SHAME ON MINISTRY O SPORTS FOR not showing any interest on other sport.

Shame on many corporates and bussiness peolpe for not encouraging other games.

If same trend continue that India will settle with Bronze medal for ever...

And dhoni goes toooooooo chennai
by cracy on Feb 20, 2008 12:34 PM  | Hide replies

The first hard news out - and it's big news. India's captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has been bought by the Chennai franchise for US$1.5 million. The other first picks: Adam Gilchrist has gone to Hyderabad for US$700,000, Muttiah Muralitharan to Chennai for US$600,000, Shane Warne to Jaipur for US$450,000 and Shoaib Akhtar to Kolkata for US$425,000. So Chennai has already spent US$2.1 million and grabbed two big names. It is unlikely that anyone will beat Dhoni's figure but in these times anything is possible.

ITs good for sports in India
by cracy on Feb 20, 2008 12:30 PM

Though it looks more like ifsh market the way BCCI is doing. But with so many cricketer avaliable for ads it will make cricketer also to work hard as the money given is by coporate which will work only if the player is in form. SEcondly with so many cricketer available the ad people will also becoming more pickly and will look for other sports as too much of cricketer might be suicidal. Secondly with this club system people will be definately drawn to sports and in general sports growth will happen if successful ipl will also result in football clubs in india as hockey is already their so is tennis. Probably coporate who have shied away from sports will now look into sports which will big boost for sports. And with more sport there will be more opportunites for enterpreneurs to cater for their demands Hopefully after software boom india with its strength can look for sports as a good career options

whose money it is??
by sanjay verma on Feb 20, 2008 12:29 PM

there is an auction of cricket players, though i have been told that with the abolition of slavery, auction of slaves have been banned.
And by the way, with whose money they are playing this game..... i meant game of auctioning players. You fools it is our money... money of general public... especially the cricket loving people...... because of whom all cricket matches so high TRP's and who makes it possible for these so called cricket stars worthy of endorsing consumer products.
hey do u people really want to spend your hard earned money on such players. If NO...... stop watching their matches on TV..... hit them hard where it really hurts.... in essence bring their TRP's down
