Indore ODI win
by Sneha on Nov 20, 2008 03:30 PM

Many many congratulations to Dhoni and crew for defeating England with a handsome margin of 54 runs, though smaller than the first win!! Indian team indeed turned Maharaja at the Maharani Usha Raje Stadium in Indore!!!

Mahi, your role in boosting and supporting the team was excellent, especially the way Yuvi displayed an all-round performance hitting 10th and his consecutive second in the 2nd ODI and picking 4 wickets in Indore; also Bhajji claimed three English victims, this was evident enough to realise how encouraging and understanding you are as a captain and friend to them. Noone is getting tired even after the Indore triumph, to appreciate and praise the Yuvraj; he was fluent with boundaries and sixes on the field that there was no feeling or even a trace of pain, post the back injury that he suffered from in Rajkot.

Yusuf, who walked to the pavilion for a duck in Rajkot game, turned a saviour and consolidator, fluently smashing his maiden fifty only from 29 balls, which pleased him as well as the team and secondly, his brisk run-scoring had India in better than before position; it was two achievements from one man.

Indeed by thrashing the Englishmen so aptly with planned efforts and laudatory team co-ordination, the Indian team really compelled the visiting squad to confine themselves to 'Indoors in Indore' and marked a 2-0 lead with grit and killer instinct.

Wish the team successful remaining games ahead and a series win.

Australia should be defeated
by aniruddh vale on Nov 18, 2008 02:25 PM  | Hide replies

I sincerely hope that australia should be thrashed by south africa and new zealand to banish their arrogant behaviour towards all the teams. It is imperative that south africa and new zealand play their best cricket and beat australia at their home to further aggravate their self doubt created by loss against india.

Being an inform team if south africa can play to their potential then they can beat australia...and there is zero chance of newzealand winning against australia especially when they are taking field without mccullun,oram....we can only expect few good performances from the likes of rose taylor, daniel vettori...

Quite possibly... As long as that money is being earned for legitimate reasons (for performance), I guess thats justified. It would be unacceptable, if they play badly for the same of money (match fixing i.e.,).

In effect, if they play well and earn more money, let them earn... whats the big deal...

They are professionals and get money to do their job. Just like everyone else who is working. Everyone works for money.
Therefore, what is the point in stating the obvious?

Yuvi
by Rajesh Malhotra on Nov 18, 2008 01:14 PM  | Hide replies

When I see Yuvi playing the way he did in the first 2 matches, its hard to understand why he has not made the similar impact at test match level. Obviously he has the talent to perform at test level. With Ganguly gone, I think in the coming 2 test series Yuvi will get a chance to prove his caliber at test level.

No doubt about the immense talent Yuvraj has since his early early days.

The reason why Yuvraj did not do well in tests, I feel:

1. He was labelled "wrongly" as one-day type of player by selectors --- and....... they wrongly choose to select "Wasim Jaffer" or Dinesh Karthick was chosen to open innings etc. etc... Well, it is OK, the percentage of error by selectors, of late in the last 2-3 or 4 years has been minimal. Thank God, it appears they are no more focussing on regional selections and fixed allocation of players selection by regions or states etc... Good that if that is gone forever and everyone is selected purely purely on class, form and dedication and the urge to deliver. Remember, without the urge to deliver --- even top top class player cannot respond appropriately as the situation may demand on field --- it could be diving to take a stunning catch, a stunning run-out or a stunning display of strokeplay or the resoluteness required to occupy crease as the situation demands!!!
2. Plus, in the initial days of Yuvraj, there were other established test-players such as Dravid, Sourav, Laxman, Sachin etc. in quite a good form and fitness mental sound state. Hence, he was denied a chance. It is OK.

Well.... currently, I feel, Yuvraj the selectors too should not feel bad about it and just enjoy the present good good form the Indian team is currently in ensure that in future, nobody is complacent or arrogant and just focus on good results!!!

at last one thing that makes England team happy
by adul adul on Nov 18, 2008 11:42 AM

Only one person who feel happy in England team is Broad. Because atleast he will compare himself with Yuvi only the way he has taken the wickets.
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th wickets taken by him against India and yuvi also took 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th wickets against them......

That time captain was Rahu dravid. But no credit given to him for his captaicy.
But few win under Dhobi captaincy & every one making him star .Its all beacause of biased media.
Rahul dravid was not given credit by media because he doesn't mingle well with media & maintain his diginity.
