Kaushik Pal
Foolish captaincy & dubious coach
by Kaushik Pal on Apr 09, 2008 05:44 PM

I think we should look at a good captain as the moment L. Rajput was sacked from Indian coach Kumble's decisions have been wrong. Gary Kirsten has been the reason for defeat with Kumble after batting on a green top. BCCI gets a Aussie as coach b4 Australia's India tour and SA as a coach b4 SA tour. This is sheer stupidity as these whites will always support their country by leaking / misleading. I have no hesitation in questioning the committment of Chappal earlier and Kirsten now? Why are we criticising poor Sourav? He was playing a gem of an innings in Sydney till he was cheated by the umpire while India tried stared at defeat. Have we forgotten his fighting innings in fast South African pitches like J'berg against same 2 bowlers 150km plus with Nel as the 3rd? He was again playing another lone chanceless gem till cheated by the umpire at Motera unlike fashion parade of Dhoni with 2 missed catches and one missed stumping by Boucher. In tests we require a good lower down w-k bat who can play with responsibility when chips are down instead of throwing his bat and Dhoni definitely did not try that. That he got a 50 was pure luck while that Dada missed his century due to the Umpire was pure bad luck.

Still Sourav is the best
by derc cruse on Apr 05, 2008 10:24 PM  | Hide replies

In a bowling pitch where everybody fails, only Sourav tried to create some resistance followed by Dhoni, Laxman, and Pathan. However, his fight is not enough to revert the strategic mistake made by Kumble. As a captain people do not make this kind of mistake in school cricket. What a shame!!

The green top pitch has been personally acknowledged by Dale Steyn in the post innings press meet where he innocently admitted that he was surprised at Kumble's decision to bat. Why do we expose our stupidity by criticising the highest scorer from Indian team????Multiple "WRONG-UNS" cannot make Kumble's error on the ILL ADVISE of Gary Kirsten "RIGHT"

Moreover, when the best bat of the country Sachin with the best fast bowler of the country Ishant are resting to play in IPL where they will earn MONEY MONEY MONEY, what is the point in blaming Sourav, who has never stopped playing gamely for national pride smilingly under captains who are totally lacking cricket sense?

Oh my god such a deadly bowling pitch, isnt it, all south african batsmen failed, even dhoni just scored a 50 but dada scored massive 87. Bowling pitch????? South Africa scoring 500 runs in a innings this is a bowling pitch. The only problem was the pitch was helping the bowlers with the new ball, once the ball got old batting was easier and as it is Ganguly came to bat when the ball was not new atleast.

We all know what ganguly scored on the lively pitch in Perth against Australia. If india has to win on lively pitches like Perth, Sachin, Laxman and Dravid the fabulous 3 has to perform.

the first innings performance again shows that whether sachin scores a ton or not his mere remaining in the ground boosts up the moral of team... Dhoni shud concentrate on his own performance with his bat rather criticizing the Master Blaster... further india played with 4 bowlers 7 batsman on a batting pitch of chennai... & are playing with 6 batsman & that too when sachin is not there at motera... Dont you think it;s a poor decision....

Baah Shah! I think Sehwag Scored 319 due to Sachin who scored 0 and then did not take part in the field for 2 days being totally unfit. He is resting for 2 tests to be fit for IPL which will fetch him MONEY MONEY MONEY

I agree that Dhoni is intentionally letting the country down for his personal ambitions at axing seniors and Gary Kirsten has started experimenting like Chappal at India's expense by playing Pathan who cannot bowl and bats a little bit.

by Arpit Amin on Apr 05, 2008 06:03 AM  | Hide replies

After this shameful performance by team India, Ganguly, Dravid, and Sehwag should get sacked. For Dravid an Ganguly its time they retire gracefully or get them sacked. They have played enough We don't need useless players like Dravid an Ganguly on any format of the game. Its good that they are not in the ODI team or else we would have been scoring less than 200 everytime we bat. Shame on you Dravid and Ganguly as well as Sehwag.

