Ganguli is beyond Parallel
by Goutam Nayak on Jan 22, 2008 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

II think Venky don't know the criteria of player selection. he has forgotten the selection criterion like our great selector (I think they should be sent a training school to train them how to select the team un biasly). Player should be selected based on present performances not historical record, I think at present Ganguly is ahead of Tendulkar. Dhoni and yubajar is great now!! I think if a real un biased team selection is done, both of them will not come even a 25 member squad based upon solely performance. I think no need to enhance T20 matches, it is nothing but gambling in cricket. Dhoni and Yubi practically worried if Ganguli come back then their position. I think he is the only captain who wants to develop a team who can fight with a great temperament of warrior with any team in the world, not Joker like Dhone or Yubi, as captain he always promote the promising player for the sake of cricket not for is personnel benefited. Now those Joker is behind his ouster. He is real Tiger, If he in the back foot then also he will not be cat like other. I think we should shallot he and his personality. I hope the day is not very far when the selector will laid down their head before Ganguli to save the series.

You guys are really crazy. You can think only Bengal and Bengali. Talk cricket. What if Ganguli is left out. He had his time. Steve Wagh was asked to retire when he was in the peak of his form. No one cried because it was not bengal and he was not bengali.

Relax... ganguli is beyond parallel.... MAN.. cant you guys think beyond Ganguli. BEngali's my God!! Try to be an Indian first. Will you guys stop watching cricket when saurabh retires. Or may you will wait until another bengali comes in.

Dear friend why sachin is in team not saurabh
by aswika singh on Jan 22, 2008 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

sachin scores
In future cup - 200 strike rate --->88
In England ---> 374 strike rate --> 85
in india against austaralia --> 278 strike rate 70
in india against pakistan ---> 259 strike rate
101
Now saurabh score i will not mention the strike rate u may feel offended
In future cup ---> 73
in england ----> 249
in india australia --> 127 ( 4 matches only)
in india pakistan ---> 89

Reason ur self out why sachin is in team to say u least abt strike rate sachin over all strike rate during last 12 month is 86 where as dada's strike rate is 73. so here is the answer for those why sachin is in team not dada. Least to say Dada should be in team .....becoz i am pressing the stat of best player of indian team not the worst player . currently as no 8 in the world sachin is leading batsman of india in one dayers and also at 13 he is the leading batsman of india in test as well. saying this i would like to add u cannot left out champion player like ganguli like that.

Along with Rahul and saurav sachin also should have been dropped. May be a Maharashtrian in Vengsarkar helped Sachin.

Ganguly's Exclusion is Right
by ashutosh singh on Jan 22, 2008 07:28 PM  | Hide replies

I can not understand why people are crying for ganguly's exclusion.Those who are crying are not patriotic people because for them bengal comes first than India.This type of behaviour should not be eccepted in any society or in any country.If we talk about statics than also he deserve Indian colours.No matters if he has scored 1240 runs with the avg. of 40 ,Imp is that those runs have come against week balling attacks. He is never successful against good balling & series against Aus. Pak. SA ia perfect Exp. for that.He may have scored 1240 runs but has given 240 extra runs with his poorest fielding. Also he destroied 250 more runs of his partnars because of his worst in this universe running between the wickets. So his total runs comes out to be 750 with an everage of just 25. Also his strike rate is never more than 65 that means he only plays for himself & not for the team.Also picking him in 16 gives the team management extra burden to employ him in last 11 which he do not deserve by any scale. He should have taken retirment from ODIs 2 years back & if he will not do that what the selectors will do to throw him out from the team to make a solid team for the next world cup.

Based on recent performances of ODIs, Ganguly is the third highest scorers behind DSachin and Yuvi, and Rahul is fifth highest right behind Dhoni. Besides players like Kaif, Pujara, Badrinath, Parthiv have all much better recrods than those of Dinesh and Rohit. Should not Kaif (a great fielder), Badrinath, Pujara, Parthiv (improved wk keeper and better batsman than before) deserve chances?

Don't be biased, tell spade a spade! There is no valid reason to drop Ganguly at this point with his overall score after coming back. He might have given an option to retire after this oneday series and request him to be available for test. I don't know what's the point in debating this, young team is important but not insulting the seniors who are delivering.

