Why Badrinath left out of the match?
by sajin mv on Aug 30, 2008 08:40 AM  | Hide replies

It is disappointing to see that Badrinath was not included in the final match. I do not understand the theory behind this exclusion. He showed his temparament and technical abilities in the first match itself and may be failed in the following matches, however,he should have been included in this final match.Rohit sharma has given enough chances to prove his ability, but failed to score except some occassions. He is a talented player but need some more domestic cricket.

I feel that Badrinath is ideally suited for test matches where patience and ability to bat for long periods is of paramount importance than for ODI's where u need quick scores. So i believe he wd not have made much difference had he played in last match. I do agree the rohit has been given enough chances and deserves to dropped till he regains his form.

Also, yuvraj needs to be dropped as he has been found wanting against quality spin time and again. Yuvraj needs to work on his game specially against spinners.

Its not that we lost, but its the way we did that. We lost in a hurry and put up no fight. Its OK if the team loses after trying, but sorry to say we had not plans for that. This is why we dont win as many matches as Aussies do. And we are always catching up with teams.
The coach and captain shold ensure that this does'nt repeat.

This series a major setback to overhyped Rohit Sharma!!
by Bhasmasur on Aug 30, 2008 08:10 AM  | Hide replies

Rohit sharma has been glamorized and overhyped in Indian cricket media circles...especially by IBN7 and IndiaTV with their resident experts going ga ga over him..

But all that was required was one full series to expose all the technical frailities in his batting...
Plays across the line, plays too early and can get caught at midwicket, susceptible to the inswinger and can get trapped LBW....

Unless he works on these weaknesses, he might just be another Vinod Kambli who had a great beginning but faded away...

I'am also very surprised and extremely disappointed by the poor batting of Gautam Gambhir...he failed miserably and so also Yuvraj from whom lots was expected..

Maybe now is the time to give a rethink and a recall to Dravid and Ganguly...Sach and Viru will neways open for India against England a couple of months down the line...

Maybe it is back to the treied and trusted seniors for a couple of series more!!

see the problem with Indian cricket is everybody wants to get into it for the cash-cow it has become and the reason these guys are becoming stars and one match wonders because other teams cannot figure out flaws in the first match because they don't know how these guys play, one video watch after the game and we have a 1,0,10,3 ..scores

Infact Cricket is not interesting anymore because I see Altu playing today, then next day Faltu is included in the side in place of Altu and then Paltu replaces Faltu in the third match. Its like musical chairs. Every sport needs one prodigy Beckham, Sachin, Pele, Ronaldo, Maradona. todays team does not have anyone like that and thats why it bores the hell out of me.

I know some of you are going to go you are a oldie, and this is all youth now, but remember when Kapil,Gavaskar,Azhar,Sachin,Ganguly were there everyone from 16 years to 50 ..60 years watched cricket, there was discussions on every gully, nukkad, office, pan shop, tea shop... those days are over. Now all everyone in the team cares about is 10 crore deals and who boinks Deepika

You have won the one day series in Sri Lanka after 10 hard years. Hats off to Dhoni , the great Captain and his well balanced young Brigades.
Welldone and expect more laurel to India under your fine leadership.
May God bless you for long live.

Good India won the series for the first time. But Raina failed after having gloated that he has mastered Mendis and Murali. Lucky for the spin duo he got out before they came into bowl.

We might gloat over winning the one-day series. But remember that India lost badly in the Tests; India won the one-dayer series not because of its batsmen, but because of its bowlers.
When a series winner gets thrashed so badly, especially because of its batsmen's (repeated) failure, it is necessary to ask if India will ever be consistant! It is also necessary to put the batsmen on notice. Neither the opening pair, nor the middle order has ever delivered on a consistant basis - either in the Tests, or in the One-dayers.
The much vaunted batting line-up needs a clean-up.

One of the Fab 4 has to go out to make room for Suresh Raina now. Remember the horrible show in Sri Lanka they had.

Boss, what did our seniors do in the test series. Our superstars got beaten badly and got exposed against a rookie whom we called unplayable. But here our juniors won the series. So what class and experinece are u talking about?

I don't care about defeats as long as this captain and his young side can win major series and tournament. Nobody is invincible by any means although today's performance of team India was mediocre to say the least.

win and defeat is the parcel and part of the game. Main theme important. Dhoni has done well and clinched the series after 10 years

Yuvraj needs to be sidelined for players like Badri as the former is failing repeatedly for over several months. He needs to be ignored. Vice captain, so what....?

Youvi will play under PP Ojha one day. Such a irresponsible guy. Off late he has been just boozing and partying, and his scores say more.
