Gundappa vishwanath observation on team morale with presence of Sachin, Rahul and Sourav is certainly an issue because the team would have returned empty handed .With these seniors in the team the youth exuberance, the level of passion to win, the motivation and the fighting spirit would have been missing as we saw in the 50 overs WC. Actually the problem is not just the BCCI& selectors but also the ex-cricketers as experts who do not want to be seen as speaking against the super stars resulting in choking careers of youngsters and harming Indian cricket. Even the young team sent to T20 WC could be possible only because the seniors chickened out after the WC debacle. The selectors cannot take credit for it.Now what will be the role of these players in the Aussie series ? Saurav may get his partner run out , play hit & miss to labor a half century and manage retain his endorsements. And Sachin will plod and get out early or crawl after reaching 90 for an hr only to get out missing the next century. It is Indian cricket in reverse gear.

Truth in the obsrvation. The oldies are selfish a bit. But now they will be pushed to perform better, as youngsters are eger to take their place.
again doing same mistake by kamal rohra on Sep 27, 2007 11:57 AM | Hide replies
India Won the 20-20 WC appreciated.. but again we are doing the same mistake by giving them too much value as we are doing from last 25 years. Media is responsible for all hype they are creating for these cricketers. And eventually we will find that these players also playing in pressure as we are increasing our expectations. And why are govt. giving money, I don't think cricketers are poor. Better give money to freedom fighters whom we have seen struggle for even 2 times food. BCCI is there to give them prices why should State govts. BCCI is earning thats why no problem even they distribute 50 crores. Why should govts... 5 lacs is more than the annual income of normal middle class person..
Tall fast bowlers have been a rarity in Indian cricket. Ishant Sharma, 6'4" and still growing, touches the 130kph mark consistently and also possesses a sharp and deceptive bouncer delivered from a high-arm action that leaves batsmen on their toes.

agreed. but even rp singh was initially slow bolr. he worked out on his pace. and now look at changes in him. proper coaching/training to ishant at the right time may improve him as well.

who is Saheer Khan I think it is Zaheer Khan m I right
RP Singh gave the brave performance. But RP Singh converted himself from ordinary to a lethal bowler. It has been an impressive performance from RP Singh since the tour of eng. More important thing and a lesson to others is that prior to his comeback to intl ckt, he was slow like irfan. But after he was dropped from the team, probably his stint with MRF academy, gave him the results. He not only improved his fitness and also increased his bowling speed. It is good to see a youngster like RP making efforts like this. From him, other bowlers have to learn a lot. eg. Irfan has been a slow bowler since his initial career, he shud work out just like RP to improve his speed so as to become more potent bowler. Another lesson for Munaf - who was originally a speedster, but got his speed relinquished somewhere. He shud also get his speed back and learn the lesson to remain fittest.
