Why Indian Cricketers are so irritated?
by S Shrikanth on Aug 09, 2009 01:39 PM  | Hide replies

World's best players like Roger Federer, Andy Roddick or Cricketers of other countries and 500 sporting bodies worldwide have signed the clause and respect anti doping.

WADA code is draconian only for Corrupt and selfish Indian cricketers only because they take banned substannces and fear being caught anytime. Their actions prove that they are guilty and running for cover.

BCCI and its cricketers are so irritated with the code and now making execuses of privacy.

Dude,BCCI is nothing but a betting syndicate that whips up the national sentiments at their convenience. How else can you explain the interests shown by the folks like pawar, modi etc in this game.Is it because they love the game? A marwadi business man like modi is not going to spend his valuable time for the game ..just coz he loves it. or our union agri minister who in the past was known to be close to D company.. or the crook who is heading BCCI now.I read somewhere that he was responsible for the stadium collapse in Nagpur few yrs back. They made sure that ppl are crazy about this game and now they are just reaping the benefits.

Cant say as Saurav himself was propped up initially by the biggest fraud - Dalmiya. There are ex cricketers who are excellent managers/administrators.They are capable of running the show. But it seems like the entire stuffs is now being controlled by D-company as its a multi crore business for them...just look back at the Woolmer episode .. how pak govt stepped in to hush it up.

it is true that dalmiya was no better than pawar and his cronies. but the cricket board would be much better if we had ex-players i.e. players who have at least played some first class matches , to run the show here. I doubt if Pawar can even differentiate between in-swing and out-swing bowling.

Dude, most of the jokers in the BCCI haven't played cricket in their lives or were pathetically incompetent even if they did.(Ask Rajeev Shukla, Sharad Pawar, Shashank Manohar and the other fatsos to run 10 meters and they would collapse because of exhaustion). The cricketers are even worse, they want to play only for money. Now they are scared that skeletons would fall from their cupboards of they complied with WADA rules.

The rich and wealthy cricket board BCCI which brings 80% of money in cricket has been using its influence thats why no Indian cricketer was ever caught.

But the way Indian cricketers are reacting to WADA code, they are actually proing their guilt.

Why the fuss from Indian cricketrs?
Are they for dope or against?
What is the harm to indicate whereabouts to WADA?Change the place and send a msg.
It is time the ICC and WADA take a strong stand and disqualify Indian cricketers.
They feel that they are bigger than the game and the country.Knock some good sense into them. They are not invading anyone's privacy. To know where u are for the dope testing is important as sports and lifstyles have to be rid of dope.

Whom you people are trying to fool? WADA is not Australian cricket board to believe your monkey comment as Maa-ki comment? Even that comment showed your culture, way you were brought up, your respect for fellow sportsman.

If only people stopped treating cricketers as demi-gods,we would have been no.1 in cricket long back.Instead a country like SA is no.1 now overtaking the mighty aussies.
It is shameful that a country like SA which was banned from playing intl.cricket[due to racism] for so many years had overtaken India to become no.1.
It is because of cricketers like these that India has never been no.1[in icc rankings].

Ajai ..SA even during the apartheid days had arguably one of the strongest teams with the Pollocks,Procter,Barry Richards,Clive Rice etc and had a very strong domestic structure. So its hardly suprising that they are on the top now.Where has BCCI believed in dictating their terms and conditions to their fellow cricket boards. So just dont blame the players alone. For me it seems a bit suspicious.IF one says we have objection to testing, the cat will be out of the bag.So the work around is that we cant allow testing to be done during the off periods. And WADA wont change the clause for a game which is played in just a handful of states. So you have to read btw the lines here :)

Most of the other sports do not have any hallmark championhip trophies conducted every year. The only dream they have is to win an olympic medal. But cricket in it\'s own way is a big game. I don\'t think any cricketer would ever dream of winning an olympic medal. Just a thought!

WADA code is draconian
by sumit paul on Aug 09, 2009 12:44 PM  | Hide replies

Yuvi and other Indian cricketers are not against dope tests. Infact, they are routinely tested when on tour. I hope u remember Shahid Afridi was tested just after the T20 final. So testing isn’t new to cricket. The issue is different. I am very romantic about cricket and a die hard test match fan. .I often enjoy test matches with a peg or two of whisky and puffs of marijuana. I mean to say to you that these guys are mortal and how they spend their leisure time at home or anywhere shouldn't raise anybodies eyebrows. So what if a cricketer lazes around with puffs of marijuana when not on tour. The WADA is nobody to judge how a cricketer should spend his personal time. I think BCCI is absolutely right by supporting the cricketers. Moreover, cricket unlike other personal events is played for a longer duration. The shortest version of the game takes twice the time taken to play a football match. In athletic events like swimming, running where the game spans a mere few seconds it is more probable the outcome of a game can be ruled by consuming performance enhancing drugs. Another important perspective which you should consider is running or swimming or even cycling involves similar body movements throughout the entire span of events But in cricket sometimes u run at others u jump to hold a catch. Even when a batsman bats he puts forward a repertoire of shots that involves different body movements. Well u can argue performance enhancing drugs might increase the speed with which
