These are one of the records not achieved by just one or two days like double century or triple century or in a single match or series or like hatrick,it requires years and very hard to come by

Vikram, i think u have no knowledge of cricket. In slips u need a alert fielder, moreover its because of dravid the catches look simple. Otherwise it is very difficult fielding area. remember Adeilade Test in saurav's captaincy....he took the most difficult two catches on sachins bowling in AUS second inning.

Observe Dravid tomorrow and see how is he standing in the sleeps with both his hands on his knees even after the ball is bowled. He doesn't even know basics of how to position himself in the sleeps.

Yuvraj is amongst the great fielders. Yet when he 'stood' in the slips he floored important catches.
Look at the record table. Only one Indian in it. Others too stood in the slis.
These facts mean anything to your know-it-all nature?
Re: Re: Luck by Chance
by Raj Thakre on Apr 06, 2009 04:46 PM
Because he cannot run after the ball, throw the ball like other 10 players so he is standing in the sleeps.

why some people here in rediff tend to criticise anything to everything...I mean taking 183 catches is not a joke...lets give the man his due..
Re: Re: Luck by Chance
by Raj Thakre on Apr 06, 2009 04:54 PM
Its not that great Rajeev. Being there for 13 years and having played 134 matches, nothing great in that. Sleep is a area where catches come by. Look how many catches he had dropped so far.

commenting on one's achievement is like a fool feeling great about himself for himself and getting an Padmasri or Padmabhushan in his dreams. Mr.Raj first of all it is not sleep it is slip position and you stand there to take so many catches you will know the difficulty and pain of taking catches. You should have watched some highlights and writing the comments on Dravid.Instead of wasting time here to write comments go and have vada pav and tea idiot.

Thanks for your comments Rohith and spelling correction too. I stood as a slip fielder during my gully as well as university level cricket. See how he stands with both his hands on knees even when the ball is bowled. he has to position his hands in a catching position as catch come to slip cordon any time. And he was there for so many years so bound to take catches. Nothing grt in that

dear vikram great knowledge about cricket but please understand its not SLEEP it's SLIP, may GOD bless you
Re: Luck by Chance

I think you dont know cricket. Close in fielders are picked as they should be ready to take sharp catches. Most of the catches will taken within the reflexes of ONE second. People get lucky and take around 10 odd catches and will never break the record. Don't comment just because you want to.

vikram you are like our politicians who do nothing and just try to make others achievements look too little
Re: Re: Luck by Chance
by Raj Thakre on Apr 06, 2009 04:50 PM
Whats great in that. He is playing for 13 years and fielding in sleeps, catches are going to come to sleep fielder.

Please comment on a game that you know something about. Slip is one of the hardest positions to field in and Dravid is one of the specialist in this area. Better go comment on Gulli Danda (if you can that is)
Re: Re: Re: Luck by Chance
by Phani Shayi on Apr 06, 2009 05:47 PM
If u dont know, at the time when he kept wickets, the team dint have any specialist keeper who was playing well enough to be selected for the team and the team wanted an extra batsmen during the one dayers. He has achieved such a great feat and you are just trying find something wrong in whatever he is doing.

Dearest Vikram, firstly, its not the "Sleep" region, its the slip region and i guess u were "sleeping" when someone explained cricket to u !!! Ok, I think i need to explain it to you like a 4 year old, oh why shud i waste my time, a 4 year old wud know it already ! u shud be part of the "Ignorance is Bliss" campaign !!

Yes.It requires to be a specialist fielder to be in Slip.Sunil Gavaskar also played 100 plus matches and was always fielding in slips. Can you find his name in the list mentioned above? He also took 100 plus catches.

Gavaskar was also a great sleep cather. I remember he was named Man of the Match only for taking 4 great cathes in a match against Australia in Champions Trophy
Re: Re: Re: SRK REPLY
by naya savera on Apr 06, 2009 04:58 PM
as an actor SRK is gud for nothing and he is in cricket only for making money. he is ruining cricket and insulting the legend.
I do not know why people are hell bent on scathing the gentleman of the game. Rahul is 1 among very few left in cricket. Remember he was and is still a wall. No international test series success in the recent times was without his major contribution. Close in fielders also need to be the best catchers. Else why is Manuf patel being hid in the 3rd man or fine leg region? He did keep wicket without being one. Do you think he did because there were no wicket keepers left in the whole country then?
Re: Dravid haters
by Raj Thakre on Apr 06, 2009 04:59 PM
Dravid is WALL because - He doesn't score any runs which in turn puts pressure on other batsman and in the process loosing their wicket. At the end everyone is out except great WALL with a strike rate of 60 in ODI and 25 in Test match. Great WALL
Congratulations Rahul on achieving such a great feat. We are all proud of you. You have had a fantastic journey of Indian cricket. YOU ARE LEGEND and a great source of inspiration to youngsters. All the best. Thanks for making INDIA proud.