Atleast Ganguly got 87 runs before being dismissed in dubious decision, what were the others doing? Still, he should be ashamed!
You be ashamed at yourself first for being such a fanatic!
Who do you want in the team? Yourself I guess

With Gary kirsten at the helm (like Chappal) all will get sacked. The coaches committee comprising Gavaskar, Shastri, Venky was waiting for all to forget Chappal b4 they can again appoint someone with very fat dollar pay with good kick backs. This committee comprises of good cricketers who have never coached and knows nothing about coaching. Obviously poor Lalchand Rajput (a great coach like Buchanan who did not play many tests) was not even paid but he worked 24 hours for the country and results came in 20-20, ODI's and Tests. But the committee was waiting for fat expenses. What is the committment of Gavaskar in sacking Rajput??

dont select heros of dead pitches even if they score 400 runs on such pitches.
such heros r dhooni and jaffer.
its better to search for real heros who can perform on all pitches.

I agree wth you.Dhoni is also becomeing a selfish player. He plays only if he is a captain.BCCI gave him a credit for winning Australian ODI serious. But it is not because of him BCCI won.Master and senior batsman sachin played well that is the reason BCCI won the ODI againgst Austalia.

I think it is a time for ICL (Kapil jee team)Should play International cricket and BCCI should play a domestic cricket.

India played a mockery of innings. Its not only hostile bowling, but part bad selection of strokes.
Steyn has already 8 five-firs, that means he is a sort of a emerging guy.

Ganguly should be happiest man in the team now, even though he might be acting as if he is very sad. Since Sydney fiasco, he started undermining the team. Only way is either sack ganguly from the team or sack kumble as a captain.

you son of enviuos soul. Why can't you take the fact still sourav made the highest score in a bowling pitch. You Dravid again failed miserably. Kumble made a strategic mistake. Only stupids make this kind of mistake in Test cricket. WHat a joke.

Warne, Murali can spin ball on any track.
Our useless spinners require under prepared turning tracks for that. Why Bhajji is crying? Let him start a Bhajiya shop and make "Bhajji's".

We can blame the batsmen all we want for getting out for 76 but the bowling today has been good. Lots of misfortune today. Kallis bowled off Harbhajan but bails dont come off because the stumps are very tightly inserted. Then Kallis was plumb LBW off Sreesanth, not given. Things are not going Indian way

why do you halt only two instance, add more, rp singh tried to bowl to the middle stump, but missed out and gave 5 wides, sreesanth tried a bouncer, but ended up in a short pitch banged for a boundary. my idiot, even if kallis was out, someone else would have stayed and remember it was a innings plus defeat not by FEW runs. why do you live at all after getting drubbed by a quality team? searching for umpiring errors (nonexisting) here and there??? neither way, you are PERFECT losers.

76.3 Kumble to Kallis, FOUR!!, third wrong un, overpitched way outside the off stump, Kallis comes on the frontfoot and leans into the shot, drives it to deep extra cover, chase for Ganguly and he gets there in time, lazy effort in the end from him, doesn't bend down and lets it through the gates, poor poor work, Kumble is absolutely livid

Kumble should talk. Ganguly had to chase this ball but I have seen Kumble let balls through his legs while fielding close to the Batsman.

And this fkg steyn (Kal ka chhokra) is talking bout our living legend anil kumble's strategy. Well i pity on him.Just one lucky day for him and he thinks he is a better strategist..He thinks SAF wud have made 400 runs had they been put in to bat first instead. Poor fellow doesnt know "Big words fall small soon" like what happened to Ponting. Every dog has his day and he is a super dog

How can India fight back? They have only 5 batsmen. Dravid is not the same Dravid who used to be 5 years ago. Dhoni cannot stay at the wicket and build his innings patiently and neither can Sehwag. Dhoni does not have the patience to stay for too long. It is difficult to fight back with a batsman short. Looks like India is going to lose in 3 days itself. It is a real shame because India was overconfident going into the match.
