A message for likes of Sachin The Great
by A Singh on Jul 27, 2008 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

It is quite possible that Sachin may score a century in the next innings. You may check the record. His scoring a century means that the pitch is an easy one and even Harbhajan and Kumble will score som runs. The Test will be drawn and India will have lost the series.
You will end up a happy man, because Sachin scored a century, and I will be sad because India lost the series.
By scoring 500 in the next innings, will his deeds of the just concluded match be undone?

Boss, i would be surprised if he makes those 173 runs he requires in this series if he plays like that! Let us accept the fact that for the first time our superstars are having to face two top quality spin bowlers operating in tandem. Sachin and company need to show more positive attitude and use their feet against them if they were to make a mark against them or the matches would get over in a jiffy!

RE:WHY KUMBLE IS OVERRATED SO MUCH ???
by deepa on Jul 27, 2008 11:41 AM
Before the test, Kumble & Co. told the media that they had sufficient ammunition to counter Mendis. Now, not only the famous quadret failed against Mendis but also against the wily M'tharan. No doubt, Murali is always a class bowler when you compare with Bhajan & Kumble.
In a pitch where Kumble & Bhajan not even turned the ball, the SL duo really destroyed the so-called strong Indian batting line-up.

All..Wait & see a Indian wash-out 3-0 (not due to rain)

So you contradict your own statement-"by the way, he..." with your subject. Murali failed when SL toured India and Kumble bamboozled the Lakans during the last SL tour.Did that make Murali a bad bowler? Why can't we accept the fact that it was the Indian Batting which let us down for most of the match as the pitch was true throughout.Certainly not a pitch to get out twice for a total under 400.Kumble had a bad match, bou knowing him, he'll come out of it.

RATS in front of real fast bowlers on bouncy pitches

and

COWS in front of world class spinners on turning tracks

and

SHEEP in front of quality medium pacers in swinging conditions

but

TIGERS when it comes to facing mediocre half-injured bowlers on flat placid homegrown strips of clay.

CUNNING SENIOR PLAYERS
by rambo only on Jul 27, 2008 11:27 AM

These senior players have made a caucus, not allowing anyone to enter in the team.
They are very cunning as they do NOT participate in Domestic Competitions, thereby AVOID COMPARISON WITH UPCOMING PLAYERS.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY (for them) AND FORTUNATELY (for Indian Cricket) THEY HAVE BEEN FULLY EXPOSED IN IPL WHEN PITTED AGAINST NEW PLAYERS.

By The Way, Kumble is the leader of this senior players as in past on many occasions he has been deputed as representative of senior players on various issues with BCCI

Excuse me, Anil is one who has won so many matches for india both one day and test, dont blame him for the defeat, what did your beloved sachin or saurav did. I agree harbhajan is over rated. Dont get panicked, still 2 tests to go, and for sure, murali has false action where every kid tends to spin the ball, i am 100% sure he has the benefit of the doubt and he chokes.

Murali & Warne are world class spinners. Kumble & Bhajan not even turned the ball in the Colombo test. Know that ICC has cleared Murali from any illegal action & the world has accepted it except you. Give credit where it is due.

Dont panic if not this series there will be more to loose in the coming future. U forgot VVS who will now boast of 50 once in while when every one else scored 10 , and stake his claim for the rest of his life.

INDIAN MENTALITY
by rambo only on Jul 27, 2008 11:14 AM

IS OF HAVING BLIND FAITH, WITHOUT RATIONALITY AND REASONING.
SO MANY FAKE SADHUS AND ASTROLOGERS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS MENTALITY
SO MANY FAKE PLOITICIANS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS MENTALITY
AND OUR SENIOR CRICKETERS ALSO SURVIVE AND THRIVE ON THIS MENTALITY

Please explain even if Sachin scores a triple hundred in third test (most unlikely) will it
a. Erase the defeat of 1st test
b. Will it change the fact that India succumbed with spine less showing and humiliation in 1st test

Runs are to be scored WHEN NEEDED.
AND SACHIN ALWAYS FAILS ON THIS COUNT (If not always, then, at least, mostly)

Drop all and send a new team to Srilanka
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jul 27, 2008 10:39 AM

It is hard to expect a team of oldies to win when they carried in their mind so heavily the fear of Mendis magic. The results were not totally unexpected. This time it was the old horse Murali that cause batting collapse in the first innings followed by MUCH better performance in the second innings. His total haul of 11 wicked in one match is appreciated followed by Mendis with 7 wickets haul, ably supporting Murali. Earlier Indian bowlers were hit all over the pack and sent Indian fielders on leather hunting. The oldies led by Ganguli, Dravid, Tendulkar, and Laxman with Capt.Kumble could hardly run in the field compared to the agility shown by the younger players of SL. Its time for them to hang their boots and allow youngsters to show their mettle. They would have fought and lost. Here there was never a fight from a single player. They never showed grid and character. Gambir played like in one day game and rest were in their worst outings. Its time for BCCI to select the most talented younger players who are waiting in the wing and send them abroad to get some experience and exposure instead of too heavily depending on the experience players. These players did their job in the past and now crossed their prime to expect them to perform like in the past. Its asking for moon from them, seeing their body language in the field. Its a picture of pity for players to make a procession in both the innings. It looks like a club side beaten fair and square.

The Test matches have b

VERY TRUE.
If we have to loose like this with humiliation, it is better to loose with new team of young players.
They will learn and improve with every outing. This is part of GROOMING Process.
But with these seniors, there is no benefit as they are already going downhill and will keep on going downhill.

So you are exactly on the point, we should now play with young players.

This new team of yours would have folded up on the 3rd day itself. Test cricket is not t20 boss. Save for Yuvi, Rainas and Rohits are too raw to face murali in tests...
