Why so much FUSS over a Gora made Rules?
by tovishal on Sep 19, 2009 09:54 PM

Indian bureaucracy is known for their 'good boy' behavior in front of Western Rules. They don't want to be seen as 'bad boys' on western stage. So, they bend down their heads and accept any rules Goras throw over us.

BCCI must be commended that they preserved their rights to negotiate any Unilateral policies being imposed onto them by a foreign body.

When WADA clauses were formed, there was no Indian representative in that Body. So, it doesn't make sense that everyone should just bend down and accept their rules just because Sports ministry did because they lack balls to deny Gora rules.

Kudos to BCCI! Rock on!

Both FIFA and UEFA have rejected the system citing privacy concerns. Now the BCCI.

Sporta the Belgian sports union who argue that the system violates Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Indian Media is as usual not aware of issues involved and have started barking in a knee-jerk way.

Also the Indian elites are as usual missing the deeper issues and rallying behind 'Gora is always right' syndrome.

Well all except Abhinav and Vishy live in Europe or the Americas. They dont live in a country which is surrounded by countries who deliver terrorists like rabbits. Abhinav and Vishy do not compete against Pakistan. The Idnian cricketres do. If God forbid, abhinav is killed by a lashkar terrorist, it will have no major impact but if the Indian cricket team is God Forbid killed by Pakistani Lashkar, there will be an immediate war or at leat there will be not peace with Pakistan for at least 100 years.

Some of them signed with reservations. Indian sportsmen questioned it. I don't believe they dream of abstaining.

Dhoni & Co can sign and then raise their points. Else, they don't sign and quit competitice cricket. I agree they should have a choice between signing and not playing competitive cricket.

I am amused. It is like saying accept all the terms and conditions of a loan agreement including a deterrent penal clause and then protest against it? The bank would simply say why u signed it, now pay it!!! Would u sign such an agreement vathula?

Why should we sign something which is unfair. Why should we resign? let them kick us out if they can.

Don't sign the bank loan agreement and don't take the loan. Similarly, don't sign it and don't play competitive cricket. The security issue has been clearly answered viz., the info is still private and confidential; the whole world will not know the whereabouts but only the confidential screener/ tester and only if the particular sportsman is randomly selected. The safeguards are well in place. Some of the top Israeli stars including Shahar Peer, a high security risk player, have signed this.

This is with regard to the first portion of ur comment...U mean to say sign it unconditionally and risk ur life if u wish to play competitive cricket? What i can't understand use some other mechanism to test them without invading their privacy, what is the problem with that? That way u give the cricketers no room for any excuse.

Whereabouts clause
by Rajesh Malhotra on Aug 03, 2009 04:25 AM

I think that the whereabouts clause infringes upon the privacy of athletes. Indian players and BCCI are rightly concerned with it. Moreover disclosing player's location 90 days in advance poses a security threat. Players like MS Dhoni and Tendulkar are high profile players and with what happened to SL team in Pakistan earlier this year, they have the right to be concerned with their security. And its not only BCCI, even FIFA is not fully WADA compliant because of similar concerns. Leading tennis players like Federer and Nadal have also raised their voices against strict WADA regulations.
