Sunil Gavasker
by Leons Augustin on Mar 25, 2008 10:03 PM

There was a time Indians were ruled by the British. The same continued even is their game of Cricket when we were playing that game. The rules were formulated by them and whatever they did was considered always right. India now is a power to reckon with in ICC circuit and I fell there must be some out to voice our concern and right in front of the Big Bosses, who are no more than toothless lions now. I fully support Sunil Gavaskar in openly expressing his views about his motherland. He has bcome the Chief of the ICC's Committe because he was great player of his days, when England, Australia and West Indies were at their best. No one can deny that fact. He had only talked truth about the bad manners still followed by the British and Australians. When the Harbhajan issue surfaced and Indian Captain Anil Kumble said "Only one team played with the true spirit" Gavasker was the first to support him. Even Sachin Tandulkar also voiced for Harbhajan Singh and we all had seen the ugly methods the Australians used and then came out with changed opinions to save their face. Chief of ICC's cricket committee is no great a position or status for a player like Gavasker to keep his mouths shut. Yes we Indians are second to none. I recall the incident when Bishan Sigh Bedi walked off the field in protest against the biased umpiring while playing against Australia. So also was Inzamam Ul Huq before he retired from cricket. We must understand the plight of Asians while playing against whites.

Sunny is absolutely right
by Ganpat Rai on Mar 25, 2008 11:52 AM

The fact is that these "Whites" are used to seeing us "Browns" bend over backwards to please them. They expected, as always, that we would back down on Harbhajan's issue and maybe drop him from our team in the name of "disciplinary action". Sorry my White friends, but justice will soon be done upon you. You were ruling the world in such an unjust manner (hardly 100 years ago) and filled the world with your filth... now the turn of the Orientals has come. Watch and weep as we rule you in the near future, and India will be at the forefront of power.

Gavaskar Vs Patriotism
by Shreyash Shukla on Mar 25, 2008 04:19 AM

Sunny the greatest batsman of yesteryears was often accused for only playing for records. But what i feel is during his playing time Aus & Eng were the dominant forces in world cricket and he could not voice his opinion during that time. But now after he is retired the way game has blossomed in India he seems to have found his lost patriotism. Sunny sir der aaye durust aaye.

S M Gavaskar's Foot in Mouth Decease
by Ramanjaneyulu Gandluri on Mar 24, 2008 04:13 PM  | Hide replies

These remarks as also his remarks against racism in cricket and behaviour of Australian players in reference to the death of David Hookes are uncalled for, especially when he is holding a responsible position in ICC.

Is he afflicted with the Foot in Mouth decease, as Rajiv Gandhi used to duing the 80s?

How many cricketer can do ...
as gavaskar did .
The answer is very few or rare out of rare only can do that one.
As we all see the sedeny test hagomony.
it was really shame for world cricket. And only one person sitting in commetory cabin criticising the absolute wrong decision made by empire and sprit shown by aussies players.
I really salute him for his brave move.

Gavaskar is a true Hero
by timepass on Mar 24, 2008 11:15 AM  | Hide replies

Sunny was outspoken during his hay days when Indian team was not taken seriously and possibly faced more discrimination. With India's growing importance in the world, nations like Aus and England have started taking notice. Gavaskar was truly patriotic and stood up against racism in his time as a lone crusader. Hats off to him. I am sure he is happy to see how the tables has turned today.

As always Gawasker is the only one
by TandooriRasamKadhi rosgula on Mar 24, 2008 06:21 AM

Gawasker has roared like lion again. Many here on this board have abused Gawasker and his thoughts in the past. But the fact remains that he is the only one who has spoken up everytime wrong was being to Indian cricket. The latest example is the Sydney test. There was no Shastri nor any other Indian commentator saying a word except Gawasker. He cared less about his ICC job, when he was defending India after the Sydney test crisis.

I always wonder where is that 6 feeter Shastri when Indian cricket needs him?
