Dont get so exited. Look Ave & No. of matches played by Bradman, Richards & Ponting(against England he averages 69.66). Tendulkar is one of all time greatests But not GOd. Otherwise why we are still waiting for World cup after 1983? why we yet to win in africa & yet to win in Newzeland ? in Sri Lanka? There are some pluses & some minuses to each & everyone.

Sachin is a match winner in his own right. It is not just because of his cricketing brilliance. Its because of his sheer presence, which motivates the players and also sends shock waves into the opposition. I still remember Shane Warne in Channel 9 recollecting his duels with Sachin. Nothing can unsettle this genius. He goes on and says for a player like Sachin "we need to work out many strategies to get him out". This is where Sachin becomes a match-winner. He always keeps the opposition guessing. Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, Vengsarkar, Azhar, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly are match-winners, but Sachin is greater than them because whether he scores or not, he keeps the opposition on their toes. The very fear of the rival bowlers makes Sachin a match-winner. Tendulkar holds the record for winning the maximum `Man of the Match' awards in one-day internationals. India has won almost 80 per cent of the one-dayers in which Sachin has scored a century. Sachin is an emperor in world crickeT

Tendulkar has shone as the one man gladiator for India. SOMEONE once said "an expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing". The same applies to those experts who have conferred upon themselves the right to come hard upon someone who I would term a national asset. Tendulkar outweighs statistics and numbers. That is reflected in his altruistic and dedicated batting which thoroughly impresses the cricket experts. Tendulkar is a match-winner, although in a team of 11 when everyone gives his best it would be an overstatement, but the number of times that Sachin has put India within sniffing distance of a victory is a sign of his class and commitment. Many criticize him for he has not won some one-day finals in the last few years? But how many of these finals would we have reached but for Sachin? Does it not take a match-winner to win the matches which take us to the final?
Some people seem to have a natural Aura about them. Sachin I guess is one of them. Other than the fact that he's had a very long career starting at age 16, he's just been a very good batsman and been around a very very long time and most of his records are related to longivity in batting - that's it - never been extra-ordinary. Gee, there are plenty of other batsmen who averaged above 60 and have more centuries per game played. His second innings record is less than ordinary. Shahid Afridi started at age 14 and blasted the fastest century in ODIs and I guess is a better looker. He may not have a great batting record but he's a better bowler than Sachin yet he does not enjoy that kind of global adulation. But since the time he made his debut, everyone - the whites, the blacks and the browns - have been in awe of him. It must be due to some Aura about him. Glad anyway that he plays for India!

Now here on each Shahid afridi can be compared to our own little master! You should be thrown out of India and u dont deserve to be called an Indian. People like you, never celebrate something but always look for the darker side of it and try to worry too much. Sachin had an aura when he made his debut at 16 and no one can deny that. Commentrators, fellow players and teammates alike put him up on a pedestal and spoke of him glowingly even then. He definitely changed the dimention of cricket and one safely even say that he showed the way for big bucks to flow into cricket. Yet if one considers his just his batting - it's not commensurate with his reputation. There have been far better batsmen out there, who played the game for shorter periods of time and didn't quite get the adulation that Sachin got - eg. Richards / Sobers / the 3Ws. Even someone like Kalis has a better batting avg. then SRT but he does not enjoy the status that Sachin enjoys in International Cricket. When Time magazine features cricket, the front page is SRT. Question is why not Ricky Ponting? It's because of SRT's fan following - the aura that follows him. I also said, I'm glad he plays for India earlier and I'm glad that there is finally more purpose to his batting. The last 3 series, he's been instrumental in guiding India to victory by playing well in key moments unlike the rest of his career. Bottomline - Celebrate the man, absolutely. But calling him the greatest ever - that assessment cant be logically substantiatied. Bradman was the greatest ever and his records speaks for itself. Sachin - I'm not so sure. But Sachin is probably the most popular ever cricketer in cricket's history.

Just 32?.. :-)
:-) :-) :-) Don't disclose such vital statistics on this forum mate, .. people like test, prabhakaran, and other great thinkers of the game will suddenly recall Barry Richards.. :-) (was funny how Kapil was suddenly eligible to play for India just because a 34 year old Sachin was playing.. ).. So not sure about their views on a Grandpa aged Kallis.. :-)
I am making a point which not many will make. I say,its a one sided sport which is now under the clutches of money makers.
I ask you why is it that always batsman are given God status? Why not bowlers?
Batting has been made so easy over the years. You have flat pitches which make even tail handers to hit sixes. Bowlers are always facing the heat and yet they are not given the tag of GOD.
I feel wasim Akram is GOD of cricket who could mesmerize you with his bowling skills and even sachin feared facing him.
How can u label batsman GOD when situations are in favour of batsman and not for the bowler
People love watchin bowlers being hit all over the park and this is the reason pitches are made for batsman
IF most of pitches are made bowler friendly,u will never see players like sachin ,ponting just scoring centuries and there will be no debate of GOD OF CRICKET
IN my opinion even bowlers should be considered for GOD STATUS

THat is interesting , You have found another way "To criticize Sachin Tendulkar". Is it his mistake that quality bowlers retired?????? Just to remind you that all his runs have not come in past couple of years when there bowlers were around ... He has scored them over a period of 17 years when people like Ambrose , Bishop, Walsh were very much playing .... I dont understand why dont people leave him alone and let him play ... If he bothers people so much why do they talk about him ??

