captain viru
by vinay on Dec 20, 2009 11:59 PM

"Whether I'm captain of the team or not doesn't matter, my job is to go out there and score runs."
viru ur role is wider now. its not merely scoring runs n getting out sometimes in the first over itself. u vl hv to plan the on field strategy!!! isnt it?

Last chance for Dinesh karthik
by gaurav manchanda on Dec 20, 2009 11:19 PM  | Hide replies

i think these two matches are very crucial for Dinesh Karthik. He should take his opportunity to cement his place in Indian 16 men squad. if he failed this time also then it will be very difficult to make a comeback in the team.

in the last 9 months, Wridhimaan Saha has emerged as the best candidate for the slot of backup wicketkeeper.

problem is the same players r getting chances inspite of so many failures. karthik was dropped but once dhoni gets rest, karthik comes by default.
ishant was droped after so many failures. ishant is not fit for shorter version of the game. but once sreesanth is rested, ishant gets in the team 'by default' n without any performance at all.

my dear Friend,Karthik is a Better Batsman or W.Keeper than Dhoni,Dhoni leaves only on Hype.Karthik has already proved all Critics wrong by his Performances..Don forget we won a Series in England just Bcoz of Karticks Heroics..He needs to be given more chances,So that he can develop as a International Player. Its not about he's from Tamilnadu or Karnataka...

DAKKEN MOORRON I m not against kartik, but he already got lots of oppurtunity, but not look like a internatinal player,Dhoni is best available wk in india, also best odi bestman at middle order ICC ranking also proves that,so do,nt even think to compare this poor kartik to dhoni.

Dilshan vs Ishant
by gaurav manchanda on Dec 20, 2009 10:44 PM

The biggest trouble for India is DILSHAN. Ishant has always been a threat for Dilshan.

In last 3 T20 Internationals held between India and Sri Lanka, ISHANT has always troubled Dilshan. In the 1st T20 Against Lanka in Nagpur, Ishant almost got the wicket of Dilshan (but he could nt hold the catch and also Dilshan scored just 3 runs of Ishant's 10 balls ). In 2nd T20 at Mohali, Ishant also get Dilshan bowled (0 runs by Dilshan in that Match). In T20I against Sri Lanka at Coulmbo in feb 2009 ishant got the prize wicket of Dilshan.

Also in 13 matches, Ishant has played against Lanka, Ishant got out the Dilshan twice.

Indian Team doing well in indian pitch , but the same team goes abroad , sudden death , suddenly people talk about removing Shewag , gambir , sachin .. etc.
Indians should play in better pitch than dead pitch, then only the justification of Team can be done.

replace kohli with jadeja. jadeja is not a better batsman than kohli but Indian team is helpless they have to play jadeja at any cost due to his part-time bowling.

Blessing in disguise
by Ashish Kumar on Dec 20, 2009 09:37 PM  | Hide replies

Ban on Dhoni is a blessing in disguise. For one, we shall get to know whether he is as indispensable as he appears to be, going by the past records. If his absence is keenly felt, this will improve the bonding in the team. The selectors are clearly grooming Karthik ahead of Parthiv Patel, despite Dhoni's preference for the latter. The Tamil Nadu connection of the Selection Committee is too evident. This need not be derided as all Selection Committees have shown such parochialism in the past. At the end of these two matches we shall know once and for all how good or bad Karthik is. This too will be good for the team.

Actually speaking the best captain after Dhoni in this present squad is Dinesh Karthik.... I am not sayin tat he shud me made captain, which is impossible... But practically he is much better than sehwag or gauti...he lead TN well for 2 yrs now..and was termed as captaincy material by greg chappel and john wright...

The problem with kartick is that he has got enough chances and although a gutsy cricketer, but has hardly been consistent. These guys dont make the most of their chances.

but Karthik still has to prove himself as a batsman in all 3 forms of game at international level. Dinesh karthik is very talented but he hasnt get matured as a batsman. he will definitely become the mainstay of INdia's batting strength after the retirement of Dravid, Laxman and Sachin

Suresh Raina should be made as a vice captain
by Senthil on Dec 20, 2009 07:26 PM

He must sort out his Short Pitched Ball problems. He is a really very well talented batsman and best fielder. He can bowl few good overs too. Tomorrow's match Ishant should replace Nehra and Raina must bat at No.5 after Yuvi and ahead of D.Karthik. R.Jadeja bats well nad bowls badly or Bowls well and bats badly. nothing to do with him with no option.
