How true, that comment!I think only problem with Warney was that he was borne a few seasons earlier or later

Though Shewag is an incredible talent, Sachin has scored well in every country on every kind of pitch and against all kinds of bowling. Sachin is class, Shewag is an apprentice..

Sachins Test centuries at Durban,Perth,Sydney,Chennai,Headlingley are all moth watering remember there are 34 of them..

Even I like Sachin's batting, but can you tell me how many test matches has he won for India while batting second? He has never delivered while chasing which shows why he has been left out. On the other hand Lara is perhaps the greatest and a true match-winner who has almost single-handedly won many matches, so he should have been there.

Can you let me know how many of Lara's centuries have won his team matches ? 8 of his 34 hundreds have come under winning cause ? 13 of Tendulkar's 39 Test centuries have come under winning cause. So can you explain me how is Lara a great match winner ?

fissadi indian batting in newzeland and veeru shined
by sanju babbar on Jul 14, 2008 10:08 PM  | Hide replies

those who think veeru scored only on slow track
remember onday series of newzeland the fastest pitches on earth when no player from both sides scored more than 60 in that series veeru scored two centuries and 70 runs so he is much better player than fissadi indian batting on any pitch of the world .there are many more example like this

Guyz though statistically it's unfair to compare to sehwag with tendulkar....but he's never been a technically sound batsman ( he belongs to the hand eye coordination bracket......and then his superhuman confidence.....any one who knows bowling can hit him on head and beat him with 2 outswingers....followed by an inside edge to pads...but it's not guranteed that he'll be cautious on the fifth ball....he'll stil atempt to hit you if the bowl demands......and more often than not this ploy succeeds and demoralizes the bowlers....for instance see his centuries ( 300's baffling heat in Multan and chennai....195 boxing day on a fresh fast pitch against lee and gillespie.....100 on debut ( overcast conditions....against SA IN sa).....100 on opening day seaming pitch of nottingham.....166 on a dreadful chennain wicket against mcgrath, lee , gillespie, warne and kasprowicz....when the next best score in the test was 60...160 on a fifth day adelaide wicket....success on skidding trampoline wickets of NZ..which are not fastest as the author above acclaims but a testament to batsmanship of highest class...seam swing overcast and nagging dibbly dobbly medium pacers.......a hunderd 180 in WI...150 ON BREAKING WICKET in mumbai...after all all of his last 10 hundereds are a score above 150 a feat which not even bradman cud achieve leave aside sachins and dravids.....so guys give the credit where it is due......let's hail VEERU as like RD n SRT he has his own niche in INDIAN CRICKET.

excellent.exactly what i feel.sachin may be
sounder technically compared to viru but mentally viru miles ahead if sachin.count the number of times he has failed on tracks helpful to bowlers.may be once or twice he might have
scored but mostly he fails.but viru is feared by
bowlers world over.he has scored runs every where and agiant quickest bowlersand at a fast
rate.above all as opener and he was not an opener to begin with.so definitely worth his place in world xi and we stop this nonsense of
talking too much about tendulkar who is very
uncomfortable against spin except against warne ia one season. let us give credit where it is due and enjoy the feeling of an indain in world xi selected by english.

i abolutely agree to the gentleman here.........he is one of the rare feats of international cricket as pitch quality, bowl shape (old or new) does not change his style of batting neither does it change his attitude towards the bowler and the opponent.

how about two 300plus scores by the only indian.....and one amongst 5 international batsmen.....including bradman........!!!!!!!! says a lot about his temprament.

sir i want to know your age, have u seen richards playing any cricket in england etc. i dont think so, dont compare the greats with modern era batsmen wearing so many guards, helmets etc., they say test cricket is the real test ...and Viv till recently had scored the fastest test hundred..his 189 against WI in 1984 ODI where he hit 6 sixes against bowling attack of hendriks, botham etc was deplorable. Look at our own sunny , his 96 against pakistan at bangalore was a treat to watch.

truely said m8 but sachin and dravid can score 150 in perth, oval or durban wickets where the pitch is extremely difficult to play. Viru is a good player but bats tremendously well when the pitch favours the batsman more. Never to dismiss his 2 triple century but still he have to prove a lot to be better than tendulkar and dravid.

the very fist century which sehwag scored, tendulkar scored 155 in the same innings and sehwag scored 106. Also sachin scored more century against australia. Remember his 148* in sydney when he was 17.Also 119 in england. Sachin has undoubtedly far better records in both forms of game. Also i m talking about technique m8 not the hard hitters.

babbar bhai... then why Veeru bhai saab threw his wicket to Mendis .. why he didnt respect spinner and play atleast 1 over properly. Run rate was already 8.5 or 9 runs per over thanks to veerus brilliant shots against fast bowlers and Veeru was already on 60 runs in just some 30 balls something. So many overs left. Why veeru wants to show off and why he came out of crease in very first over of Ajantha Mendis. Why he cant respect their mystery spinner, watch him atleast one over and then try to come out of crease and smash him for six. Veeru got out and threw the match that day. Even Ishant Sharma being a tail ender played the maximum he could and played atleast 18 balls of Ajantha Mendis spin without throwing his wicket. Veeru should learn that WINNING for INDIA is important....not INDIVIDUAL VEERTHA. Finally India should win.. country first ....not individual show off. Srilanka who were 66 for 4 wickets down played so well and respected our Indian spinners and kept taking 1s and 2s and not try anything stupid like coming out of crease and trying 6s and all that like Veeru did. They played to WIN the FINALS. Veeru played just to entertain to crowd.. not to WIN the ASIA Cup. Same way Raina also tried to hit Mendis for a 6 in very 2nd over and lost his stumps.. clean bowled. Atleast Dhoni, Ishant Sharma played sometime. Else India would have lost by 200 runs .. Thank God we lost by 100 runs. What a shame. We even forget that we are playing FINALs of ASIA CUP.

It is just foolish on the part of the selectors of the world eleven to exclude Sacin, Lara and Wasim Akram. These three are finest cricketers of all time world has seen. Sehwag, Gilchrist, Gooch and Gavaskar have been over rated.

It is really unbelievable that above mentioned three genius are not the part of eleven.
Just forget about such listings. These are just useless hype created by media.

We lost the ASIA CUP because of VEERU. I am a great fan of Virender Sehwag not Veeru Sheeru.

Ajantha Mendis is a Mystery spinner and there was no need to show VEERTHA SHOORTHA in the very 2nd ball of the very 1st over he is bowling to Indians. Sehwag acted like a big lion and came out of the crease without even watching one over of the new unknown unseen spinner. The run rate was more than good and more than required already and he could have calmly played without showing off. He went out like a lion out of crease but got stumped like a rabbit when SRILANKAN Lion Mendis showed him what is SPIN.

VEERU better play like Sehwag and when run rate is going at 9 runs per over and when you are able to easily smash all the fast bowlers with utter disdain...no need to try and do same with world class spinners. Better watch and play calm. Even the lion in forest sometimes slows down and then only attacks the weak prey. You should learn to attack weak bowling and not THROW your WICKET and also GIFT THE matches that too FINALs of any tournament to any opposition team.

Veeru... you also missed getting 100 runs that day. You are one of the greatest batsmen of India .. but why do you think you can smash any bowling. Why can't you give some respect to SPINNERS. When Srilankans who were 66/4 in that same Asia Cup 2008 Final could respect our ordinary Indian spinners like Ojha and Yuvraj and Veeru (you), why didnt you even watch one over and snatched defeat from victory ?
