virat kohli a weak reseve
by premraja on Dec 15, 2009 08:47 AM

Virat kohli is a very ordinary batsman to have in the reserve. he can never push the present batting line up for place and can come in only in caseof injury.. yusuf pathan,Robin uthapa, mangalor M vijay should have been the reserve player

India can win all 5 Odis If
by anIndian on Dec 15, 2009 08:01 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni get rid off his personal grudge against Raina. “ Raina shdn’t shine India wins or looses ”
I hope nobody has forgotten Suresh Raina’s role as a –One Down Bat & Change Economy Bowler in IPL. He has maximum runs (855) with best S/R-141 with 39 sixs 73 fours and the longest six ever in IPL.He has taken 8 wickets with the average of 22.22.He has proved himself as a Indian hero .
But abig BUT Dhoni is trying his best to make him(Raina) zero that too at country’s cost.Dhoni is sending Raina at 5-6 Down even after virat kohli etc.
and just 9 overs in7 matches (9-48-2-5.3)

Life long Wild Card Entry as an opener for sachin ?
by km vb on Dec 15, 2009 12:29 AM  | Hide replies

Despite sehwag and gambir are doing their as an opener in all forms of cricket(Test Matches,20-20 and ODI),sachin is getting life long wild card entry as an opener.
Is this justifiable ?
Though team mates not showing or exposing their feeling outside, they must be having bitter feeling that boiling at every breath of team mate at every moment of his presence.

Agarkar and NEhra
by gaurav manchanda on Dec 14, 2009 11:25 PM  | Hide replies

look at the ajit agarkar's figures (in 2007) when he was dropped from the INdian ODI squad

17(ODIs) --- 25(wickets) -- 5.20 (economy rate)

Now look at Nehra's figures after his comeback into Indian ODI squad

16(ODIs) --- 25(wickets) -- 5.58 (economy rate)

Selectors dropped agarkar seeing his bad bowling form but now they are appreciating nehra for making a strong comeback into the Indian team.

The criteria for DROPPING is same as the criteria for saying GREAT COMEBACK.

It happens only in India.

he has not given proper chance, every time whenver he outperformed in 1-2 game he was dropped, if they have given him proper chance conti.. he would be good alrounder.. he get only one chance to play higher order and he scored 95 runs in that match.. evern he is the only one who was bowled 140k.

uthappa dropped from team after performing well in cb series...
by sudhakar on Dec 14, 2009 11:19 PM  | Hide replies

he is best youngster..better than raina rohit jadeja yusuf still coz of politics of dhoni and srikanth...his performances are consistently ignored...he just failed in IPL...otherwise he is most consistent performer whether its challenger trophy, duleep trophy corporate cup or champions league....he is best player (youngster) in india...why dhoni come ahead of uthappa against holland where he and raina scored centuries...that clearly shows dhoni's politics to drop him...after that raina is consistently selected in team and uthappa coz of dhoni didnt get chance...

mr. sudhakar, dont u know that DHONI and UTHAPPA are the JAI and VEERU of Indian Cricket team. Uthappa is not in squad bcoz he is the best friend of dhoni.

It was dhoni who asked selectors to include Uthappa for Tri-series in Sri Lanka and Champions Trophy. Uthappa is paying the price for being DHONI's best friend.

First get the correct information and then say any thing.

sudhakar, i think u dont follow cricket and also have no cricket mind. have u ever gone into the details of the cricketing news.

being best friend does nt mean that u give ur friend to play up in the order. u r playing international cricket not a gully cricket.

1 more thing, after 2007 world cup, Uthappa has always batted at number 6 or 7 and he also performed very well at this position (with an average of 36). if a player has success at number 6 or 7, then he shud always play at the same number. In both finals of CB series 2008 in Australia, Dhoni prmoted Uthappa at opening position but he scored 29 and 17. He was also promoted in the league match (against Bangladesh)of India-Pakistan-Bangladesh tri-series in Bangladesh June 2008, but he failed again as the opener.

Just lok at Uthappa's batting averages in ODIs at different positions:

1 or 2 : 28.08
3: 18.83
4: 26.00
6: 48.50
7: 30.88

so tel me, at wat number he shud bat?

I really dont understand your brain.
From your English, I cant make out whether you want Uthappa or not. Seems you want Uthappa, but want him to play at No 6 or 7.If he is frnd of Dhoni,as you say from your cricketing brain, why doesnt he play all matches. Fact is he failed again & again, even n IPL 2.But seems hes coming back to form , but still not up as other people are performing even better. So,his performances has to be consistent and he will be seletced.

BEST WINNING TEAM FOR ODI
by Srinivasan Renganathan on Dec 14, 2009 10:43 PM  | Hide replies

1. Gautham Gambhir. (Batting).
2. Virender Sehwag. (Batting/Bowling).
3. Suresh Raina. (Batting/Bowling).
4. Sachin Tendulkar or Yusuf Pathan.(Batting).
5. Yuvraj Singh. (Batting/Bowling).
6. Dhoni.(Wicket Keeper/Batsman).
7. Ravindra Jadeja.(Bowling/Batting).
8. Ojha or Harbhajan Singh. (Bowling).
9. Zaheer Khan. (Bowling).
10. Praveen Kumar or Ashish Nehra. (Bowling).
11. Ishanth Sharma or Sreesanth. (Bowling).

India's problems have always been in the BOWLING department.
If the following Bowling lineup is SELECTED for the Sri Lanka ODI series, we will definitely win 4-1.

