Mr. Healy, Shut up
by Kabadan Y on Mar 08, 2008 07:23 AM

His article one world of example to show that these guys can never change....how hollow his article is can be seen from the under current that all the problems were with Indians in the tour. Now please shutup and write in your own media how to play possitive cricket.

Rediculous Healy

This old guy is trying to get some attension. dont know how he is quoting Kumble made the spirit of the game..comment with with one incident backing.. I guess he was so rotton in his playing days so that incidenet like Ponting claiming catch for a ground ball are not looking bad for this guy!!

Turning point
by Sameer on Mar 08, 2008 01:13 AM

"Only one team played within the spirit of the game"...

This line by Kumble for me was the turning point of the Indian summer down under. We didn't look back then on.

This line was open to interpretations, and everyone had their own like this poor fellow Healy...it got everyone talking, accusing,

Ian has got it right in this article as regards what cause the aussies down fall, except the Sydney account which.

Guys the point of this article is more about how aussies lost it or the factors leading to it. Its doesn't focuss on sydney fiasco...so lets not get too bothered

Lets get it straight mr Healy

All I can say is that Ian Healy either suffer from Alzheimers or from amnesia.

"Sydney looked better, and except for one umpiring decision (Rahul Dravid's [Images] on the last day)"... This is the biggest joke I heard all summer.. bigger than ur joker Symonds.. There were 5 decisions in favor of Australian Batsmen and at least 2 against Indian Batsmen... Do u want me to recount...
1)Symonds huge edge of Ishant
2)Pontings huge edge (you might say it balanced out when he was given out lbw to an inside edge.. but it costed us 41 runs)
3)Symonds not referred for being stumped
4)Another edge in the same innings not given
5)Hussey edge not given
6)Dravid given out for no edge
7)Ganguly given out on a bump.

As for the spirit of the game:
i)Symonds gloating he knew he edged it.
ii)Ponting claiming a catch after having dragged it along the ground full six inches even though the ball came off the pads
iii)Read judge Hensen's transcript who subtly calls Symonds, Clark and Hayden as liars
iv)You talk about Clark not walking as the only incident, well Gilchrist claiming a catch is another.
v)Ponting claiming Rahul Dravid's catch is another incident which has eluded everyone. It was as bad. And it was referred to the third umpire. Dravid hit the ball in full and had bumped right at the toe of the bat before it went flying to point. His claim was proven worthless, why was his Clark's of Ganguly's credible? Why wasnt Ganguly's catch referred?

Australians have actually lost the Sydney Test
and also the series
Australia managed to win(only for record books) by pressurizing umpires,a lot of bias by
the umpires and by making false claims
Australians have managed a lot of Tests(pakistan also lost a test in 2000 tour sheerly becoz of umpiring decisions) in Australia with biased umpiring

Totally agree with you on all points except point 7....Ganguly was out, even in that, what was not within the spirit of the game was Ponting playing the role of 3rd umpire and Benson playing into his hands..

Otherwise, you are spot on Mr Goel..aussies are very poor losers and would use every trick in the book to unsettle opponents..btw, the same umpire(3rd umpire) who gave Symo notout in Sydney when the foot was in the air, was involved in 2nd final in Brisbane when Hussey dismissal was referred...this so called neutral umpire is Bruce Oxenford who cost us the SAydney test along with incompetent Benson and biased Bucknor..

Ian - remove your coloured goggles
by Indian on Mar 07, 2008 08:23 PM  | Hide replies

Ian - you are an experienced player - how can you let your views be so biased?

Throughout the article you have taken a biased view on all controversial issues. For example, you have written "The tactic of the summer for me was Anil Kumble's comment that only one side was upholding the spirit of the game and it was India. He had only Michael Clarke not walking on a certain dismissal to back it up but that mattered little." Please go and ask Kumble what he meant. You are trying to hide behind your coloured goggles like Ostritch hides its head inside the sand.

Kumble is too gentleman a person to talk about this one incident. It was the dog like behaviour (to quoe Roebuck) by almost entire team and Ponting's unsportsmanlike acceptance/goading for 10-12 horrendous decisions which made Anil say what he said. Perhaps you have not seen enough gentleman in your own team and so you do not know what is a good behaviour on team. So, perhaps you understood Kumble wrongly.
