many fool people are saying in this debate that sehwag hit scores onj flat pitches i think it was sachin who scored double century in bengladesh now look at sehwag double centuries and his swashbuckling innings of 198 in australia on the very fast pitch .101 in southafrica in the begaining of his career on the fastest track of the world two back to back centuries in newzealand when noone scored centuries in the both sides on the very fast track of newzealand .180 in west indies on the fast track and how can u forget he scored so many centuries all over the world when u dont know the statastic u shoudld not comment get ur brain right first then talk about sehwag the best player ever happened on earth he is the lord of cricket no bradman no sahin can be sehwag .no bradman no sachin can score 300 on less then 300 balls he is a sure class a genius
Sewag has a very positive spirit. He was playing to win whereas his teamates let him down by playing for a draw.
Sewag's fine knock of 150 in the last test match in Australia meant he was th eone standing between India and a defeat.
Dhoni was a total phony that did not contribute much in turns of runs in Australia in the test matches. In fact, does Dhoni deserve to be retained in the test team, when he is scoring 10s and 20s in the test matches?

This game was never going to end in a result. No match does when a player scores 350 or 400 ...especially when the opposition side also has several hundreds and 50s - its that obvious. Its as dead and flat a wicket as it gets..

Dhoni may be a better ODI batsman, but he certainly is not good in Tests. He has generally struggled against quality fast bowling. One recent example -- when India needed him to be there with Kumble to save Sydney test, he didn't survive long enough. In this test, he just had to play his shots, but he failed.
The problem is there is no other better wicketkeeper batsman. Karthik is a better test wicketkeeper but another terrible batsman with terrible technique.

Dhoni is a wicketkeeper mind you not a batsman and if he bats well that is a bonus for India. past Indian wicketkeepers were poor batsman. Nayan Mongia for example has in his 25 tests (37 Innings) scored only 989 runs with just 1 hundred and 3 50s and he made a dreadful 152 at a snails pace and his ODI average is even poorer in 48 innings has avg of 20. previously More is also poorly talented batsman. Kirmani is an ordinary batsman. Obviously I am talking about wicketkeeper batsman and not about wicketkeeping abilities. Dhoni is the best wicketkeeper batsman India has ever produced. He hits the ball majestically and scores at an alrming pace. One should consider his swahbuckling batting as a boon and bonus. Dhoni has an average of 36. Kirmani a long standing wicketkeeper is quite an ordinary batsman.

Bros, I agree Sehwag is a good looking player; but I believe he has a lot of spikes in his career and he averages 50 in Tests solely because of the excessively big scores he makes on pancake-flat tracks opening the innings. He is not a technically sound batsman - but an extremely effective player, I grant that.
As for Dhoni, don't trash him yet. He has the hardest job, doing sit-ups non-stop two innings and then has to bat - its very hard. Yet he averages decent and the fact that he has a 50-plus ODI average tells me he is a winner and when he gives up the gloves someday, I think his Test average will also climb up.

so what ? if keeper wants to play test cric. den they have to be strong enough to sustain any condition.look at Gilchrist and Boucher they must have gone through the same.. Dhoni has to do lot of efforts to survive in test cricket. Yesterday he was expected to score quick runs(75-80)but he failed.

Oye Siddharta, Did you follow the cricket in Aus? Sehwag played on last 2 tests and had scores of 29,43,63 and 151 at average of 71. And Dhoni score a total of 141 in 8 innings at average of 17.6. Sehwag scored centuries in all major test playing countries in the world. 309 and 254 in Pak, 195 in Melbourne in 2003, 121 on debut in South Africa, 180 in West Indies in 2006. Dont write rubbish and expose your lack of knowledge.
For all those who underestimated sehwags caliber and potential (especially selectors who have put out of da team for more dan an yr stating da reason as bad form)........ shud see his past records where in India has registered match winning games jst bcoz of the fact that he hit it BIG when he really hits...and in all you notice abt 90% of the times India has either won or managed to draw the match and dats Y when he hits its BIG...and its far too beyond for the opponents to think of winning the game......is there any such player in da international crik ??

Be the picth be flat. Dont forget we were down under to chase 550. If a batsman can stand up to score 300, it is a distinction. Cannot ignore it lightly. This is knock which saved us from defeat. You minus Sehwags score from the total, you will find us following on and no longer calling the pitch flat.

Even on a flat pitch someone should score. The fact that none of the other indian batsman scored indicates his effort.

moron, who exactly helped us win the Test at Perth (which was the only Test we won on the recent tour, btw)?

World cup? u mean the 20-20? Thats not world cup, thats kabaddi..one day one team wins, the other day some other. Its not consistent as ODI ...btw dhoni looks like the joker, short andthick.
i feel the time has come when india shud prepare good pitches which offer help to fast as well as spinners as our fast bowlers can do well on them also. today former sa batsman wessels was so happy with their bowling that he doubted if ind will prepare seaming wickests fearing sa bowlers...i think he forgot that sa batsmen are not too good against moving ball either as they have often struggled in testing conditions.
RE:make good pitches
by CricFan01 on Mar 29, 2008 09:57 PM
The greedy BCCI does not really care about the pitches as long as they can make crores. Now with IPL, the focus may further shift away from test cricket and ultimately test will become extinct. In the last 3-4 years India has been playing 2-3 times One dayers compared to tests and test matches have already been made secondary. As regards the pitches, even if they want to make fast pitches they cannot as there are very people in India who really know how to make really good pitches.

probably Sehwag is not of the same class as Lara but he is much more effective. We need match winners not record setters (Read Tendulkar)
