I think the decision of Match Refree is not fair. The decision is too harsh. Dhoni is definitely at fault but Dew & injury to Mathews had also delayed the match for a total of 10 mins. After deducting these 10 mins. there dealy was less than 30 mins. and no ban is mandatory for 30 mins. delay. If it is assumed that Dew and injury to Mathews caused a total time loss of only 5 mins. then the delay was 35 minutes for which 1 match ban would have been sufficient. And it is not necessary to ban the Captain immediately in the current series. It may be concluded that Refree had some hiddent agenda to ensure that India doesn't win the series and Australia or South Africa became No.1 ODI team

can BCCI appeal against this ban? unfair to indian players....in the first ODI srilankans took more time to complete 50 overs.....they are not even fined or the numbers of overs for them was not reduced surprisingly....unfair refeeres.......obvious discrimination.....action should be taken against match referee and dhoni should be allowed to continue....isnt?

Definitely BCCI should stop being modest and take up the issue with ICC. The decision of Refree is really very harsh.

Very Good Analysis. I think the Indian Bowlers and Fielders should also learn that what their negligence can cause. Negligence in fileding not only loses the Match for you but also puts you on humiliating situation.

D. Goel,Pkl., afternoon, 3.10pm, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009. Of course it must be hurting MS Dhoni the captain of losing India's ONe dayer at Nagpur despite his 107 run batting owing to poor Fielding by his colleagues and later being punished for slow balling to sit out of the next two matches at Cutuck & Kolkata . Bad Day for a dedicated Captain . It happens. He should think intensely ,now ,over the week or so why the side is in this distressful condition and what can be done to improve the fighting quality of Indian cricket players if they at all wish to hold on to their supreme Test Ranking. well said anurag. dhoni has to learn from here. if at all required, the captain should consult only the vice captain. not all the 10 players in the middle. try to be a professional team!!
Dhoni must know that he can consult the vice capatin and proceed faster. Instead every tom, dick and harry, starting from sachin, zaheer, gambhir started to give advice to Dhoni after every over and hence the time delay.

hay u think sachin and zaheer are tom & dick, if so then u r harry
for slow over rate, dhoni gets 2 ODI ban... and on other hand, haddin n johnson gets their match fee cut over indicent behavior with suleman ben.... just unthinkable

First of all ICC is not verifying cases and taking decisions. They simply act like monkeys wheather they are not seeing matches. Let we indians buy them a good set of watches to all icc officails and then they will come to know what time match start and what time it closes.
