The record breaker can now announce his retirement after the series....He has broken more no. of records than the number of matches he has won for his team....

Kumble
by kaushik saha on Oct 24, 2008 08:28 PM

whom will he replace?

laxman is the most likely choice

if India wins 2-0 here, badri can be given a chance at Nagpur in place of the poorest performer in this series

Better to retire as we have wonderful youngsters in Amit and others who are eager to Perform. This is apart from those who are with ICL.How kumble can be accommodated in 11 itself is a big? as everyone has done well .It may not be advisable to change the winning Combination.I think Bali will be poor VVS.I feel sorry for u man.

VIJAY IYER
Ponting/S.Waugh Vs Ganguly.
by VIJAY IYER on Oct 24, 2008 12:03 PM  | Hide replies

One shouldn't forget the fact that all the Euphoria that has happened over the past 2 decades where Australia has dominated the world cricket, they had some some world class players in the likes of McGrath, Warnie, Langer, Martyn, Gillespie(when he was in prime form), etc. Now with the exit of these players suddenly Australia is feeling the pinch. Its not that tough to Captain a side with these quality players in the side but its one heck of a job to Captain a side without these players. The reason why I rate Ganguly a "Better Captain" than Steve Waugh or for that matter Ponting is coz Ganguly has built a pretty mediocre team of 1999 to a team which is in the race to be the world's best. Hats off to Ganguly as he was the only person to rub Australia the wrong way every time he got a chance against them. Infact the so-called new generation led by Dhoni is nothing but a creation of Ganguly. Kudos to Ganguly and Cheers Team India. Go the Aussie way & thrash them in Delhi....Have No Mercy....

nobody is creation of nobody .. everybody is there because they deserve to be. ganguly was fine and is fine even now. people say ganguly survived for many years when he was not scoring because of dalmiya. not make fun of other people's ability. what you speak is not nonsense, but it doesnt make sense entirely too.

Even if one chooses to discount his fielding skills, captaincy skills and the fact that he has won two world cups for his country, Ponting would be in the playing 11 of any team in the world for his batting skills alone.

He is a match-saver, a match-winner, he HIMSELF has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging (a little heat is always welcome).

Just cuz the Australians are generally regarded as dirty players, sledgers and whatnot, people are accusing Ponting of things he doesn't deserve.

A little respect, folks. Ponting is an asset to Australia. So much so, the moment India gets Ponting, aussies are on the backfoot instantaneously.

He is their dravid, mr. consistent, their sachin, the record breaker, their ganguly, captain material, their laxman, the stylist.

he is Australiaz Fab four. Some respect, guys.

Haris, if he maintains what he did after second match (bravely accepting the defeat and true like truth) believe me, he will feel India like his second home as Wasim Akram feels.

Remember the Sydney test... not to long ago mate!

He is fab four egos rolled into one, isn't it?

He was the same captain, batsman and off-course the world class fielder who became an on-field Umpire as well and signaled the umpires (Mark Benson and Steve Bucknor) on the fifth day morning sessions to give decisions which were ridiculous and absolute shame.

So, you conveniently forgot the shameful decisions, in following tests, CB series and this series in India that went against Aussies...right??

Is it so, mr. short term memory loser.

India getting bad decisions does not justify Ponting's bad luck with bad decisions. Why the hatred for the wrong people?

it did assist fast bowlers, see the reverse swing. What can India do if Australian fast bowlers are not able to bowl like the Indian fast bowlers did?
