Sriram, well written article. But just ask yourself why is the world pissed off? Bajji was not proved and hence he never said it. Why should they be pissed off. What about Ricky ponting spoilt brat behavior during his early years? What about his drinking problems? What about clarke's racist behavior igniting gayle and samuels in the mini world cup? Why don;t we rule on these? Why is CA acting the hurt and insulted? They have sown seeds of racism and guilt, now face it.

It's 'Knickers' and not 'Nikkar'...and it's not a Hindi word
by sg on Feb 01, 2008 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Ranganathan (Author of this article),

Per Merriam-Webster dictionary:
Knickers : loose-fitting short pants gathered at the knee.

Please do some research before you write any columns.

I lived in Delhi for 22 years and I have worn a "Nikkar" for many of those years and it wasn't the lacy kind (the definition u gave is linked more with women wear than men wear). Don't tell me the word doesn't exist in Hindi ... am not sure if it is "official" hindi but it is definitely in spoken english. So don't get ur knickers in a twist please.

True. But there are words in Hindi derived from English. Like Canister is kanasther, Tomatoes is timatar.KNicker is nikkar in Hindi.

Mr.phorin-inglis-man SG, sir, the author is poking fun at the word 'knicker' as it is pronounced by most Indians- 'nikkar'.

SG, you are among the biggest morons I have seen write here on rediff!

I think you need to get nothing short of a brain-transplant before writing on rediff.
