Come down from high horses

Its one thing to be a T 20 Champion and another thing to be a 4 times World Champion, that too 3 in a row. Had we beaten the same aussies (haa!!! distant dream), all these talks wouldnt have been there. Lets face it, they are light years ahead of us.While we depend on occassional individual brilliance, they rely on a process driven system. We rely on Heroes, they rely on mortals. People like Clarke, Hayden, Symonds, Johnson are not heroes. Our cricketers are "filmi heroes", good only in the silver screen (read TV ads). But the aussies deliver, when it matters. Didnt we talk of restricted number of TV ads? Has anyone counted how many Dhoni ads are happening? The soft drinks, hair cream, ....nothing stops.
And when we are thrashed, we cry hoarse. Even with all "aggression" (if you actually call that so), nothing happened. So lets stop beating here and there and play Cricket. Straight, Simple way. And one last question. Do the Big 3 intend to play the next WC? If yes, let them continue like Lara or Jayasurya. If no, please clear the road and let the kids have a chance. We dont mind the kids being bashed today, but they will be men in the next few years.

Sreesanth is spoiling the name of India!!
by Bhasmasur on Oct 16, 2007 04:39 PM  | Hide replies

Look at the way the Aussies conduct themselves on the field of play...have you seen any Aussie cricketer abusing Sachin, Dravid or Kumble??

But tyros and novices like Sreesanth are abusing icons of the game like Ponting and Gilchirst...it is so shameful and sad...that the young generation with earrings and tatoos does not know how to respect the greats of the game!!

Atleast the Aussies know how to respect Sachin, Dravid and other greats.. our guys don't know how to respect Ponting and Gilichirst...real shame!!
Sreesanth is a blot on the name of cricket and is bringing the game into disrepute!!

Dear Bhasmasur,

I think you have a selective memory problem. Why are you forgetting Slater trying to hit Dravid with his bat after giving 2 full mins of abusal? Why don't you remember how Murali was abused by your great Ponting...etc.

If you don't know the history, please be quite.

You don't see them mate, you hear them!
Yes, Sreesanth is getting to close to being banned for his antics but then there's BCCI - with politicians who pose as social role models - to warn and even correct the errant player that he is. Let's leave the headache of on-field behavior to the officials and we just sit back enjoy all the "monkey" business going on in this series.

Aussies abuse much more than Indians. They are very shrewd and sharp to hide it from camera. So nobody notices. Poor Indians they show it off and could be easily cought on camera. That is the only difference. Sreesanth is the only person who gave it back in the same coin. Believe in yourself, we are not slaves...

Paniker, Stop playing god!
by Pabby N on Oct 16, 2007 04:26 PM

Paniker - were you among the Vadodara crowd who made monkey noises at Symonds? the staff denied anything like that was made, and so far only Symonds has said that this happened. Why do you believe one australian more than a 100 indians? Are you still in the slavery mood? if possbile, go read what australian press said about this whole incident. Indian players and crowd, atleast dont talk about your mother and wife. For their obnoxious behaviour - asking fellow players about how their captain's privates taste and talking about their mothers and wives, this australian team is condemned to take all this shit. Dont bring yourself to disgrace by trying to defend it. if this was done to an other team, you had a point. To me, you are just someone who is trying to play god. Period.

Shut up Sreesanth

Shut up Sreesanth, and stop beaving like amad dog. Concdentrate on his bowling line and length and he should focus on taking early wickets. There is absolutely no need for him to show his so-called emotions, for that matter, he is too young and inexperienced player who has got a good future, do not spoil his career just to show the ugly display. Remember mad dogs are shot at.

Talk but act as well
by prasannaa ganesan on Oct 16, 2007 04:18 PM

All the chat we have seen in this series on and off the field is fair and it does add spice to the hyped series. I personally see nothing wrong in the way the Australians and the Indians have exchanged words but would have like a spirited performance from the two teams. After 6 matches are over, i still see only one team playing with an intent to win and no prizes for guessing that. Yes, the best solution for India is to win the games if they happen to talk else might as select a team of 15 diadvantaged (those who cannot speak - i do not want to use the word DUMB here) people who can probably better cricketers than the current bunch we have. BCCI would have gotten a solution by doing that as they would atleast have a very disciplined team and would not need a media manager as well.

WHY Aussies make it a big issue ?
by siva kumar on Oct 16, 2007 04:18 PM

Because Australians have been doing this sledging for decades and going scot-free, because, the ICC was under the control of Whites.
They are under the impression that it is their birthright to abuse Asians.
Now suddenly when they find an Indian paying them in their own currency they are startled and unble to digest the fact.
Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev had been at receiving end at Australia many times and Ian Chappell will never ever acknowledge that Gavaskar& Sachin are great. Because they are extremely jealous of the records of the Asians as they are under the opinion that whites like them can only make such records.
Remember how they troubled Muttaiah Muralidaran and tried to ban him from playing cricket because they wanted shane Warne's record should not be surpassed.
Asian players have been many times penalised for simple errors while allowing white players going scot-free by white match referees.
Sreesanth might have slightly exceeded the limit, but had he performed better even that could have been forgiven.
BCCI should take a firm stand and retort ICC that making monkey noises by a section of a crowd does not amount to racial abuse and issue a stern warning to Australia that any sort of retaliation during Indians tour of Australia will result in aborting the whole program.
ICC is dependent on BCCI and not the vice versa
