Why India is so communal, even press does not miss a chance to propagate communal news. But see the link and you will know Modi too decalred 5 lakh to each player
http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/002200709261940.htm

Other CM's are seeking popularity/politicial mileage out of Winning T20 WC and side lining other issues while Modi not doing so.

Narendra Modi Rewarded Police who combat terrorism
by Nimesh Dikshit on Sep 26, 2007 08:35 PM

But Modi is the only CM who was first to reward all the polices who risk their lives to combat terrorism. The Ayodhya episode, Nagpur episode and few more, when police took action against the terrorists and killed or capture them on site, this Modi was the first to come out, even before the central govt to announce the reward. Also Modi probably knows how much money these cricketers make, and he does not want to discriminate between the hockey players and cricket players - like most CM do.
Got it right? He is a Nationalist not Statalist!

Gujart govt declares Rs 5 lakh award for Pathan brothers
THIS IS FROM "HINDU" NEWSPAPER
LINK --> http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/002200709261940.htm

Ahmedabad, Sept. 26 (PTI): Two days after India won the Twenty20 cricket World Cup in Johannesburg, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced Rs five lakh award for Pathan brothers -- Irfan and Yusuf -- members of the team which defeated Pakistan.

Cabinet minister I K Jadeja confirmed to PTI that the government will be giving Rs five lakh award to the both the cricketers from Vadodara.

Yesterday, Gujarat Cricket Assocation (GCA) also announced that it will felicitate all members of the victorious Twenty20 team on the sidelines of the NKP Salve Challenger Series which will be held next month at the Sardar Patel stadium at Motera near here.

Earlier in the day, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) also announced a cash reward of Rs 11 lakh to each member of the cricket team.

"Both Irfan and Yusuf had played an important role in the historic win of India over arch rivals Pakistan in the final of the Twenty20 world cup", BCA vice-president Sanjay Patel had said while announcing the award.

Narendra Modi ignores T20 stars
by on Sep 26, 2007 08:27 PM

Rediff has allready received over 786 messages. 99% of them find that article was in bad taste and with incorrect facts. It is inaporpriate for Rediff to let some one write such biased article, especially when it is based on incomplete adn incorrect facts. The writer has shown himself as a Modi baiter and a communalist. Other swise he would hae brought out the fact that Sreesanth, a nair was ot rewarded by a an Ezhava C.M in Kerala and that upper caste Karthik was not rewarded by a backward caste C.M in T.Nadu. What about Uthappa. Is it because he is a converted Christian, that the Secular JD(u) C.M did ot reward him. What is the editor doing? Least Editor ca do is to pull out this article immediately and make the author apologise. I am no fan of Modi but depend on Redif to give me correct news so that I can come ot judgement of my own about these politicians. You have a moral responsibility to give correct news. If rediff had given afoot note a the bottom, that this article seems to be based on incomplete facts, would have absolved the editor.

by Tarendra on Sep 26, 2007 08:23 PM  | Hide replies

This money given by these chief ministers are peoples tax money. Since, lot of farmer families dieing because of poverty. And these players already have big prizes from BCCI. So, what is need to give more money? To make publicity?

the reason the CM should give money is because already large sums of money is being eaten by these thug politicians..atleast giving the indian cricket players some sorta award.. they brought unity among indians..they provided many indians entertainment and joy..brought smiles to countless indians....they deserve it..

Bow Down to the New RAJAS & MAHARAJAS
by imran patel on Sep 26, 2007 08:10 PM  | Hide replies

I am amazed to see the public support for such activities. It is great that the Indian team won the world cup, but this behaviour of the CMs is in line with the Rajas & Maharajas of the old times.

CMs are not Rajas or Maharajahs.
Whos money are they spending ?

They can gift their personal money as gift to anyone they like, but this kind of un-checked tax money spending is insane.

Indian players are NOT under-paid. The BCCI will and does compensate them well.

I am not a big fan of Modi and I am not sure what his motivations are but I do not believe that it is right for a CM to shell out TAX money when there are other genuine and more pressing needs within the state.

You are exactly right dude!
These players got paid heavily for their efforts and that's about it! These politicians have no right to shell out taxpayer's money without their consensus.

10 lakhs for a spectator, while farmers in Mahrashtra continue to commit suicide.
This is India.
In a pitiable display of mediocrity's intolerance towards excellence, media is trying to make a villain of a politician who is not joining the perverse game of splashing public money.

A cash price for RP Singh who really deserved it could be understood but for agarkar who just sat enjoying free cokes and eatables. Not even able to understand where does the question arises for agarkar deserving it?
