cricket is more entertainment but do you boobies know that a top level ice hockey , basketball and college football player in US earns more than Dhoni. These guys are endorsing brands because they are real role models and have worked really hard to become one.

England winning the Kingsmead Test is a huge boost for cricket. The team has been playing cricket out of their skins for quite sometime.

Keep it up England.
Congratualation to Andrew Strauss!

Amazing, isn't it? They defeated Aussies last summer and now they may defeat SA in the series, two of the top three test teams. And nobody talks about them.

Sachin may not be in great form but still makes a difference
by True Indian on Dec 30, 2009 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin at current form may be not good as Shewag Gambhir or Yuvraj and Dhoni but is better than rest of the guys available for selection.
And he will play a match winning innings every 4 matches.
so he should be played until a worthy replacement is there.

Mostly Sehwag is successful in Asian pitches only. But Sachin is all rounder. He performed better in aboard well also

Indian Team is No.1 in test by chance because in past Aus/SA teams not perfromed well and Indian teams get benefit of it. Indian feilding/bowling is like a village team

The only change Smith needs to make is to drop Ntini. Gibbs is out of form and Botha is not a good enough test bowler.
That said, I believe SA will win the series. This defeat will hurt them badly and they will come strong. Eng is a decent team but I don't think they can win the series.

Drop Sachin
by Sohail on Dec 30, 2009 04:19 PM  | Hide replies

The most important is Drop Sachin...

Drop Sachin for Ever and let the youngster bring some pride for the country..

I am least bothered how many runs he has scored or how many centuries he has made. We have never won a world cup in which Sachin has played. We will lose 2011 as well if Sachin plays.

For me country comes first and then Sachin or any individual.

hey...if u think that sachin alone can win u a world cup...then..u r nothing but a selfish chicken...remember who brought india through to semi-finals in 1996 world cup..it was sachin who scored 596 runs in that world cup...but none other performed except him so we lost.....
remember who brought india through to finals in 2003 world cup...it was sachin who scored 673 runs but again no one else performed so we lost....idiot...if u still think that sachin has noy won u world cup...then go and die...go to hell...!!!