SPADE IS A SPADE A.C.... Well, why you guys ONLy cry for Saurabh. I think most of you will suicide when saurabh will retire.

It would have been appreciated if one bengali had come supporting Why Dravid is left out. You guys cant be Indian.... And dont be a fool to compare Sachin with Saurabh. It seems Sachin is icon of Nation (minus Bengal) while you have made Ganguli an Icon of Bengal.

Have your say ?

Sachin Tendulkar is countineous running in cricket because of belongs to the Mumbai-BCCI Supremo Sarad Pawars Region.Non-Perfermance of Sachin is immaterial.

No u r not..He was not making runs for a while and they made him sit outside...but he has proved himself again and is back in side and making the most runs than any other cricketer both in Test and One-days...check ur stats and don't bring REGIONISM in this conflict...We all know how Ganguly made back to the side....

It would be interesting to see how India fares against Australia & Sri Lanka in ODIs without seniors like Kumble, Ganguly, Dravid & Laxman.

If they do well, perhaps it's time to phase out Ganguly, Dravid & Laxman from ODI team.

without Ganguly as a opener partner for Tendulkar I cant see any chance for the Indian team. By the way it is more important for any kind of game to get some big runs which never can be compensate by saving few run.
I agree these youngstars are better fielder than Gaguly and Dravid but have no potentiality to score some good runs. They all r just a bench of mediocre batsmen.
Lets we see the one day series Dhoni, after that we will discuss how potential u r as a captain ..

Realistic team.

Where is the place for Dinesh Karthik in the ONe day 11? He is definitely not for ODI.

Dinesh Karthik should have played for Test 11 in place of Dhoni. But why he is not there?

Ganguly..? why not for ODI? when Tendulkar can play at that age with not best fielding skills.

Why Dhoni not playing at No. 3 if he is good batsman? He will be biggest flop with Bat in the Aus. One day series. He can not play on fast pitches. So he will come in the lower order when few overs remaing. That puts the blame on other batsmen than him.

He is not an good batsman in fast pitches. That should be covered.

Backing the youth is good idea for World cup preparation. No issues with that.

But why to have Sachin when you drop a better one day player like Ganguly?

Hi Sreenath

You are talking about sachin fielding is not good, i think he is one of the rare indian fielder who had very strong arms also normaly a safe catcher, he is also very quick between wickets, i never found gunguly run well between the wickets.

Also when you look the record of dhoni he is one of the best wicket keeper batsman india found. He had his own style of batting and he can turn the match by spend few hours in the middle. Dhoni is always a night mare foraussie boweler.

Yes rightly said Mr.Venky. But I think its other way round. Dhoni is having nightmares in facing the Aussie attacks. Didn't you observe that in the last three test matches? Then one more is left. Do watch the Adelaide test. And don't compare the T20 with ODI. In T20 11 players need to play 20 overs but in ODI they have to face 50 overs!!!!! Gotta??

The perth match was won because of our bowlers and some fine batting by Laxman,Dhoni,Pathan he big 3 failed in the second innings infact DADA (whose fans seem to have had a memory loss) was out for a irresponsible duck in the 2nd innings..!! so if it wasnt for the dhoni laxman partnership we would never have won the perth test..!!

The seniors have to go at one time or other and selectors have done the right thing by inducting youngsters and that too in one-day matches which is absolutely correct. People who oppose will wish the Team India to loose and even before the series start. What a pity/ We should be ashamed. Knowing this only Dravid, the real sportsman cricketer gave up captaincy. The only people to be blamed are the media which has mostly Ganguly people whether it is NDTV ot Times or Sahara who simply change like a Chamellion

The whole nation after cricket and promoting regionlism and racism here in the rediff forum. All Indians are so good to abuse the fellow citizens in comparison of their state, color, religion and caste. Ganguly is a superb cricketer and the selector done now is injustice. Please stop your nonesense you anti Ganguly writers. I am not a bangali or north Indian, but I like Ganguly's sportsman spirit, aggressiveness and style. Cheers Ganguly
