India will regret not picking Sehwag
by kumar on Oct 11, 2007 09:42 PM  | Hide replies

India lost the England ODI series 4-3 but did not learn

India experimented with Sehwag in 20-20 and he made useful contributions, India succeeded

But against Australia India did not play Sehwag so is down 3-1, it would have been 4-1 had the first ODI not been washed out.

But not learning at all, India has continued to ignore Sehwag and i now see them going down 5-1
barring exceptional innings by some miracle alone.

They will play Sehwag in the one and only 20-20 and will win it.

Vengsarkar continues to be blind to India's need for an explosive opener

Hey. For getting a place in the team, a player has to be a batsman or a bowler or an all-rounder but Sehwag is neither anyone. Part time batsmen and part time bowlers will not find place in the team

No Big three in the Indian team, Indian team would have lost 6-0 in this series.

last chance for big 3???

Well if thats the case I bet you will be losing your interest in indian cricket soon once 3 move out.

Youngsters are just good for T20 to play without thinking abt wicket.
Only match sourav and sachin gave opening partnership everyone played....rest of the matches where there was no partnership...they failed crazily.

BTW losing to Aussies is not worst thing...they r the champs....India may have won T20....but thats once in blue moon...Aussies win game after game.

WELL GUYS, LOOK AT THE FACTS....WITH THE SENOIRS WE DID NOT COMPLETE OUR 50 OVERS QUOTA IN 3 OUT OF 4 MATCHES....SO IF BY INCLUDING YOUNGSTERS WE DO NOT COMPLETE THE 50 OVERS IN NEXT TWO ODI'S, IT WILL NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE....THOSE WHO ARE SAYING THAT THE THREE SHOULD STAY ON ARE FORGETTING THAT
WE WERE KNOCKED OUT IN 1ST ROUND OF WORLD CUP, LOST ODI SERIES IN ENGLAND, AND ARE PRETTY MUCH LOSING THIS ODI SERIES ALSO....SO WHEN SACHIN,SAUROV & DRAVID ARE NOT CONTRIBUTING THEN WHY NOT GIVE A CHANCE TO YOUNGSTERS....ATLEAST WE WILL HAVE LESSER EXPECTATIONS....
SACHIN & DRAVID & SAURAV HAD AROUND 4-5 GOOD ODI SCORES IN LAST 10-12 INNINGS....WITH THE WEIGHT OF SO MUCH EXPERIENCE THEY SHOULD BE MORE CONSISTENT LIKE HAYDEN, SYMONDS & PONTING...SO IT IS NOT A BAD IDEA TO EXPERIMENT WITH YOUNGER GUYS...ATLEAST WE WOULD HAVE TRIED....

Mr Manikantan when u ssy look at the facts then look at the facts dont put ur point of view as facts. Fact is that in last ODI series against England Big3 were all in top 4 run getters for india and sachin scored about 450 runs with average of more than 50. there was nobody from newcomers to even stand behind them. and as u have seen in this series also when sachin saurav gave a solid start youngesters capitalized on it when they didnt thr was no youngester to take india to a respectable total. n with all these facts anybody can ask to throw all youngesters out and bring players like kaif, sehwag etc back. So when talk about facts ..talk facts only nothing else.

Indian fans are delusional. Who other than the big three can survive good bowling ... none of the technique-free sloggers. Get real India.

GOOD DECISION
by NITIN RAJ on Oct 11, 2007 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

Nice to see that the selectors retaining the same squad for the last two one day games. Let the same team toil against the Aussies to level the series. If they are unable to level the series then selectors can make the necesssary changes against the full series against Pakistan. In my opinion when a squad is announced , it has to be for the full series. If we bring new players in between the series, there are chances the team might lose the momentum.

What is so good about it? India are losing all matches without a whimper anyways with the current bunch. So we all know the result of the next two matches unless the Indian umpires help. Then how are the young and new players going to get exposure?

BCCI and it's band of selectors are reactive and not proactive. A defeat propels them to announce measures such as endorsement limits, rotation policy etc etc. All talk and no action. once they win one game theyget back to their old ways. What a bunch of jokers!

Retaining the Same Team
by Saikat Choudhury on Oct 11, 2007 06:44 PM  | Hide replies

I feel that India needs to adapt a policy of rotation. This policy of rotation should only be limited to new entrants like Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma, Gambhir etc for the time being they should be given 5 One day matches then rotated if they do not perform and once they start performing and are able to show their mettle then the rotation should also start including Sachin, Sourav and Dravid. No point in trying to blood youngsters just for the heck of it we need to accept that we do not have any exceptional talent like the top three immediately on hand

This proves how ignorant and foolish the selectors are in India. Politics plays a big part of the game. An aspiring youngster can never succeed in India unless they have political connections. Sad and stupid
