I want to know when will he retire ? He is very clever. Whenever there is tough series, he withdraws (like the one he did for West Indies Tour). I think we Indians allow him to play till he reaches 50 years. It is not surprising that he is inspired by Sunil Gavaskar who is one more Indian batsman who played only for records like Sachin. These two players killed other Indian talents. They know only to make records and winning the game was never in their mind. Sachin played 5 world cups so far, but he count't win any cup for India yet. He is the worst Captain ever. I don't know how can we call such a selfish player as the world class.

Totally agree......he has become an efficxient competent player in ODIS but no longer the genius that he was 3 or 4 years back..
As far as test ricket is concerned, he is still the best in the world.......chasing 387 against England at Chennai and he comes up with a magical 100.........

he wont be the genius of the past, but then no one can keep maintaining the standards for ever. He might have raised the bar too much even for him to get there now...but even if he is not the genius of the past, he is still performing above par in the team..so on what basis should he retire?

do you have the stats to back yourself up ? i know you will include the stupid 3 odi's in Sri lanka where every time he got out was to a bad decision. but besides that do you have the stats or are ya talking out of your rear end ?

I am sorry, but you must also mention that in more that 70% of Indian wins he has contributed enough. He has more that 50 man of match..which alone means, he single handly won that many games for us. Agreed that he has not finished off many games like anyone would expect, But there were many times when he had brought games from hands of defeat. Scoring so many runs, against all opponents are good average and strike rate is good enough to prove his worth. Cricket is a team game and everyone must perform his part. he has been doing more than anyone and if other fail we simply blame him for not performing...

well Ponting can average even 60, that doesn't mean he is a great player. Look at how he has played in Sub Continent (India, Lanka, Pakistan). All his centuries are in Australia, England and South Africa. Whereas Tendulakr has scored in all countries and most of his runs have come against the best in the world Australia.
Winning a match is a team effort and Tendulkar may not have won as many matches as Ponting did as the Aussies has McGrath, Warne and batsment like Hayden who scored 26 centuries in 7 or 8 years period.
Jai Ho Tendulkar...score 20000 in One day and Test and make sure the record stays with India.