If Sachin goes for a low score, test never says somebody else batted for India.. he says Sachin was the cause of India losing.. coz no other batsman ever plays anyway.. :-) That's why test and prabhakaran have to scratch their heads to find out WHEN Sachin scored in 1998, India won in the finals, and then only when Sachin found back his "finals" form and was on a song this 2 finals, India won again.. So mate, don't spread rumors.. Cheers! :-)

our win/loss ratio in 1932-1971 was 0.30 and after 1971 is 0.92. Bowlers always win the test matches and today we have very good fast as well as spin bowlers thats why we are wining lot of matches recently.
Hi Members Please study and try to know about India Cricket and as well as sachin records then talk here ... Dont talk just like that... Mental or useless fellow or jobless fellow only talking just like that
Well I know i will be disgraced ,abused , pelted with stones for writing about Sachin. Well This young lad has been so much talk of the town for past 20 years or so.
In his past 400 matches,he has just few match winning knocks and every such knock has come after long gaps withouth much consistency
I ask all sachin fans, When ever India had to chase score of 300 ,How many times did this Master Blaster help India??
I feel Sachin's presense has just helped sachin himself and not much to the team
Sachin is a senior player ,Did he ever inspire any young player to be a great bowler or batsman?
Imran Khan captained pakistan and he created a weapon called WASIM AKRAM AND inturn wasim inspired bowlers like waqar, akhtar etc
Sachin was also assigned to captain Inda and in his first match he scored a pathetic Century to fool the Indians that he is able to handle pressure as a captain.
If he really was GOD,HE would have inspred some young lads to take his place and today we would have had his replacement. But this guy is so shrewd and smart and he always kept quit and always thought of his positio
His recent comments " I rate this victory above 20-20" (series in Australia)
Cmon man,U were not part of that so does that mean that victory was not as imp as current one

well, your data looss impressive...his records are good in concern before 2002 because that records was much useful to convert to victory for india eventually..after that everything he played is for his personal records..he is not at all good in big matches especially big finalls..the best example is worldcup 2003 final..remember how he got out cheapily while sehwag opened the batting beautifully with 83 runs..he never contribute to win tournaments for india after 2002...that's why he looks very weak even if got attractive records overall...winning wisden rating never means INDIA is rated first..After all his records still australia is the world no 1 consequetively for 3 yrs...dont immediately blame other players for that..you guys got that cheap mentallity:)..sachin in his match after 2002 never performs good in finals and also if there is a big chase in second batting to score runs....winning match for india will be impressive than his crap records..

He failed in most of the matches annd it was these youngsters who got India to final and he just scores two knocks and becomes a hero
In my opinion it was a team effort and Some how it was due to Dhoni's unsual captaincy.
Let me ask u this How can u call him God of cricket When in past 17 -20 years he just scored one century in Australia but when he plays in India against Australia he has a good record
Why does he have a poor record against SA in one dayers when he has played in SA??
He also has a poor one day record against England when he has played on their soil
Same as pakistan..Our arch rivals
Now let me tell this to all sachin fans.. PART 2-- Sachin scores a century in finals against Australia is rated the best
WAHT about ARAVINDA DSILVA scoring a century against Australia in world cup finals?
When sachin scores a ton,its rememberd for years and in shj he helped to chase a score od 270 some thing and again v have under rated players like Gibbs who halped to chase a score of 400
Now its so funny to see on news channels labelling India as world champs coz they just beat Aus ..isnt that funny?
RE:RE:SACHIN OVER HYPED-READ WITH PATIENCE
by test on Mar 06, 2008 11:35 AM
PART 3 Can i call australia 20-20 champs coz they beat us in 20-20 in cur present series?
I rate Ganguli much higher than sachin. Mind you am not talking about Ganguli's batting skills.
As an inspiration,Ganguli groomed players like yuvraj, sehwag,Kaif, pathan etc and for the first time in history of cricket we saw a new team India who could go out for a run chase and this was never evidend before
Now go and check how many times sachin helped India in thouse days to chase a score and he failed on most occassions and India went on to make a world record for maximum run chases. I dont remember the count.SACHIN WAS MISSING IN MOST OF THOSE CHASES
Now today Dhoni is getting t he rewards for that aggressiveness which was imparted by Ganguli
Sachin's only contribution is that he has tons of runs in his name and few victories in India's name
Now sachins fans will abuse me and show me his averages. pLEASE watch those matches carefully once agian and notice it was also the bowlers who helped india win when sachin scored centuries
Now your sachin has failed in past and it took him 2-3 years to come back to form and he was yet in the team blocking place of many budding youngsters and MR PONTING has just failed in one series and whole of India counting him out..

PART 4 Let me remind you, this is not the first time Australia has lost a series. England did it last time and even their players scored centuries in finals but we dont hear theyr public making them GOD and chanting their names
Get over this non sense..It's shame you remember all the cricket players names and statistics but dont even know name of one soldier who have fought for India and they are given nothing from the govt
This craziness if ruining the country and over all thsi sport is just played in 11 nations and given nothing to India
Hockey team has won gold medal in olympics 8 times and yet no one sees that sport and we all blame the politicians..
Its us and only us who have to be blamed for dismal state of hockey ..
SACHIN MAY BE SELFISH AND WE ARE ALSO SELFISH..
IF WE ALL JUST GO AND WATCH HOCKEY REGULARLY ,IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY GENERATE INTEREST AND SURELY THERE WILL BE MORE SPONSERS..
SO GET OVER THIS HYPED SPORT CRICKET.. THESE GOD'S have not given much to India and cannot even give as Cricket is not a global sport