1. Zaheer Khan. (Bowling).
2. Praveen Kumar or Ashish Nehra. (Bowling).
3. Ishanth Sharma or Sreesanth. (Bowling).
4. Ojha or Harbhajan Singh. (Bowling).
5. Ravindra Jadeja.(Bowling/Batting).
6. Yuvraj Singh.(Batting/Bowling).
7. Yusuf Pathan.(Batting/Bowling).
8. Suresh Raina.(Batting/Bowling).
9. Virender Sewhag.

Under no circumstances, Irfan Pathan, R.P.Singh, Munaf Patel should be selected because they are a bunch of mediocre medium pace bowlers, who are fit only at the domestic level.

Mr. Srinivasan Renganathan, Irfan Pathan is THE MAIN HERO OF india's BIGGEST WINS in cricket T20 world cup final (along side gambhir) and PERTH TEST.

1 more thing, poor jadeja is not a all-rounder. he can play only as a bowler not as a all-rounder and if he play in the ODI then he shud bat after BHAJJI, PRAVEEN KUMAR and even ZAHEER.

Re: Re: BEST WINNING TEAM FOR ODI

Mr.Gaurav,
1.Irfan Pathan:He is the only self proclaimed allrounder in the world who cannot bowl but claims to be an bowling allrounder although he bats better.
As, I have mentioned earlier, Indin team had always the problem of quality bowling/Bowlers in the past 60 years eventhough we had some good batsman.
So, Praveen Kumar & Ravindra Jadeja are better choices than Irfan Pathan, who has been given many chances in the past.
Irfan Pathan is another Ajit Agarkar who started with a lot of promise but failer to deliver later consistently.
The poor opening bowling of Irfan Pathan has cost many matches in the past 3 years.
Many argue that chapped wes Irfan Pathsn's nemesis but the opposite is true. Only because of Greg Chappel, Irfan pathan who was pathetic with his bowling was promoted at least as a batsman. So, Irfan Pathan should thank Chappel for his extended run in this Indian team. Also, Irfan Pathan is a great swing bowler in ARCTIC & ANTARTIC conditions-which the team cannot afford to play. So,please do not project that useless bowler Irfan Pathan who cannot bowl more than maximun 122-123 Kms/hr which even an ordinary schoolboy bowls now a days.
2.Regarding Ravindra Jadeja,he is definitely a better bowler and given more chances he will be a better batsman too & also being a good fielder. After all, Jadeja has played only a limited no of 20-20's & ODI's and surely he will prove to be a good alrounder in 20-20;s & ODI's in the future.

WHO WAS THE MAN OF THE MATCH IN THE T20 WORLD CUP FINAL and PERTH TEST?
If u know any thing abt cricket then u have heard the fact that A BIG PLAYER IS ONE WHO SHOWS HIS TEMPERAMENT AND CLASS IN BIG MATCHES AND HIGH PRESSURE SITUATIONS.

Irfan has passed in this siituation & ur bluddy jadeja cannt surrvive under pressure. he was the one who defines India's ouster in the T20 world cup 2009 and he was the person who causes India to loose the 5th ODI against AUSTRALIA.

in his short career, ravindra jadeja has single-handedly lost 3 matches for India. keep ur eyes open why the hell he was running blindly in the 4th and 5th ODIs against Australia. he created lot of pressure on the fellow batsmen.

Jadeja himself said that it was his fault and he takes the responsibility of throwing the match which we have won.

if u r regular to rediff cricket blog then u can see that there are thousands of people who do not want jadeja in the indian playing eleven as an all-rounder. if u think that u r having a better cricket mind and thinking than thousands of people then u shud apply for the job in different cricket websites.

I would suggest you not to talk about others cicketing brain,as it seems you do not have one. I am not supporting either Jadeja or Irfan. Both of them are struggling even in Ranji matches. Recently Irfan gave almost 6 runs per over in Ranji eventhouh he got 60 odd runs. Pls go to Ranji points table and see where Baroda is lying. If he cant influence his state team, Dont expect him to get do well against international teams. Fact is his bowling has gone down & has to show results in domestic arena. You talk about T20 world cup win. Comeon,if your same logic of Jadeja in that match, you will see that India won more because of stupidity of Misbah under pressure than Irfan. Infact , i cant recall the kind of performance you mention by Irfan in that match. I recall some good batsmanship by Gambhir, thats all. Irfan is a good talent,no doubts, but has lost it some where. Unless he regains it, there is no place for him. Moreover you cannot talk about one or two match performances tht happened some 2 years ago. Rememebr after that wordcup, one world cup is finished and another will start in 6 months. If you go by one match performance, there are better bowlers in the queu before him , RPSingh did well in England, Munaf did well in some matches and list goes on.Dont live in the past, wake up.

Dhoni and the selection comitee has given more chances to virat kohli where as Dinesh karthik got very few chances.I don't know why Dhoni is following kohli instead of other up coming batsmen? He don't want to give another wicket keeper to take his chance in the future.

Irfan = 2xJadeja in Strike rate
= 3xJadeja in Aggresion
= 4x Jadeja in fielding
= 5xJadeja in Batting Skill
= 25 X JADEJA in common sense
Remember Irfan is a match winner.. No Doubt about that... He is one of India's Hat trick taker... He was in out of form... But if Dhoni is encouraging Yusuf, Ishant, RP Singh, Rohit, Jadeja... Y cant the selectors give him 2 matches and let him prove his selection...

Controversely, Yusuf had been used just as a slogger and to bowl few overs... and Jadeja is a match-loser with his poor strike rate, lack of common sense and temperment while batting.. Hope u Remember how he lost Twenty20 matches for us which are actually to be won... So there are two possible doors for Irfan...
