We can only play on placid wickets
by bawlachintu on Apr 04, 2008 07:37 AM  | Hide replies

Ho Ho...out for 76. It appeared a school side was playing a test side.
It is pathetic that we cannot read our own wickets. We managed about 10% of the runs that we scored in the first boring game where we again got the wicket wrong.
We must be producing turning wickets, seems the curators and the Indian cricket team do not know to make or read a pitch.

A humilitaing defeat is on the way for the spineless Indian team.
Kumble looks off mood and seems he wont even get a wicket.
Dhoni when playing for one days is very watchful but happily gave his wicket away.
Shame !!!

Dhoni is a big phony and india doesn't understand it. If you carefully see how he plays bat, he is more or less playing with luck. Move the bat, if ball hits, its six or what else that can happen...miss or bowled.

good morning everybody this is aishwarya writing from singapore.
You cannot win all tosses.one should be prepared for any eventually.what if SA would have won the toss and put india in to bat.We should be prepared and adjust to all kinds of situations.I dont blame for indias debacle only for choosing to bat first. Our so called star batsman should apply themselves to the task and bat according to the situations.i hope to see better performance by our team in the second innings.Lets hope for the best.
bye for now
aish.

Foolhardiness
by Aryan on Apr 04, 2008 06:47 AM  | Hide replies

Steyn is right, theres a thin line between being brave and foolhardy, kumble's decision certainly shows the latter quality.

Im not saying this in the hindsight to what happened, but because the curator had clearly mentioned that the pitch will favour the pacers for the first 2 days before being good for batting on day 3/4 and then break down to favour the spinners by the last day.

Having said that, nobody would have expected the batting line-up to fold for 76!! which is pathetic to say the least.

COLLAPSE
by Sujan Kumar Saraswati on Apr 04, 2008 06:41 AM  | Hide replies

This artical is a good tutorial for the Indian Team. May be Steyn has earned the right to ridicule Indian Team by wrecking them. But what is to be noted, is the level of analysis these foreign teams go into. May be Indian team also analyses the situation and works out a game plan, but from what we hear and what we see, Indian bowlers seem to be very mechanical in their approach (may be except Anil Kumble). They do not seem to be adapting to the situation. Any way, let us see what happens in the second innings.

Now its time....
by Akbar on Apr 04, 2008 05:48 AM

Now its time for everybody to start blasting the indian team. Nobody even wants to think about whats going on with them ... they have been playing so much of cricket and everyone is injured and added to this is the ruthless indian summer.. Its not a surprise that fell cheaply....This bugger "stain" is may be a good bowler....but he hasnt got any right to rigicule the indian team...he shd just mind his business..u just take 5 W in couple of innings and you dont become a master of game that you started throwing your advice which is not asked for. Remember, in australia it was just not the game that they have won... anybody would want some rest after that cumbersome series... Sooo stupid and greedy is the INDIAN BOARD...The indian cricketers should think too about their fitness....they make a lot of money which cant buy them the fitness/health they want....!!

Sachin tried to play, even when some others think he should not have. He has been forced not to play. Betrays a lot of frustration and envy. Anyway,.. you already are suffering.

Well done Kumble to expose the indian batting weakness

Well done Kumble for exposing the "Actual" batting capability of the Indians against Fast Bowling..

Where is Sehwag's Triple Century or Jaffer's rare 50..???
Dont curse the curator or the captain..

Indian batting sucks always against quality fast bowling..

Boss the curator must be blamed, because when you play in Australia and SA u dont' find spin pitches( Why? coz that's not waht their team wants) and similarly every team prefers to have their buddy pitch atleast in the home tournament. May be this curator thought of proving his skills in making fast pitches and eventually doctored it against the home team. Probably he expected the home team to play better than what they did yesterday, but he edged the game into the hands of SA in the first place.

Well, if the team can bat on the 'red-hot' surface in Perth, (that's what Australians described it as) then why can't we play a comparatively less-bowler friendly surface at home. The pitch can't be any excuse for you bad display. These batsmen are after all supposed to be the best in the world. The fact is that our wickets are useless and just producing sehwag's. It's Ok if you want to have players who can improvise, but you do need players who are technically superior. Otherwise what you will get are news items like 'Australia lost Ashes in 2005' and 'Indian team got bowled out for 76'.

No doubt, it's entertaining to see Sehwag smashing out fours and sixes, but first a batsman should be technically correct, and then he can go about doing all kinds of improvisations.

Strategic mistake by Kumble
by derc cruse on Apr 04, 2008 04:45 AM  | Hide replies

What was he thinking? It is a pitch full of grasses. WHy did he choose to bat?? He does not have brain for a captain, he is only a good person just like Dravid. Good persons should become monk and let the other become captain. What a pity and strategic mistake in a big game. SA could be all out in 100. Steyn was right. I know southies will try to write a lot about my comments. But this is true brother. Kumble is stupid with respect to cricketing sense

by pizzaboy on Apr 04, 2008 04:40 AM  | Hide replies

You know what might happen after the match, the poor curator will be blamed for not making featherbed pitch.
Personally these types of sporting wickets needs to be encouraged. The real talent comes from good lively wickets. On the same pitch our fast bowlers were so eratic and gave away many runs. Full marks to SA for their diciplined bowling. I am sure next test match wicket will have plenty ofruns for batsman and atleast couple of 100's will b scored and BCCI will be happy that Indian team bounced back... patetic BCCI and Indian team.
