Sehwag with no tech
by friend on Oct 26, 2007 09:43 AM  | Hide replies

He got enough chances, he could have proved that chances what he got were worth giving him.

Its defi no tech, no foot work - Nothing to do with POOR form (silly excuse), he doesn't watch the ball properly - look at the way he gets out. Nothing to do with luck - It's him.

Agreed. Look his majority ways of getting out. He slashes a ball away from the body without foot work. A guy who has played for a long time should have adjusted or atleast curb the instinct to play that shot. remember Sachin refusing to play a cover drive when he scored 200 in Australia in 2003. That is how batsmen with experience should improvise.

We enjoyed your mammoth innings. It was scintillating while it lasted. It seems everything ended prematurely. Hopefully you are financially settled. Enjoy a healthy retirement.

out with sehwag
by shriram on Oct 26, 2007 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

sehwag should be rested permanently, has been lucky to survive so long with absolutely no technique. Give chances to younger deserving players. Anyway the trio (Saching, Gangu, dravid) should be done with cricket in the very near future. Time to invest in new talent and not the same beaten ones. Laxman is much more deserving (as far as tests are concerned) than Sehwag. Laxman never got these many chances.

lets take the gamble...
by VancouverPunekar on Oct 26, 2007 03:20 AM  | Hide replies

There are few batmen in the world who can blast away any bolwing attack in the world, can blast on any surface (swing/bounce/spin etc).
If we have to make list of such bastmen Sehwag is certainly there...
But then he has not been his former self and has got many chances, more than he should have, but i will still want to see him get few more...

Cause when he is on song its almost match over for the opposition...
We have had some good Test victories in the past 3 years overseas(Austrailia, Pakistan) and Sehwag's contribution has been immense. He scores fast...that gives lot of time for our bowlers to bowl the opposition....
So its simple, he is crucial for our success, but he is not amongst runs. So playing him will be a gamble which I think we should take....

Also one more important aspect, he has a good psycological edge over pakistan...has scores tons ..against them and so if he is not selected...Pakistani supporters will be more happy then sehwag bashers...

YOU KNOW WHAT, THE PAKI BOWLER ASIF HAD PROCLAIMED BEFORE THE 20/20 MATCH THAT HE WILL SEND OFF SEHWAG IN THE SPACE OF 5 BALLS AND HE DID EXCATLY THAT.

SO MUCH FOR THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EDGE THAT SEHWAG HAS OVER PAKIS!!!!!!!

Hi didn't say 5 balls or anything...

This is what he had to say:
"If luck goes to my favour, I know I can have his wicket in the very first spell of mine," he said.

Also T20 is a different proposition, almost any fast bowler can fancy his chances against any batsman especially with a new ball.

2 people to blame;; CHappel and Dravid
by Hiren Bhavsar on Oct 26, 2007 03:01 AM  | Hide replies

If you see the batting order of india and Sehwag under Dravid as captain and Chapple as coach you will see what is the reason of the failures..INfact why Sehwag only..Even Kaif, Raina or even Tendulkar-at no.4 failed during their times becuase or horrible captaincy and coaching experiments...We did well at home with spinners and other bowlers doing well but failed horribly everywhere else..
As far as I remember; we have had Sehwag, Dhoni, Sachin, Gambhir, uthapa, ganguly, dravid himself and even Kaif-once open the batting in 2 yrs under dravid...and none of tht was due to any injuries...mmost time 3-4 of these were in the 11 also...
The only reason Ind won in tests is bcoz no batting order changes were made..I wonder why Sehwag was not given a chance in test instead of ODIs in Bangladesh..Dravid had some obsession with Kartick and luckily for him he did well;;; but i still want to see Sehwag in the team as he was only other batsman i love to watch besides sachin and dhoni-when in form...

What an excuse to make. If you are one of the best player in the world and have played so many matches how does it matter which order you bat. This is just an excuse for poor show.

Dont blame Chappel. Blame the lack of talent.

what r u australian Tim?????
get out of here..
have you seen Gilchrist bat at no 5 or 6 or Ponting opening in a test match..
or how about Hussey and Symonds with so much success i hardly see them even promoted to no.3 or 4...always bat at 5 and 6...Same is with Kallis, Flintoff/Peterson, Fleming-Styris
M Clarke opened twice in last 2 ODIs vs Ind and made 0's..what do u say abt tht..
Talent is useful only when properly used...not randomly experimented with..

may b dravid had obsession with karthik, but it had some basis. Karthik played good inning in SA for this.
however, agreed that chappal esp made a mess with batting orders and unsettled team.

Kartik only played one good inns in SA in test..he has always failed in ODIs but dravid kept picking him ahead of Kaif, Raina and eventually made tendulkar bat at 4 bcoz of poor middle order..
Remember we had strongest middle order with Laxman/dhoni, Dravid, Yuvraj and Kaif at one time..now we have the weakest--proof is WC, eng series and even last aus odi series..
in 20-20 u these weaknesses are not ther bcoz ther is no consolidation required or a lot overs are to be played..but in 50 overs..india is struggling..

He has failed in One DAys not in Test Matches
by jamescunnin on Oct 26, 2007 02:29 AM  | Hide replies

It is clear that Sehwag has failed in the One Day games, but yet with fields up and the Test arena he still a force to reckon with! India should let him take on the Pakistanis in the TEst series and then decide who should go to Australia, cause I feel he warrants a place instead of Karthik. The second wickie should be P Patel and he is also a potential opener in good form!

I dont see it happening..
as much as i agree with Sehwag should go to AUS...Kartick will remain having done well in Eng..I think Sehwag should go as 3rd opener in 16..if reqd he can also bat in middle order..I would rather see him at No. 7 then dhoni in tests..

Why do we need Sehwag. Just get him out.
Sehwag: You were given great chances to open innings and your average is just 31. Your are not a full time bowler also. No use of you.
