Sachin -vs- Steve Waugh / Imran Khan
by rkp km on Dec 06, 2009 12:35 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin was never a great match winner. Agreed that he has scaled a lots of new heights in statistics and revered in our country.

But it was Steve and Imran who were match winners for their teams. Sachin's fans may see statistics excluding Sachin's heroics against Bangladesh and Kenya or something else.

How many match winning or saving innings he has played. Leave Rahul and Sehwag, even Dhoni and Yuvrag might have played more in their short career.

He could never win when our bowlers failed. We blame bowlers, but is it not Sachin's responsibility to show his God like skills?

Sachin wanted to retire after making it sure to INDIAN public that he is a match winner.

Still in search for match winning Innings in ODI and Test Matches as per his message"No retirement as long as I am enjoying the game."

May be Yuvi has to retire but not Grand Pa to retire .

hello my friend... before u blame Sachin, leave alone his records, but you shouldnot forget the fact, India was zero without him in 1990s. You are saying, he have not won or saved matches??? You said, Dhoni and Yuvi have more wins than him...You r myopic and just see who hits the winning runs, but dont see who give foundation for them to hit winning runs. Many of the matches these guys won have been laid foundation by Sachin. And its not a single man's game. Cricket is always a team game. dont just put blame on Sachin.

Hey Guys, Comon.. think how he played in 90's.. india won when sachin scored more runs whether it's 1st innings or 2nd.
and so he has scored many 100's againist best teams like aus(most 100's) and srilanka.. check this record properly..
if he is not match winner, last serious he showed what sachin can do in 350 chase..
I'm not only fan for sachin. i m for indian team..
yuva & dhoni & Sehwag are not scring good runs in all the matches.. Wht team needs at tht time everyone trying to doit.. see matches as Team India. not one by one

Congratulations for India becoming No 1 team, but I think the MOS should have been given to Dravid, as he saved India in Ahmedabad test.

Do not be emotional, man. Sehwag is the best choice for MOS.
Dravid knows only one way to play--ultra defensive. He can not bat fast even on flat pitches.
In this way, Gautam Gambhir is much better batsman than Dravid.

dnt talk foolishly....
in ahmedabad test... it was dravid who rescued us from a low score.....
Dravid has saved many tests, one dayers and won many of them..... and the level of fitness that he has got.... no younger players posses any of younger players . dravid played 78 tests continuously wid out missing a single test from his debut... even at the age of 36 he can still bat for long time... ur sehvag after batting for a day or so... holds his back

Congratulations Team. Year end gift for everyone in India. SriLanka is not a bad team, they have 2009 top run scorer Samaraweera and 3 more consistent batsmen in the team in the form of dilshan, sangakkara and jayawardhane. Still, India took 20 wickets in two tests and scored innings victories, which speaks a lot about the efforts the team put in. Wonderful effort. Australia not in the top 3 makes it more worthwhile effort as India is the first team which started slipping them on their own home turf. Way to go India.

Dhoni and Bhajji kept Sreesanth away from bowling!!!
by exoticbronze on Dec 06, 2009 11:09 AM  | Hide replies

Congratulations Dhoni! Your kitchen cabinet politics with Harbhajan worked so well! Both of you conspired to deprive Sreesanth of bowling opportunities. So at first you began by introducing spinners, and then when Sreesanth got an opportunity and took a wicket and bowled very tight maidens, you quietly replaced him with Zaheer, even though Sreesanth was bowling a tighter spell! Both of you guys - Harbhajan and Dhoni - were worried about Sreesanth repeating his success from the last test. So Bhajji and you came up with the good idea of keeping Sreesanth on the outfield while Zaheer kept on bowling.

Dont worry Dhoni, you and bhajji can conspire all you want. You attitude will only propel Sree to perform even better. Your and Bhajji's (Hayden may have had his reasons to call Harbhajan a 'weed' after all - he really needs being weeded out) games will not be able to keep deserving players out of the team for long.

Agree. I think this sort of petty politics ruins performance. Captain is as good as his team and it is a team effort.

Dhoni should stop feeling insecured and rather should appreciate and give more chance to those who are performing.

Sachin can enjoy game as a spectator but retire from playing ?
by km vb on Dec 06, 2009 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

Tendulkar Comments " No retirement as long as I am enjoying the game."
In both matches that India won Sachin didn't score a century whereas INDIA won with match winners scored century.Tendulkar is also enjoying as like other spectators enjoying watching Gambir,Sehwag,Dhoni and Dravid(Match winners) scoring centuries.
No spectator would prefer to retire watching these match winners.
Sachin can join Spectator seat and enjoy the game but Sachin should retire from playing?
why grand pa among youngsters doing nothing but enjoying game watching match winners score centuries.Sachin score centuries either on drawn matches and India may loose that game ?

km vb,

I am sure you will soon get frustrated, as nobody care to listen to what you say about Sachin. Better find you own goals to feel worthy of living in this world.

India will continue to love great Musssalmaans like Zaheer who bring joy to the entire nation. A tight slap on the face of those who want to divide the Indians. A HindooSehwag, MuslimZaheer and SikhBhajji have helped India win.

Where will india accommodate cheteshwar pujara, who got 2 Tripple, 1 Double, 1 Century & getting atleast fifties almost every domestic match he plays. Aged only 21, a classic player with Dravid touch, who will be an ideal no.3 batsmen in test & odi's for india. Will have to wait and see

Vijay for No.3?
by Pappu Saala on Dec 06, 2009 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

Kirsten should be looking at who after Dravid / Sachin / Laxman. These 3 are going to retire in close succession.

I'd consider M.Vijay is the best bet for No.3, not replacement for Gambhir! Getting to play now is good exposure allowing him to settle into the team.

mark my world. M.Vijay will be in india team for few matches. he will flop like jaffer who scored 2 double century in indian pitch.

i doubt new comer will get a chance in year or two to replace dravid. next one will be laxman. most of indian player inflated their runrate and recond on flat indian home pitch. even raina or rohit sharma would have hit few 100 if he get a chance to play this series.
