Vijay has scored 317 in just 4 innings.. but pujara has 867 in 12.. Vijay has done this for longer.. he is definitely better.. even mukund is better or as good as pujara..

only reason pujara is given so much hype is because he is from the north.
Vijay has also proved in the lone test he played that he is good.. so Vijay is a better batsman.

and the only reason pujara is being discriminated on this forum is because he is also because he is from north. I won't dent that mukund is not a good batsman .. I believe both of them are talented. Being said that any knock made under pressure is always valued more and is considered as players capability to handle pressure in Internation cricket. Pujara has maintained to do so. And even after playing 12 innings he is still a highest run getter with the age of 20; Don't you think we need some one talented like this who can provide stability in the team !!! Think wisely before commenting and criticizing based on the regionalism.

highest run getter in the junior world cup and awarded man of the series.
scorer of 3 triple centuries in just 20 days.
scorer of 3 consecutive centuries n that also big ones in ranji.
this century against quality atack made on the last day to chase difficult target 325 in a day, remaining unconquered while guiding his team to victory.
last year, the same way, he single handedly scored century on the last day to save his team from a sure defeat.
performances n circumstances like that r also to b considered.

Unless Srikkant and Co. play petty regionalism he should be playing for India in the next test. He must be relived that the Mumbaikar Colonel is out of the selection business.

I think Vengsakar and Srikkant are non-biased.
Thats why there were less players from their respective regions. If TN wins the Ranji trophy, now thats a different story

praveen kumar does not fit into the team any more. kaif needs to rediscover himself as an all-rounder. he can't be selected as a fielder only. akash chopra doesn't get selected cause there is no slot for an opener. suresh raina is already in the team. piyush chawla is young and has a lot to learn before he can be reconsidered.

M.Vijay was drafted as Gambir was banned for 1 testmatch and Badri was drafted due to poor performance of seniors in Srilanka..but is yet 2 play..Pujara is middle-order batsmen..and it is difficult to accomodate him now..

You cannot easily stay away from a guy who hit 3 triple hundreds in a month. He is the most prolific run scorer in the country and deserves a place in ODI's and test. He is the ideal replacement for Dravid and if nurtured properly he can take Indian batting to stratospheric heights.

Nimbalkar is the only Indian to have scored 400 in first class cricket. But he never represented India in tests. Brijesh Patel & Ashok Mankad were great Ranji batsmen but both failed to loive up to their reputation in test cricket. No us hyping up this young guy Pujara. Let him take another year to hone his skills. He can then automatically replace the inconsistent Yuvi

Also please note that except mumbai he hasnt faced any decent attack, plus has scored bulk of his scores in his home ground! This isnt to belittle his achievement, but it would be better that he is nurtured in domestic cricket, indian a team before inducted into test team. As is the case with past prodigies, he will be rushed into the test team and with a couple of failed innings, thrown out of the team, never to be looked after! We have plenty of such instances!
