Cricket has lost a fine bowler
by Preeta Raghunath on Mar 22, 2008 09:15 AM

The debate about the official status and the war between ICL and IPL wil rage on forever, but the sad fact that will always remain true is that Shane Bond was a brilliant bowler (even through the various injury worries in the past) but now in all this politics between the ICL, BCCI and ICC, he has been reduced to a shadow of his previously stunning self. Who are we kidding? 20-20 cricket , 9 times out of 10, is the last place a bowler of his calibure would want to be.

ckt and tv channels.
by ben hur on Mar 21, 2008 11:00 AM

compare the era where dd was the only channel. now with multiple pvt channels operating, apart from the wide choice to the public, these 100s of channels r showing thousands of programmes/serials, etc., giving job opportunities/livelihood to lakhs of artists . so it has been good to the country.

similarly bcci monopoly has to b broken. let icl succeed. more n more cricketers will get the benefit and survive on ckt. public will hv option. channels will hv alternatives. so icl is good for ckt.

ICL is perfect for cricket
by Antony Selvaraj on Mar 19, 2008 12:39 PM

Cricket is the real winner with ICL, I get to see so many youngsters of our country, except for those 12 to 15 players all the time, there are so many talented players, why not give them an opportunity to make some money ? and play with some foreign players too ?, Thanks to Kapil and Co for staging the ICL

Shane, you have talked about international cricket getting priority. If you are fit and ready to bowl(as you are now in the ICL), why did not you make yourself available for the home series against England currently underway

ICC has objected to to all the players playing ICL as BCCI has influenced them hard. Hence NZ selectors dropped him. Henceorth any one playing in ICL the rebel compitition will not be connsidered for there National teams. This is the case with Shane Bond.

How is ICL better than BCCI? Kapil dev is against the appointment of foreign coaches but maximum teams in ICL have foreign coach what does he want to say about that.Even the Physios are foreigners.I think both BCCI and ICL are the same I think ICL is just putting up a act of being professional

An Indian coach like Madan Lal who has some credential as a coach can do the job well but comes across with language problem. He can manage with Indian players as even south Indian players do understand workable english. But with so many forigners , I suppose our coaches got to do well with this limitations. This is the reason Forigners being preferred. By the way there are certain teams in IPL and ICL with Indian coaches.

What do u mean by the above statement? Is it that everyone else in the country can understand English but South Indian players can just get by with English.

bcci's bad politics
by sonakshi jain on Mar 18, 2008 02:37 PM

i really dont know y bcci is reacting against icl. i dnt think its fair.all matters is the game of cricket.and the one who performs and has the capability of representing the country shud be included in the indian team irrespective of whether he is icl or ipl player.people who dont know bout an inch of cricket are sitting n ruling the higher position in indian cricket.at state level youngsters r not included to play but only those who has strong backing power are given chance.our govt or even senior players of the team shud do sumthing n remove this ban from icl player.othrwise the religion of india (thats cricket) will going to be divided just like india and pakistan.

ICL
by Kart on Mar 18, 2008 10:33 AM

I think money in the game has created divisions in Indian cricket.ICL said it would develop good players, but the fact is the players playing in ICL had been already playing for BCCI, taking these players in the league and saying that XYZ player has performed well, but the fact is BCCI had given opportunity to this player to play for them so ICL cannot take the whole credit for domestic players playing well in ICL
